M.Bison Combo/Tech Thread: Psycho Power!

That’s your own opinion I’m learning bison now and I really like him, I’ll play him how I like also being dismissive is unproductive

No, it’s not an opinion. It’s factual.
As I said, it has been discussed. It’s not like the information cannot be found here.
These setups have been found months ago, posted here, discussed here and dismissed here.
Better setups have already been found. Use them.

I like to use Blast in that situation after slide (no CC). I use Hpblast first to get the timing,90 percent of the time they see it as their turn to wake with buttons to catch the recovery or jump and get hit with the next blast. I miss out on a CC opportunity if I donk Hk after the first blast whiff, but the first blast catches back recoveries and is extremely plus on block due to it hitting meaty if they just guard.

I found something interesting when working on my setups

When you do MP Inferno on Hit and LK Scissor after and they quick recover if you throw you will even catch 3f jabs

so is it because of the space or because the throw becomes extremely meaty ?

Extremely meaty

Yep, you can also use psycho axe after mp inferno and get a throw against 3-frame jabs.

inferno > axe > throw works for me and you can also swap the throw for a cr.lp CH.

Hey guys,

I know I’m a new user (been lurking in an out for about a year, only just created an account due to the requirement).

I’ve seen a bunch of meaty setups in 1s and 2s, not really anything that covered more than a few cases. I made this video about a month ago, and thought you might appreciate seeing a bunch of meaty setups. Most are ST HK or Axe Crush Counter setups. There were a few that I couldn’t get that way at all.

All of these meaties were tested vs Necalli’s 3f ST LP

The way I came up with the setups was by trying to collapse all the different wakeup speeds into 1 option for each move that caused any kind of knockdown. I was able to accomplish that with most of them, there were a few that I could not. Many of these you should also be able to switch between the Crush Counter, or a walk forward (for some amount of time) and Throw.

I’m not asking for likes, nevermind subs. Hopefully you guys find it useful. Bison isn’t doing well, and it’s up to us to make sure the Dictator stays relevant.

I think meaties were already researched, but seriously, it won’t help us.
They can and will block most of them with ease because, seriously, there’s no mixup if Bison is not at point blank.

After EX Headpress, for example, you Axe them. They block. Now you’re at +1, but far. There’s no menace.
Unfortunately, even if none of us knew the stuff you presented in this video, nothing would change about Bison’s efficiency.

The character is seriously flawed.

VERY useful. Bison is best when the other player doesnt get a chance to play. Thanks man. The moves I use to frame kill were way less consistent.

Your actually at +2 if they block and +7 on hit after that set up. If its a VT EX.Head Press your close enough to combo in S.MP, C.MP xx MP.Inferno if the Psycho Axe hits.

The problem is your not close enough to throw them on block so your opponent can just safely block meaning your not going get much mileage out of it other than racking up a small amount of grey damage or chip damage.

Having said that, its probably not widely known that the set up leaves you at +2, and characters with 3 frame normal’s may think, hey I’ll just take the normal trade to end the pressure as they normally do only to find themselves getting counter hit by a C.LP from Bison, which can then link into C.MP xx whatever.

Neat, I’ll have to try using this!

I have a nice bulk of meaty stuff listed all against 3F like pages back.

It’d be cool to optimize stuff that’ll put Bison in better positions to pressure with meaty s.HK or df.HP

There’s very little Bison can do to pressure people on wake up. They just block and you push yourself out.

I can’t tell from your comment if you’re saying that

  1. Because I made 99% of the meaties use ST HK or Axe, it was really cool or
  2. You would like to optimize your stuff to use ST HK or Axe

Almost everywhere in my video, where ST HK is used, you can walk a moment and then throw. Both are visually similar enough, and the setup tight enough, that no one can react in time without using Delay Tech. Delay tech has its own weaknesses once you realized it’s being used.

I’ll go check out your stuff. It’s good to have multiple options for meaties. (think I found it on page 5)

Also, I don’t know if anybody else has the answer to this, if Bison’s s.HK and df.HP won’t crush past the first active frame?

I’ve been playing some Balrog and there’s instances I don’t crush with crouch HP and just get a regular counter hit instead.

Some people’s moves don’t crush unless it’s on the first frame, like Karin’s stand fierce. I’d never counterhit and not crushed with st hk.

Bison’s Axe will crush in all 3 of its active frames (I’ve seen it crush with the swing still high, in the middle, and at the opponent’s foot). ST HK will crush the first frame of a 4 frame normal and the first of a 3 frame normal, so it must crush during all 3 of its active frames as well.

I feel like you cant mash the buttons. You still have to time it a bit otherwise you do it too early and you get hit by the jab right ?

I have to admit, I don’t know what you’re asking about.
