Thanks Zaspacer you’re a fucking legend when it comes to helping out!
Hope it helps.
I am just one of many of the people here who try to help out, and I don’t do it nearly as frequently as many of the other posters.
Just to name two, Mackdaddi has been very helpful in this thread, and JigglyNorris is helpful across many threads.
New question for Zaspacer, jiggly and macki.
I’m having hard time trying to cross-up with fierce kick. The main guys I’m having trouble nailing is Boxer, chun and DeeJay. When do you exactly hit kick so it nails them behind the head for the TOD and the win, I either do it too early or too late. Another scenario is that fat fuck Honda when I’m in the middle of the screen light honda HYAKKAN OTOSHI’s(splash)into ochio’s own Dictator for free. Very hard to predict and feels like another Zangief match when I’m trapped in the corner. Please help and thanks for your godlike advice.
Boxer is hard as fuck to cross-up period. You’re better off using forward to cross him up.
Chun and Boxer, you need to be just above their head and throw it out. Timing is more strict than forward. I’d say you’re really better off using forward in almost any situation (unless you do the 5 hit Cross-up RH, St.Shortx3, St.RH).
As for Bison vs. Honda, watch these:

As good as Thelo’s Honda is, we should also leave some advice for how to deal with Honda’s with a more aggressive gameplan than Thelo may employ. I’ll leave one piece of info as a start, if you get your super, hold it for a reversal to escape after getting knocked down. That is unless you are 100% sure that it will kill him in another situation (IE. j.strong juggle, chip damage). It’s a lot easier for Honda to kill you off a random knockdown in the corner than for you to escape using anything that isn’t a super.
Considering that he took 5th at EVO, whatever I did in that video worked awesome against more aggressive Honda’s.
Not really. A good Dictator should be able to use a cross-up jumping forward, roundhouse, and jab against everyone and get a good five-hitter against everyone except Claw (because of Claw’s thin standing hitbox).
If you absolutely cannot get the cross-up down on a character, for the short term just try to head-stomp them, use devil’s hand, or go for a meaty low forward or slide and play around with options after that. Altogether though if you actually want to be solid using Dictator you need to be able to land jumping attacks and perform the four and five hit combos with maximum consistency.
If you can’t land the cross-up combos most of the time you will have to work so much harder to win as Dictator that it won’t be worth it to play as him. With top Dictators, they are good at everything fundamental about playing as Dictator, so they can win without having to use those huge combos very often. But what puts them over the top is that when they get an opportunity to end the round in one hit (all it takes is one) they get it more often than miss.
I’m not saying rely on the touch of death and go for knockdowns every second, but certainly make sure you are very consistent with it. Everyone always says “Dictator’s bread and butter combos are easy” well they aren’t. It takes good execution to be top level as any character in ST and Dictator is no exception.
Also doing cross-up into 3xStanding Short into Standing Roundhouse is than doing a charge combo where you cancel into Fierce Psycho Crusher. I believe that it also does less dizzy and it also doesn’t knockdown.
Don’t just waste your SUPER though whenever you get knocked down. If Honda (or your opponent with any other character) is close enough you can reversal throw and save your meter. Also top players will bait a reversal SUPER with a very early normal and then try to throw or attack you out of the recovery.
Nasty shenanigans like sKVjpAGnMTQ&#t=6m50s"]cross-up head-stomp are your friend against Honda players. Here are the final matches between a world class Dictator player and a top Honda player.
Thank you brothers! Will practice and execute until the next problem arises. Thank you once again. Guys like you peeps make this place memorable.
Anytime dude.
I recommend changing your gamespeed to 0 then heading into training mode and checking out each opponent.
Turn on hit boxes, knock the opponent down, then get a handle on:
Keep the hitboxes on, and spend some time crossing them up from their standing positions.
Use each move you want to do a cross-up with.
Then knock them down and try to time crossing them up with the same moves.
After you’re comfortable with it, change the speed back to normal and get used to it at that speed.
Playing at speed 0 helps you understand better where/when everything is.
Playing at regular speed helps in getting your timing down for actual gameplay.
Boxer and Dee Jay have pretty narrow and tall hit boxes, so you generally want to hit them high up and just behind their center point.
Dictator’s Forward cross-up has a 3-frame start-up and its hit box extends pretty low.
Dictator’s Roundhouse cross-up has a 5-frame start-up and its hit box is pretty high up.
So with the Roundhouse you generally have to be more precise with both timing and spacing than the Forward for it to hit.
I’m reviewing footage of ST fights to get better at the Honda matchup right now.
You can view these at http://streetfighterdojo.com/superturbo/dictator/dictatormatches.html#EHonda
Also, check out the footage JigglyNorris posted.
You want to look for scenarios in the footage that give you a hard time, and see what the players do in those situations.
Also, you want to see how the Dictator players set-up and delivered the damage to the opponent.
And you want to see how the opponent sets-up and delivers their damage to the Dictator player.
I watch these types of matches over-and-over to try and pick out the gems.
You’ll catch stuff on later viewings after you know the matchup better, that on earlier viewings you didn’t even notice.
Check out the differences here:

Thanks Za and Virtua very much. I got an invite by Miggs78/79 and got the worst beating by a DJ player to date. I find it very hard to lockdown that Jamaician drug lord as spamming max outs have sooo much priority. My typical match starts with me jumping back right away and going into the fetal position in the corner waiting my death. I can’t torpedo off the bat or eat a maxout. I can’t jump in or eat a jacknife. Go for a headstomp and get declined with a light jab. Once I’m in the corner it’s pretty much chip damage me til death due us part. I tried to devils reverse the fuck out after 2 max outs but as soon as I take off miggs was clipping my wings with a jumping light punch for the lockdown. I tried to torpedo out of the corner but DJ can jacknife me after absorbing the torpedo and nailing me on the way out. When it comes to DJ spamming med kick crossups don’t even go there…
Thanks in advance bros.
I’ll leave some advice. Don’t jump at him, dont fierce psycho crusher, don’t get knocked down, and never, ever let him grab you.
The T.Akiba data for ST show the noogie as having greater range than Dictator’s throw, but then the noogie range got nerfed in HDR, so has this been verified that Dictators throw is now superior to the noogie grab range? (And if so - how?)
