If Fei Long ever does a CW and misses, knock him down. This is the biggest chance you will ever get. Sirlin did one from across the screen and that Bison player didn’t capitalize on.
The best advice I can tell you about being in the corner is to forget about actually fighting Fei Long and look for the quickest way out, because getting out of that CW lockdown isn’t fun at all. If he’s walking forward, ducking, walking forward, ducking, predict when he’ll walk forward again and throw out a Scissor Kick to knock him down and you’re out (and this can really go for any character).
Be very careful about the times where you do a fierce Psycho Crusher because if it gets blocked, HI, HI, WOOHOO!!!, and you’re knocked down, which usually means you’re getting pushed into the corner.
as far as i can tell, reversal crusher and scissors go THROUGH short CW or you get knocked down, and get stuffed by short flame kick, so arent much of a punish.
Going through the Chicken Wing is better than being trapped, I say. It’s an option. I wonder if there’s a move in Dictator’s arsenal that would go through and recover quickly enough for him to turn around, catch up to Fei and start his own mind games.
I was under the impression that if you block the CW deep enough, you can reversal throw fei out of his recovery, have you tried messing with his spacing?
I just started playing DIc for 2 Weeks now and i think he’s a lot of fun, but i’m having hell of a time against other dics. It seems all the 2 Dic’s are doing is jumping with MP juglle, then thro. Is this really how this mirror match si supposed to be played?
Hey Spatz. I posted a similar question about 5 pages back, post# 619, take a look at the replies I got for some good info. If you’re looking for some tips, for what it’s worth, I figured out that you?re generally better off going for the rushdown in this matchup cause you?re at a serious disadvantage against an attacking dictator. Watch out for the j.MP juggle as you figured out. If you predict it, straight up jumping roundhouse, cr HP, or standing jab are good anti airs, but be careful, as it?s got lots of range as an air to ground attack, and can start off a dizzy combo if you miss it. Try to stick with LK and MK scissor kicks in this matchup too, so if you get blocked you?re not right inside throw range. Crouching medium kick is your “go-to” move if you want to poke someone, it’s fast and hi priority. Standing medium and heavy kicks are great for pressuring too. Avoid using fierce crusher against a grounded opponent, it?s easy to punish for dictator especially from distance, and you’ll usually end up cornering yourself too.Standing jab beats it, or if it?s blocked, HK when it crosses over will tag it every time. It?s good as an anti air sometimes if they jump up or back, depending on spacing. If you predict a jump, you can use jab crusher to tag it.
Learn bison?s 2 or 3 key combos, Jumping HK/HP, crouching MK, xx Fierce Crusher, his 5 Hit TOD combo, and his crossup TOD combo are ones you should really get the hang of, and it?s also good to have a punish combo from the ground too. I like st.LK, cr.MK, xx Crusher/Scissors. Just take out the st.LK if you?re not feeling confident with it yet. Counter throw any chance you get when a combo isn?t practical, or is too risky (sometimes this matchup is a bit of a throw-fest). Also you want to corner the other bison as much as possible. The j.MP juggle is good for this. It can hit twice in the one jump, but if possible use it with 3 separate jumps to juggle them back into the corner and start a lockdown( see below). Use fake slide and devil?s reverse to bait stuff, and learn dic?s ambiguous crossups. Mixing up j.MK and j.HK as a crossup can really mess up your opponent it?s tough to judge both of those. One of my favourite shenanigans is a meaty cr.HP to get a stun after you?ve scored some big damage on a knockdown, it?s totally safe if you time it right, and although it starts slow and takes ages to come out, it beats almost anything in terms of priority once it?s out. It?s a great surprise to use on a waking up opponent. His j.MK as an instant overhead is good too, but it?s riskier, you should only really use it to score a KO or a dizzy, because it leaves you open to a counter, even if it hits. Jumping LK is a really good hi priority move in the air if you need to jump and want to cover yourself all the way.
Check out http://streetfighterdojo.com/ . It?s got some great video clips on Dic vs Dic matches and how to play them, and a good video of an excellent corner lockdown for dic mirror matches. Yuuvega and Taira are the players to learn from, they?re widely regarded as the best in the world, and there are some great shenanigans videos on youtube of NKI and other dic players showing plenty of dictator tricks to add to your gameplay. Search youtube for ?risk never sleeps? and you should find them.
Good luck. Looking forward to some mirror matches with you.
Wow like always a very good post from you Mackdaddi!!thanks a lot in advance. I know both web-pages and locked at the stuff for more than once. 2 thinks that are difficult for me is bisons jump arc. Its totally different from blanka. Also i do miss blanka’s easy crossup jumping LK with bison it’s much harder to get a crossup, at least for me either i’m to close and jump way over the opponent or i’m to far and don’t get the crossup. also bison beeing this long in the air makes it much easier for the opponents to counter jump-ins.
yeah i know about the LK–>SK rinse repeat, but i don’t know i can’t get the charge for the SK after 1 LK. I guess it’s all about training but for now i have some problems.
J.HK–>d.MK–>PC is my main combo for now. I sometimes get j.HK–>LK–>d.MK–>PC but it’s very inconsistent. either i don’t get the link between LK and d.MK but more often i don’t get the PC after the MK even so i nearly alway get it after the other combo mentioned above.
Hope to meet you 1 day online so we can do some matches.I managed to beat my bro wolfman with his blanka about 50% of the time so i guess my bison is looking into the right direction
i’ll try to get some training against billj and his ryu too, we often play together.
oh yeah i got destroyed by nappyNightmares zangief…normally i deal with them by just doing MK, slide and counter-jump MP-juggle, but against him one error meant death, do you know him or have any good tricks for this matchup?oh yeah he beat my headstomp with j.LP every time, no gief had done this to me before…
Yeah, that?s pretty much it in that matchup, one mistake and you can die really easily. If gief gets close he?s really scary. Keep him at a distance, bait lariats and punish them with slide. A good trick is to stomp him, then fly away to a little more than half the screen distance, and then slide back in immediately. A lot of giefs will lariat as soon as you land a stomp, just on reaction to try to catch you out of the air if you skull dive, this will catch them out, your slide will trip them up out of their lariat every time (Incidentally the same shenanigan is good to counter blanka?s electricity counter after you stomp on his head). Standing HK is good to keep gief at a distance on the ground. Throw it out as a poke to keep him back from you. Watch for his jump ins, and meet them with j.MP if you can. Make him afraid to jump in from mid distance. Keep out of the way of his j.HK, it?s ridiculously good, you can sometimes anti air it with st.LP but I wouldn?t recommend it, it?s big risk for little reward. Stay far away from him, and try to get in, do damage, and get back out.If you don?t telegraph your headstomps you?re pretty safe at distance, but fly away as soon as you stomp, don?t try to do a follow up skull diver, or he?ll lariat you out of the air and then tick throw you to death.
If you?re cornered against him and you have a feeling he?s going for a jump in HK, crouching LP/LK tick into SPD you can usually jump backwards in the corner after the low tick and his SPD will whiff, leaving him wide open for a big combo. You can try a TOD if you want, but your 3 hit one will let you crusher out of the corner, so consider sticking with that until you?re more confident. I like surprising giefs with this escape. The way to play this match is run away all day. You?ve got to be disciplined, only use LK scissors against him if you have to scissor kick, and if you get blocked jump back out of range immediately once you recover. Don?t try to block.MK or HK scissors if you don?t connect puts you really deep, and gets you a SPD, and lots of trouble, If you do get caught deep, mash the throw button for all you?re worth, and hope you get lucky.
Resist the temptation to crusher him unless you absolutely have to, it?s too easy for him to knock you down, and start his jump in BS.
The scariest thing gief does to me is his jump in fierce body splash in the corner over and over again, and eventually an SPD when you block too much. You can slide out from under this if you predict it, but unfortunately it?s a guessing game whether he?s going to tick into SPD on the ground or Jump again and body splash you a second time. Guess wrong and you die.
Keep your distance in this match and don?t be baited into doing anything stupid.Your headstomp and your devil?s reverse are your main means of getting back into space versus gief, if you get good at using them to escape when he advances on you, you can literally hit and run him all day and leave him walking back and forth up and down the stage trying to catch you, but if you telegraph a move and he jumps and intercepts you it?s big trouble.
Edit: I nearly forgot, concentrate on building meter any chance you get. If you have a spare second and some space do a devil’s reverse to build meter safely, and when you get meter KEEP IT. Don’t throw out random supers, it’s a waste of time, and you’ll be glad you kept your super if you need a corner escape later.
thanks a lot again mackdaddi. are you online tomorrow or the WE for some games, i sure can learn a thing or 2 from your bison. I played De maverick and all i got was a loss after the next without learning very much. we also have some lag-issuses but i don’t want to make excuses he’s mile above me just so are you. but hey, bison is really fun to play especially when you get his combos to hit an do some tod’s.
one thing he has in common with blanka once they get in they have to deal big damage.
Haha, DeMavrick is the best bison on XBL at the moment for my money. Him and JigglyNorris are excellent. I?ll be on over the next couple of nights in the early evening, we can start a private room if you want to spar a bit, but after saturday I?l be on vacation for a few weeks so you won?t see me on live.
Yes, st.MK is definitely good too, it’s really fast. cr.MK, st.MK is a good poke string and you can sometimes be cheeky with a LK Scissors after it if they try a counter but be careful.
Yep, this is great if you can get the spacing right. You need to be a little further back than for st.Jab but it’s big damage and good priority. That’s a great option for this matchup.
Didn’t get to spar with you yesterday.I was on but didn’t see you.I’ll be on this evening (in about 10 hours time) if you want to jump in, but then then no more xbox for me for about 3 weeks.
no yesterday was my day offline ;). i will try to get online today. if i can’t make it don’t bother i will hit you up after your holidays. btw i will be gone too from 21th to 4th september, 2 weeks of cyprus, perhaps i could pass to greece and visit billjmninja for some offline matches LOL
