Blockusa was in Super as well. That has nothing to do with her new st.LK-Kara, it’s just a normal cancel. And I disagree on Makoto being cheap now.
If you want to quit because of the twins though, that’s your thing.
yes i really think blockakusa is cheap, not makoto just think they overdid it a bit with the buffs. Dont get me wrong fuki is gr8 and corner rape. She really needed fuki but I THINK they should have nerfed the damage on fuki now when it got alot better. like they did with guile on super they nerfed his damage overall but made better recovery on sonic booms. Anyway thats wut i think they should av done.
The thing is i really dont understand why they “balance” the game and then put 2 OP characters in the game cant understand capcom…
I think Capcom’s buffs were given in response to the community. Everyone who played her played her HARD. We loved her in Super and it was a matter of a few buffs (which she recieved) that probably would’ve made her OP in Super. PURE speculation of course. Guile still would’ve been an issue, but not as much so. The thing is the community, both those who played Makoto, and those who refused to play her all agreed that she did not belong on the bottom. She was too far off of her third strike incarnation. Therefore capcom responded to the community, gave us our buffs, and allow us to avenge all of the losses in super with a great character. I say keep her as is. Hell give her 1050 health, and make HC 6 frame recovery. I say make all Hayates +3 on hit and 0 on block. Fuck it. Buff her to oblivion. It still won’t change that she still will take a lot of skill to get in, and stay in without receiving the butt end of a reversal or throw.
I think she’s perfect. And I don’t really have an issue with the twins. I mean… Maybe I don’t play the best ones. Yeah they’re good, but against Makoto? Really? I need to see some more matches because as time passes, and I play them more, it gets easier and easier to beat them. Once you take dive kick away, what are they going to do? Once you get them with a few HP Oroshis, what do they do? I think that we should just improve our defense. I mean… i dont’ mean to say the twins are not OP… They probably are, but i can’t complain because, honestly, Makoto is OP too. Top 5 characters are OP. And all have at least 1 or 2 bad matchups…
Screw that, we’ve suffered the down period in super, struggled to win vs the top tiers. I’m not going to quit now that she’s better, will definitely enjoy the wins, “cheap” or not
I don’t think AE Makoto is OP. I liken her to SSF4 Abel in many ways, minus the U2 cheese - great mix-ups and great damage off those mix-ups, but she’s not as consistent or safe as the top tiers are.
But yes, Blockakusa and mid-range s.LK xx HC, EX Karakusa (due to the range buff) can be cheap.
lol come on man, you don’t feel guilty sometimes getting almost 500 damage off of 2 bars? lol. I … almost… nope. Fuck em.
Didn’t our favorite troll (Ono) say we might be getting more updates? I get the feeling if they nerf anything of hers, it will be her damage. I really hope they don’t do anything to her though. I still lose a decent amount even with the buffs simply because I can’t make the right read to get in or to keep the pressure on. Do any of the other cast have that kind of limitation?
Personally, I don’t think she’s OP. I just think there are so few of us Mak players (online, and the arcade) that people are completely at a loss (in the west) as to how to deal with her.
I like to think that although she got quite a lot of buffs, it doesn’t really make her any easier to play. She isn’t suddenly easy mode.
close to 500 damage off of 2 bars as a reward for getting the opponent stuck in the corner doesn’t seem like it’s undeserved or op…Evil Ryu can do the same amount of damage without EX bars and it doesn’t matter if it’s in the corner or mid screen, yet he’s not op.
She has the damage out put that I feel she was missing in Super (where I was wondering why I was using her instead of my Abel half the time since Abel could play similar imo, only with a lot higher damage out put which would make Abel the more practical choice…the answer was because I love Makotos character more, for those who were wondering).
Ughhh I cant believe this !!! JUST LOOK AT THIS http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/847/img0149ow.jpg/
… gotcha xD
Ex Dash Punch to fukiage doesnt work on blanka in the corner. Or atleast not for me : (
I hate Blanka. None of the standard stuff ever works on him. You just gotta go in with a blind yelling rage and pulverize the chump!
It does work on him. You just have 1~2 frames to do it, so it is very dificult. Possible though. Hit that gym…
Gotcha
I rage at online play because I feel Makoto is perhaps the least lag-friendly character in the game. 1 frame links and quick reads are necessary to fukiage. Meanwhile all the other characters have their bnb chain combos and easy links.
What are you playing on? I used to have that problem when I played on PSN, and yes, I raged quite a bit. I can stand losing if I was outplayed, but I hate when I lose because of flaws in the connection. To reduce my stress levels, I switched to XBL and as long as I’m playing 4 bars, I hit my 1 frame links and fuki combos no problem. However, making the switch was quite a big investment (AE $40, XBL $60, TE stick $130). I still lose a lot because the quality of players in so much better on XBL, but I’m so much happier.
I play defensively 70% of the time. I constantly buffer poke if the match-up allows it, and I’m constantly looking for that AA, often forgoing poking in favor of f+MP buffering Fukiage.
I can not tell you how many times I’ve gone from what should have been an AA into max damage into mix-up, to eating a full combo into THEIR mix-up because of a few frames of lag.
I have an Xbox and PS3 but I had to leave the Xbox behind when I moved and haven’t been able to get it back…so now it’s just the PSN and the lagtastic fun there.
I feel for you, bro.
got hit by vryu’s post hayate OS.
both the grab and the fukiage.
rage. All of it.
least i still have short swing blow
I’ve gone three nights now without a single win. I’m just baffled as to what to do when people start throwing out lps and lks at close range. I try to throw, I get hit. I try to jump away, I get hit. I try to punish with Makoto’s fastest normals, I get hit. I keep blocking, I either get hit, thrown, or just block forever.
So I’m playing some Hakan online today. He’s not too bad, got me in a few strings. I managed to avoid his U1 attempt and punish hard. I keep going and get him down to a pixel. I move and do a s.mp, going to buffer it into a Hayate for that last pixel of chip…when I get U1’d again out of nowhere and lose. Really Capcom? Really? Two Ultras in one round with zero focusing. Awesome.
Similar situation with an Ibuki later on. Get her down to a pixel, going for that last bit, random Ultra out of nowhere. MASHMASHMASH.
Also, can’t seem to get an EX Kara out sometimes when I NEED it. I eat the jab/short into combo instead. Oh well. I still manage to win most of the time.
