Any level you’d recommend when running solo? So far I’ve been doing 6-3. It’s not short (maybe 30 min) but I usually at least get 17K per round (35K w/ Superstar ability). Could probably get more if I activated all 7 data posts after you touchdown from orbit, but I haven’t memorized where they all are on the map.
I’m Completely addicted to this game and lovin’ the online coop!
I have a “cool story bro’” to share:
I was playing yesterday with 2 Japanese guys and a US guy with a mic on PSN (if it’s someone from SRK that be awsome!).
The US guy didn’t really talk in the mic, as the chances that the two Japanese guys speak English are pretty slim and I have a Swiss flag next to my user name, and I know most of people don’t even know “what” Switzerland" is…
Anyway, we were on the 1-2 hole passage mission, and I made everyone wait forever because I wanted to fully charge the VS’s gatling guns before fighting the boss in the next area…
It took me a long time to repair the VS, and gather all gatling guns lying around and attach/add them to it… finally, I proudly get there with a fully charged/restored VS.
One Japanese guy and the US guy grip the legs of my VS thinking that I know what I am doing and that the fight will go smoothly as I must be aiming for a high rank…
Mission starts, boss appears…
and I fucked up my jump trying to avoid the spikes, and ended up straight into the water with the fully charged VS and the 2 guys holding onto it…
I was like FFFFFUUUUUUUUUU…
Then I just heard (for the first time) the US guy in the mic saying: "Dude! …seriously?!?.."
and he disconnected!
Anyone else had one of these “damn, I fucked up big time!” moments?
Never that bad.
Best “Damn it Furry” moment was in 3-2 against the pair of big eared akrid. Me and my four man crew, featuring Gasarki and ParryAll I do believe and one other guy were struggling to stay alive and we manged to beat both of them with only 500 left on the battle gauge. I had Gum Head Start on so whenever I’d respawn I’d have a ton of grenades to throw. Suffice to say I threw one too many as the last one was keeling over and I ran into my own grenade trying to get boxes. We all laughed though and proceeded to rape them the second time around.
I don’t know the best one because I haven’t looked into it. I know that you can do 1-2 (Normal) in 8 minutes and get like 12k Points with Superstar. Which nets you a few more points over time than 6-3. I think you are supposed to get a whole ton of Points for hitting the secret spot on the 5-2 Spider Boss (on the center of his back).
Dammit, sometimes I just want to play alone for a little while, but the bots on your squad about as helpful as a double-amputee with a nerf dart-gun most of the time. Terrible, man…it’s almost the same as having NO squad at all.
…and fuck 5-3 for real man. That level is too much “work”, imo. I’d rather farm points on the other stages that have been mentioned (ones that can be finished in a matter of minutes, solo if you like.)…though I haven’t tried 6-2 yet; I haven’t even played that one again since my first play-thru of the game, actually.
5-3 is easy! Use the T-Eng Supply Boost ability (gives you more t-eng at the start) and as soon as the mission starts hit the first data post (you are playing on easy right?). From there go straight for the cannon and you should have enough energy before running out to…
- destroy all four wings
- destroy the cannon twice
- take down a few VS Ospreys
- take out a couple of gun turrets
Once it’s time to board the ship, hit up Data Post 2 and 3 and grab a heavy weapon for the VS on the enemy ship and kill the enemies as they spawn once you activate the control post.
I have it down to a science now.
Another way to tackle 5-3 is using Melee 2. What I do is grapple to data post 1. Then I run across the ship, grapple onto the thermal generator near the side turrets, and grapple to data post 2. Next, I grapple my way back up to the main cannon. I crouch next to the thermal generator up there and wait for the enemy cannon to close. I’ve had it fire on me, so I don’t go straight for the cannon. Once you get in the cannon, charge up, and fire. With Melee 2, you can take down three wings in one shot. After that, destroy the turrets, the last wing, and the osprey. Finally, destroy the enemy cannon.
After that phase, I grab the heavy weapon, destroy the VS, and capture the post.
It’s really with Melee 2 and you can get 10000+ credits. The last few rounds I got 18000 credits. If you equip superstar, you can get the same amount of credits and around 8000 career points. However, I like doing everything with Melee 2 because it speeds things up and is less frustrating.
Ah yeah, I just don’t know what the exact requirements are to get 20K from killing the spider (some people say you have to destroy all 4 legs as well as hit the secret spot). Whatever it is, it’s usually a toss-up for me getting across to his back in the first place. Half the time I’ll get knocked off to my death by those spores he releases.
And damn you Capcom, of all the obscure games to reference, why didn’t you include a Dino Crisis nom? It would’ve been perfect for the fugly Regina I made
I still need the title “Band of Brothers” for completing the game with 4 players. I’m down for any difficulty if yall want to play.
The “points” rule/mode for Team Elimination makes no damn sense to me. I know how it works, but it just seems fucking retarded. Battle Gauge seems to be the only way to go for TE. Post Grab is what I play 99% of the time, though. If Counter Grab was in ranked, it’d be that instead.
What system you play on? I have both
yeah points is funny, since you don’t know how many points an enemy has until you have them in your sights its kinda random. I agree taht battle gauge is best, but post grab is better. Counter grab is way too hard of a game mode for me though lol
Why not just make Regina? Really the only limits to fan service in this game is Capcom’s time and money.
And beyond that, to keep things fresh even with the original levels, remix the enemies on stages.
what is weird is even though i have not completed the game yet i can play with the character class from the first episode in the 3rd episode, which is weird. like it started out my lvl 23 dude on episode 3 when i was supposed to start at 1?
anyway episode 3 is pretty beastly. it is the most difficult episode so far.

A quick question about the PTX VS (Hardballer, yeah you know from TvC); how do you exactly activate the chainsaw? Sometimes it comes out random as a swipe during a close encounter with an enemy. But I’ve seen people actually have it activated on the PTX’s arm the whole time.
- Send me a FR when you have 2 others and we can knock out whatever difficulty you guys haven’t cleared yet.
Eps 1 and 3 use the same Faction, the Rounders. The ep1 group was the Mercenaries, the ep3 group is the Waysiders, but they are both “Rounders” as far as the leveling up is concerned
If you look at the VS manuals in the PDA, for all VS with special abilities you can access a “Special Functions” menu by pressing square(ps3)/X(360). For the Harballer chainsaw, press the Left Stick down, and then L1/LT. To activate it and keep it out, press left stick down, HOLD L1/LT, then release, and it will activate without slashing and stay out. It uses t-eng the entire time it’s active though so be aware of that. To deactivate, do the same thing, left stick, hold L1/LT, release.
will do
thanks yo, i had that answered today when playing with someone from srk.
one thing i dont like about this game is some shit isnt very intuitive. like if you enter a game already in progress when you get to the lobby you have to actually exit like you are exiting the lobby completely to go in the game. i found that strange. there was some other shit that i cant remember at the moment.

man I am loving the flamethrower and incendiary grenades, yeah they aren’t as strong, but PRETTY FIRE AND FLAMES!
Thanks for the heads up
Im thinking about picking up this game. How long is the campaign mode?
Doesn’t matter. You’ll be replaying the game constantly. One complete campaign run isn’t enough. I’d say the game is 7 or so hours long from start to finish if you never fail a mission.
