Can someone clear something up for me please? Does the unblockable setup off a back throw simply not work anymore or does your opponant have to actually use DWU to avoid it?
From the footy I’ve seen every Bison is just using safe jump setups now which lead to meaties/mixups if DWU is used. Is that our future now or can we go for an unblockable and amend the setup into a meaty or mixup if they DWU?
I’m not understanding you. I thought the whole point of DWU, and other changes, was that they eliminated unblockables?
Also, with respect to the Makoto vs Bison vid I posted above, do you think her trading Bison’s c.lk after the lk sk with her jab is anything new or is it the result of the -1 change. Cause this is the kind of situation that is going to get worse.
They really need to give Bison that 3 frame c.jab back.
@exogen
Of course it’s the -1 change. We can still beat jabs with another SK, or maybe a whiff punish, but it’s riskier. Having a 3 frame c.jab would not change anything.
@bird
Yeah DWU was their solution to unblockables unfortunately, and not a very elegant one.
About the wakeup setups, I dunno about Bison specifically, but to me it seems like nobody has still found an optimal solution to DWU.
The way I see it, we have 3 options:
you guess whether if the opponent has used DWU or not, and go for an accordingly timed crossup / unblockable. Of course, this is the riskiest option.
You go for a safe jump, which becomes a meaty if DWU was used. Safest option, but very weak in terms of mixup ability and ambiguity.
You just approach the opponent from the ground, maybe walk back and forward at a safe range for ambiguity, and then go for the usual frame trap / throw mixup. A bit more ambiguous than 2), and probably the best option.
This is literally the only part of your post that you care about. You wanted to show people how right you are. That’s it. Nothing else. It inspired the rest of your (incorrect) speculative bullshit post.
Come on fellas, let’s not start fighting with each other again. Remember the enemies of Shadowloo are great in number and we have hordes of noobs at every turn trying to spoil the fun so dictator is neutered before he ever has a fighting chance.
I’d like to discuss the ultra 2 charge time reduction. It seems good but I think it just improves matchups it was already useful in and not widen it’s actual uses.
With a 40 frame charge time Bison can hide U2 behind jumps and slides. Can combo easier from hell attack. Kind of dumb to reduce the damage though.
A Japanese Ibuki player has on Cammy. I’ll post later if I come across the video again, as I’m about to go the second I post this lol.
No guys, it’s not Sako. The Arcade system has more than 1 Ibuki player registered on the system. I think he’s #12 in the Arcades, and #2 online, I’m not sure so don’t quote me on that. Cammy also has modified setups, of course with the damage/stun nerf, it won’t be as bad now.
I’m thinking you can probably do close to the same setups against DWU utilizing forward dash canceling c.LK and then jumping right after.
The dash canceling ends like about 2~3 frames earlier, you whiff the c.LK and it lines up about 11 frames of animation and align it along with the DWU off the hard knockdown and voila… it should work on paper.
Now presumably this will still work unless your opponant activates DWU in which case you’ll have already landed by the time your opponant wakes up right? Then we’ll have to work out some tech for what to do next.
Alternatively the unblockable doesn’t work anymore and just becomes an ambigious cross up to be blocked one way or the other.
AFAIK, they adjusted the hit detection in the game so that unblockables don’t work anymore. So even if you run the same setup and the opponent doesn’t DWU, it just becomes an ambiguous crossup. DWU is just an extra escape option on top of that.
