I take a look at characters like Blanka (who can now combo cMK twice in a row and fierce ball knocks down) and his combined Ultra’s are useful. Both of ours are terrible.
Teleport nerf is an insult at best.
the addition of sMP comboing, means little when it will now just be a random replacement for cMK, which is still the better move.

HOWEVER…I am hearing you can Ultra off of Scissors now?
Scissors > RED FOCUS > Ultra works, of course, but there goes your whole super and ultra bar and it isn much more damaging than simply Scissors > Super.
I don’t really care much about Scissors going -1, but they could compensate it by giving us a real headpress, skull diver, devil reverse and actually useable ultra 2. Fix EX Psycho (1st frame invulnerable) would be nice too. The Ultra that needed charge reduction is Ultra 1. Ultra 2 needed startup AND charge reduction.
So to recap what we know so far and what I think of it.
This is pretty much the only good and relevant thing that Bison got. I kinda wish they would have shaved it down to a 5 frame startup but this will work.
Still horribly show and trade prone, needed 1-2 more startup frames shaved off it unless it got a hitbox buff.
What were you smoking Capcom? There is plenty of stuff in the game that is both safe and does a lot more damage than SK even with 10 damage rolled into it. Reducing Bison’s pressure what little he had is going to hurt bad unless you threw in a ton of hitbox and damage buffs to his normals.
Why make one of the easiest things to punish in the game even easier to punish?
Worthless change unless they buffed the hitbox or the tracking major. It is still to easy to both beat and make whiff.

No real reason for the dmg nerf and changing the charge time doesn’t address the issues with the move. The only thing reducing the charge time does with that is possibly makes it so we don’t have to stagger hell attack to combo into it. This is still bad if they didn’t end up buffing hell attack.
tldr: Bison got screwed over like I said before as things stand now.
I don’t really get the reasoning behind lowering the charge time on U2, if it’s just to make hell attack -> u2 easier like stabicron said, it’s pretty useless.
Good players never throw projectiles at bison when he’s holding back, and if we do get the opportunity, it’s easier and safer to punish with exSK due to the slow startup on U2.
The damage reduction just seals the deal, U1 is better in every way.
Also, I thought this update would at least try to make the guile matchup a 6-4 at best, but now even if we do get our pressure going, the -1 on lkSK fucks us even more.
What do guys think that the chances of -1 on LK scissors, and teleport nerfed, will it be finalized ? There’s still months of testing, this kills the corner pressure…
the cHP buff does nothing. It’s less slow, woo? That’s like repeatedly punching somebody in the balls, then you suddenly decide to lay off of one testicle,and you hope the person won’t be as mad that you’re now only repeatedly punching them in one nut.
The irony is Abel’s wheel kick got buffed so it’s now much much safer. And a ton of other characters got safer. The scissor kick nerf literally destroys Bison. Especially given the other ‘buffs’ and nerfs he received.
The only reason I can see them having nerfed teleport, is due to the delayed recovery. But that doesn’t matter, considering it was already punishable before in basic situations, and now it’s something you just don’t even want to bother using to defend yourself as it’s no longer safe.
BINGO! 2 frames quicker is meaningless when characters randomly block or just walk backwards from it, and as a Bison player you seem to rarely know whether they’ll block or just walk away from it casually.
When I was playing with Justin Wong, I was asking him why I never see him using Devil’s Reverse or Headstomp, and he discussed at length how terrible those two moves were, and how much you give up just using them.
It whiff’s a huge amount of the time, and falling faster also means less charge time, so this may end up not mattering much anyways.
oh boy it charges faster. Now if only every character didn’t just neutral jump on wakeup, and it didn’t lose to everything, and wasn’t so incredibly slow that you could still block it if it gets thrown at you even as a counter to your fireballs.
Changing the charge time does nothing. The problem was never charge time, it was how slow it came out once activated. You weren’t staggering hell driver in order to get more charge time, the issue was if you didn’t stagger, it came out too slow and you would whiff.

Every other character got huge buffs, whether it being how dangerous they’ve become with double ultra’s, whether it be shit like Honda gaining full invincibility on moves or Blanka getting fast enough cMK to combo into itself or all the crazy shit you can read on the buff/nerf lists…Bison got worse. So every character in AE is now going to be better, while Bison is getting worse. We literally will be competing against Dan (WHO GOT MUCH MUCH BETTER) for the bottom of the tier list.
I have no idea how this shit got OK’d considering the list of shit that was originally being requested and proposed even by Combofiend and other pros.

Bison was so strong coming out of the gates of Super, and Capcom somehow got scared of this and nerfed him repeatedly to the point where I am just disgusted with them.
There is a small chance that everything could be undone and I am hyped to see what people make of it in the location tests. If it feeds back to Capcom that Bison is dead now then I’m hoping (against hope) that they leave Short Scissors neutral.
I don’t know, after what they did in AE, I don’t have much faith with Capcom. It’s not like I play this character in SSF4 much anymore, but he is an alt and I do feel pretty bad for people who actually main him. Guess only time will tell.
Hey guys. I was curious about something so I went back to the Capcom forums and reread the first 11 pages of the Bison change suggestions thread. Guess what.
They reverted the damage to 420 from Super SF4 when it was QCF motion.
The 40f means he can actually neutral jump and charge and punish follow up fireballs. They did the same with Deejay on sobat kick I THINK so he can neutral jump and EX-Sobat past fireballs and etc etc…
Whatever, if that’s the best they are doing with the Ultra 2, we’ll see how it plays out later on. I am definitely looking to pick up new characters this time around anyway.
RIP bison, my guess is Bison will be bottom 10 if changes stay the same. time to learn rose vega or rog. With all the buffs Guile is getting I don’t see how Bison can ever even attempt to win it consistantly. I hope we are all overreacting though, and it turns out not to be that bad
It means that our community was not vocal enough. We needed to flood out the scrubs with actual good suggestions, and straight up not be afraid to reach for the stars with it. For the most part all our community suggested was very slight things, we were too modest and its screwing us now. Also needed to flood out the scrubs with responses when they posted stupid shit on a char they don’t even use too, not sure that happened as much as it should have.
i wonder do the people at capcom unity even go to tournaments or do anything more than play online? CU has a pretty bad rep and their suggestions kind of prove they’re really, really bad and have little knowledge of this game…
combofiend was the one in charge of balancing, right? shouldn’t someone like that know better on who to listen to?
