M.bison USF4 , any Rumors of buff/nerf changes?

So very stupid, give him one buff and try and hype the change and then nerf it so Bison really doesn’t do more damage outside of red focus into ultra

Still only 5 more than cr.mk. Move got hit too hard, to the point where it is debatable if its worth the one frame link

Bison is going to shift to my pocket characters after this circus. So very angry, Bison is still better but so is everyone else. If anything we needed more buffs, not this bs.

Oh man, I am not looking forward to playing him today, feel so angry they still nerfed the damage even though they acknowledged that damage is his biggest drawback. The haven’t even buffed Cr.lk damage to compensate. So basically he can’t get extra damage of his B&B even with a one frame link. No wonder Hiro never used it in his match against Lionhart.

They gave Akuma St.hp cancel(6 frames) with the same damage even though he ,by far, don’t need a damage buff.

This game is ass.

Cr.MK has 1.25 range. Far MP has 1.5

Interesting change for U1. If it retains its invulnerability, it means Bison attacks from frame 10-15 while invulnerable. Free chip damage against Shoryuken users. 6 invulnerable active frames!

Japanese change list says far mp does 70 damage not 60, so Kim was right.

The list also says far mp is back to +0/+3 instead of -1/+2 in the arcade, which implies they got rid of the extra recovery frame.

Good thought, it is decent chip. These situations though when they do speed up Ultras they generally keep things aligned.

Decent? It’s a lot of chip damage. Around 120-125. well, in these changelists, they listed the reduction of invul frames for Guile. Nothing mentioned for Bison.
Maybe it can even catch backjumpers avoiding chip now. I know Zangief and THawk wont be able to jump back to avoid it because of their 6f prejump animation.

When I say decent I mean when the opponent is nearly dead. Life scaling applies to chip damage as well so a full ultra would realistically chip for under 100.

That damage nerf to MP is pretty shitty. Just got to get my hands on Ultra to see if the 1 frame is worth the damage and scaling. Might just be better to do two fierce punches in red focus combos.

Kriger is the only one positive about Bison lol. I’m just negative about the game. I blame online, my last game I did 4 ex scissors, stood still and went to get a sandwich.

Ignore medium punches for RF combos. The damage is good, but scaling applies at long combos, plus, the stun suffers considerably.

There are reasons, jebop. First, I like the character. I will use him anyway. Second, I play with my characters’ strengths, not weaknesses, so I only care for what I can do with him that I couldn’t. Third, I like to think of new strategies. Fourth, I want to play Bison to its max potential, but I’m not really into tournaments for many reasons, so I don’t really care if he’s top tier. I just don’t want him as bottom.

Just when I started to accept the changes, that maybe Bison would be okay since he has damage now…

WOW that’s some BS!!! Seriously, Capcom are ass holes man. That S.mp was the MAIN thing giving him competitive damage. Now the SK buffs meaning nothing lol. There really isn’t a need to use the s.mp much outside of frame traps now. No wonder Jiro wasn’t using it. unbelievable. Bison really does not get love.

You can still use it for Cr.MP > S.MP for situations when Cr.MK doesn’t reach.
Better than Cr.MK for Cr.LP > Close LP > S.MP strings
It’s also better than Cr.MK after a Close HP counter hit and can still be used for character specific combos CloseHP > Standing LK > Far MP.
Usable after far S.LK (Cr.MP and Cr.MK aren’t)

Also, it’s a 3f link punish for Honda’s EX Headbutt.

It’s not that damaging now, but still better option than Cr.MK for its reach and better than Cr.MP for its startup.

Yeah stand MP has uses still, but now Bison is back to having shit damage outside of red focus combos. It’s not like 90 on MP gave him a 50% bnb punish.
It was just a nice tool for damage that was still a 1 frame link. They made a good change into a meh change with the damage nerf.

Ultra 1 being 10 frames is nice though. I guess there is that, oh and his anti-air game is slightly better. Bison the mid tier God!

damage reduction on fs.mp is really stupid as everyone already pointed out but its gone back to +0/+3 instead of -1/+2 then i’d say that’s a pretty good trade off

  • we get a slightly weaker whiff punish, but still a HUGE improvement if we consider what we have in previous versions. it’s 210dmg now instead of 230, and we get a KD and tons of corner carry.
  • instead of using s.mp as a complete c.mk replacement, it now serves closer to a “fix” in the bnbs that would whiff against certain characters
  • combos from crumples and jump ins are still much stronger than previous versions. the jump in combo damage we lose from this damage reduction is very minimal as well. for example…

doing [jump in > c.mp > fs.mp > RFA > c.mp > fs.mp xx hksk] actually does the same damage as jump in > c.mp > fs.mp > RFA > cls.hp xx hksk]. fairly certain the second combo does a little more stun too? really we lose very very little damage when it comes down to scaling as well.

it’s still all shitty that we lose damage at all, BUT the fact we can now stagger with fs.mp for counter hits means we’re getting MORE damage by comboing fs.mp into itself on counter hit and still getting a cancel. no charge? well we still get a fs.mp or s.mk or s.rh link for MORE damage than was possible before.

plus we get the new NMB. i know it’s easy as heck to AA with sagat’s U1 and that’s 10 frames. you don’t see it often because who wants to jump at sagat? but people sure like to jump at bison! a reactionary AA ultra punish? yes please

a lot of what i said really hinges on fs.mp being +0/+3 instead of -1/+2. my hype will get deflated again if that turns out to not be true. that said, what it looks like is instead of trying to replace c.mk with with fs.m in any way we can, we’ll use it simply in different (and imo better) ways. we lose - and let’s be honest here - relatively insignificant damage in some combos in return for greater overall utilities.

and the two things to stress are the buff in footsies is incredible no matter what way you look at it, AND we got this NBM which to be is gonna be godly

I tried Bison today in Comic-con. Spoke with David Hinds and the game is in its final build , the build that will be released after two weeks. Bison feels more or less the same, damage is the same but head-stomp is better, I believe they have buffed the hitbox slightly. I couldn’t do Bison combos because the setup feels so strange to me, I could not play properly (missing input and combos left and right), but that maybe because I am used to my laggy Tv I need some time with the setup to adjust it seems. I might have a go again tomorrow. But overall, I think he is the same but with a little better headstomp and an awesome Ex.SK. I haven’t tried cr.HP though but I did use Ex.DR , it falls so fast that I think it is usable now. Also I think it travel the same distance but faster but I am not very sure.
