Read over the thread, do whatever you want, just realize that the same logic you’re presenting can be said for other low tier players like zaza, mikez.
Anyway, I have nothing to say about this topic save a manner duel.

he’s not worth playing games with imo
gotta have a pretty high tolerance for cheeze if you want to play marvel
maybe you should just slap him with big combos that aren’t infinites
seriously, quit wasting ur time:sweat::sad:
edit: i just watched zach vs cj again, the look on zachs faces post match is priceless ;p
It is not right and quite Foolish to beast on noobs guys, at least if you want newer players to come around.
I know from experience sadly that if i bitchslap a noob everytime with no mercy, he will eventually get frustrated, think MVC2 is too complicated and quit never to return. However if i only PWN a noob occasionally, and otherwise take it easier on him its a lot more ENCOURAGEMENT to continue playing.
There is this one former noob in particular that i did this with a year ago, and now he is a regular at my arcade. I see him improve a little everyday. Had i just whipped his ass with no mercy from the start, i highly doubt he’d still be playing.
Actually this is part of the reason i got hooked on low-tiers. With my cable/sent/cyke team, i was DESTROYING too many players and didn’t want to discourage others. So i picked up low-tiers to even things out, give myself more of a challenge, and them more of a chance.
Yeah my Cable/sent/cyke team would seriously piss off the average player. Not just those i destroyed either, even players who won against me would be pissed off afterwards despite their win.
Yeah, but those who whine and get frustrated about getting beasted are the ones I DON’T want to com back.
Here in nashville, we get newcomers in the arcade all the time, that get beasted without vasaline, and put more money inot the machine.
hell, 300 lb eugene is far ahead of me in skill level. I have like a 1-20 win ratio to him. But I keep playing him.
whY?
1.They realize it’s just a game.
2.They realize they’ll get better by losing.
3. I give them advice anyway.
If you’re surrounded by babies you gotta babysit…
it’s not like I want them to suck
But the thing is, they’re not babies. What you want for them doesn’t matter. It’s what they want for themselves.
I can understand that way of thinking, but I just don’t agree with it.
…
…Ok, I may not go ALL out (I may not be forced to), but I’m not going to let them win.
Tiger, some people want to be winners, others just settle for mediocricy.
I’m surrounded by the mediocures. I 5 fierce the guy and reset 5 fierce again he’ll literally drop the controls in frustration.
yeah, so I don’t have much to work with unfortunately.
Whats a better team? Bison/Sent proj/Im aa or Bison sent ground and cyke aa?
the latter
but do what you like, the first may have some good setups and tricks for Bison
You’re just wrong. It’s OK. You said:
… that’s just wrong. Let’s move on.
True, true, not what I said (against the buster, fuck the rockball), and true.
Mag/Sent-Y is a pretty tough match-up for Megaman, if you want a good anti-Megaman Magneto team. But there’s no good player I know of who feels that a Magneto vs Megaman match-up is generally in Magneto’s favor, possibly because most people aren’t mental enough to want to play Mag-Sent-Y. It’s becoming more common for Mag teams to have Mag simply run away from Megaman because that’s really about his best option, but that just mean it’s rockball time + build meter.
It’d be better to practice resets from the ROM or to practice fancy juggle combos. Babying somebody doesn’t buy you anything useful.
Play in Training Room if he really doesn’t want his characters to die. Otherwise you’re doing your own skills a disservice. But this thread is about Low Tier Teams, not about you or me or your friend.
The guy dislikes me. It’s OK. We’re on SRK and I’m giving him a clean slate. A lot of people get confused by the fact that I do have horrible execution. But they need to bear in mind that if you extrapolate out what you could do if you had good execution… if you hate on me, that’s cool, but then imagine your own leet skills playing the same team I’m using, and imagine what you could do with it. I don’t care that I’m bad. I’ve got other things to do in life like rock out to Diplo tonight. :bgrin:
I fucked up so much in that match and I felt pretty bad about it (driving 18 hours straight from Seattle to NorCal == Zonked Zach). I think I deliberately didn’t play Megaman next match because I felt shamed. The opening I was being safe and didn’t do the cross-under option-reset which does 70-80% life, late in the match when I let him cold swap in Psylocke that’s supposed to be cHK into rollable OTG Tron xx AHVB for OMG damage, blah blah blah. It just seemed to me that he wasn’t really ready for Megaman (well, and you’re taking minimum 10% damage any time you get hit, so you don’t have a lot of room to screw up). He did the smart thing the next time we played and picked Storm-Sent-AA. The last time we played (Evo2k7 worlds) he picked MSP again (it looked like he was trying some new tactics) and I pulled that out. Fanatiq used MST against me (2-1 him), but I’m 99.9% certain that the only reason that worked was due to one-button dash (which minimizes the screw-ups that Megaman can so painfully exploit/recover from).
Please respect that you’re dealing with friends who are interested in sharing and building knowledge. I’ve deliberately changed the topic pretty much every time I posted away from your feelings on Megaman (most of which are wrong, sorry, nothing personal) to other interesting match-ups in the low tier space. Jesse, the guy who started this thread, and I go back 3-4 years at least. I’m interested in helping him out. He’s the only reason I can beat Eder half the time.
I dunno. I think the best part about Marvel is that you can pretty much get away with playing anybody in the game if you’re patient enough. At the high tier play levels things do get limited pretty quickly, though, where you DO need to pick counter low tier as opposed to random “favorite” low tier teams. My basic trio of teams is Megaman/Cable/Tron , Magnus/Cable/Tron, and Cable/Capcom/Tron , all of which counter a pretty big swath of teams. Blackheart-based teams are usually the only substantial problem area, but that’s usually mitigated by the fact that most Blackheart players block really poorly. (This is actually true.)
Sonson and Chun-Li can both be very fun anti-airs to use simply because they let you combo into ridiculous things. I believe it was Potter who I saw using MSChun and having Magnus begin his combo at the very top of the screen (since they don’t get block recovery until they pretty much go offscreen).
Zangief-A is another dumb anti-air you can use. That works very well with Captain America or Iceman. Iceman for the dumb ability to chip them while they can’t move, and Captain America you can do (this is from memory) something like (they get hit by Gief) jHK HK lkCharging Star xx Final Justice for 80%+ life. The timing is really tight on that last cancel, but obviously that’s pretty much one character down.
Issariya always liked BBHood/Juggernaut/CapCom . You have the normal brutal supers of BBHood and Juggernaut plus the meanly crossing up THC (if they jump, press the THC “win” button…).
I’m always really amused by Cool Breeze from Texas who plays Iceman/Storm/Sent. It’s not really manifestly a great Iceman team, but … random/Storm/Sent or random/Cable/Sent is always a good way to sneak in a low tier. For the most part (and he can certainly explain it better…), he seems to try to run away and build a little meter and then combo into Ice Super xx Hail Storm.
Silver Samurai/Doom/Cyke isn’t bad since Cyke helps them both out a lot. If you relink Sam’s Lightning Super on an assist once, you’ll never want to pick any other team. Damage is sick.
preppy, what about double megabuster that only covers one angle?:lovin:
instead of a pattern that looks like this
–>
–>
Shoultzula made up a double that comes out like below
–>
it looks a lot like rush glitch fireball i guess, i try to time it like doing a cable headshot and then landing with immediate s.fp
double rocketpunch:wgrin:
Double buster on the same plane is the funk. Preppy, I saw a mexican player (no joke) do sj, release the charged buster, falling sj.fp, land fp.
3 projectiles on the screen @ once. He was using the charge buster as extra fp buster. Pretty smart actually since the lockdown becomes tighter.
@ the proper heights, you can do sj, immediate release charged buster, falling sj.fp and hold, Land, sj, immediately release charged buster, falling sj.fp and repeat.
Speaking of Bison, i just tried using him recently. Anybody here consider themselves “Good” with him? His moves are awkward, launcher sucks+stupid chargefist ruins a successful launch if one is not CAREFUL, movements are slow, supers are hard to combo into if at all, his flipkick super is the only reliable one to hit most of the time.
If i could hack my own version: I’d Remove the charge headstomp & fist moves because in a game like this those are a bad idea and only get in the way, i’d give his launcher the jill-treatment for better range, remove start-up/lag on projectiles, change the flipkick & fireball to simpler QCF motions, make his supers the “instant” kind that combos easily(Ex: P,P, Super), and last but not least i’d increase his movement speed a little.
Bison seems to be a really POORLY designed character for MVC2 gameplay. Perhaps things like start-up time on projectiles and headstomping were acceptable in the StreetFighter universe, in MVC2 he is just going to get PUNISHED if attempting them.
foot stomp super does hella damage
and double psycho crusher air combos are nice
I like how the computer TRIES that ghetto lockdown with his explosion super
Foot stomp, you mean the flipkick super right? And that explosion ball super would be pretty cool were it not for the start up time.
At least bison has decent assists.
flip kick super with bison is horrible. Get a small character and let them crouch it, shit just misses and bison is free to be punished.
and bisons explosion ball is fukn awesome. He leaves before its activated so if your opponent blocks it, you can call another 1 for free. Gotta have a character that chains well though or can cover good angles so it becomes of some use.
The head stomp isn’t that bad. Its pretty good for people who want to run away because you can head stomp off screen. You can also cause random xups with that fly down hand move. Drive that mother fucker.
Preppy you really are despicable. You’re egotisitical and deluded. You’re the biggest hypocrite by a long shot. Who’s the one who is pushing this thread off topic? You.
Going around pushing people around and trolling doesn’t make you right, nor does deliberately negging my reputation.
You want to keep arguing this? Are you going to be at ECC 12.5? I’ll destroy your Megaman. I’ll like to see you keep me away as you said with busters and tornado hold, no assists.
horrible, but still damaging.
he can get glitch gambit right?
bison/doom is nice. good chip and coverage for teleports and crossups. i like my bison.
PS: Shaded calm down preppy is layin down his knowledge on megaman, i like his mega over alot of peoples magnetos, its just a bad match up guy.
I’ve never tried to get a glitched gambit before. haha bison might just get stuck up there I know he can get storm\mag off screen. Bison got hops!
bison\doom is serious.
