Looking for Love: Ibuki General Discussion Thread

I have made it my business to become the nastiest Dormamu player in the world. Why? Because he’s cool made flesh lol. When he says Floating bomb… Run…Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun" I get that feeling I had the first time I played MVC2. Can’t wait

Im actually getting bored with Ibuki:(?

That’s just because you haven’t been on your ps3 in 31+ days.

EDIT3: That was quite possibly the most eye-opening set of games I’ve had since Ramzi kicked my butt in my own home. Perhaps my Ibuki has a longer road to travel than I expected; thanks again MingoDynasty.

I must:

  1. Use more :f::lk: (buffered into Kazegiri if out of range, or LK Tsumuji if in range).
  2. Learn more safe-jumps.
  3. Never sweep with the Tsumuji during block-stun.
  4. Punish more airborne retaliations from the Kunai with Raida/Kazegiri.
  5. Refrain from backing up into the corner.
  6. Refrain from throwing the Kunai if EX Kazegiri is blocked.
  7. Study options after launchers.
  8. Get an Arcade Stick for PS3, then rematch!

If anything, I was happy that my Yoroitoshi setups still worked; I counted 4 times where it wouldn’t have worked, and 5 where it would have by I just couldn’t execute it. It landed roughly 5-6 times against MingoDynasty outside of confirms, which is the usual average I tend to get (2:1 ratio).

Every time cr.LP, st.MK didn’t link I was disappointed, but difficulties with the FightPad are the least of my issues. What I mostly understood is that my effectiveness in terms of offence is minimal at best. It’s no good being satisfied with an offensive plan that works against those who are not familiar with Ibuki.

Lol, nah I actually play Ibuki daily on xbl or at the arcade. Its just that psn has soooo much lag:(

@Izuna why on earth would you buffer f-lk into kazegiri if you cant hit confirm it? It sounds like a complete waste to me.

Later tonight I might upload a couple of casuals between me, perfect legend, javits, and killa boo. And I might make a character specific match up guide. That is if I don’t get too lazy:p

If I were to catch a normal out of range (so the Kazegiri won’t come out when it would be unsafe) it’d cause a knockdown. Person EX Tsumuji is another option, especially if near a corner.

I think you would be better off doing f-lk into mk tsumuji. If they whiff a move you get a free ch combo, if they block you’re at frame advantage. It might not be a true block string but its safe and you get to conserve your meter at the same time. Or you could go into a block string or something.

Bare in mind I haven’t tested this, but I’m sure MK Tsumuji after f+lk can be interrupted with a Reversal Ultra/DP. Also, it’d only combo from a counter hit, so if they walk forward (to throw or something) it won’t combo.

Yeah well I kinda said that it wasn’t a true block string in my last post. But if you have people mashing after a f-lk you must be going against some serious scrubs…lol. Btw f-lk into cr lk is a counter hit setup if anybody like to mash potatoes;)

You don’t have to be a scrub to find a way to abuse this. Just walk up and purposely take the f+LK hit and then mash a reversal.

If anyone wants a new Ibuki Stick Art: Check it out here, and if you like it PM me, I’ll send you an image without the backdrop.

f+lk xx mk tsumuji sounds like a wicked CH setup I should mix that up with lk tsumuji.

Learnt that the hard way; I’d rather drop the f+lk rather than take the risk with something that doesn’t even combo.

Ok. youre right, im an idiot, good bye

No, that’s not what I meant!

F-lk into kazegiri is bad because you cant hit confirm it and if its blocked you just wasted 2 bars for absolutely nothing. And when you play against better players meter management Becomes very important. Now I could understand a player mashing after 2 cr. Jabs or after an overhead to test our links but after f-lk I just dont see it happening.

f+LK is meant to stuff your opponent’s low attacks anyways, like cr.MK. You shouldn’t be using it as a poke except for this, and if they’re walking forward, use cr.MP/st.MK xx tsumuji instead. And how often will your opponent have the time to walk up and block anyways? If your opponent has a fast walk speed and keeps walking up and blocking, then yeah, maybe you shouldn’t use f+LK. Going by your logic, cr.MP xx neckbreaker is also bad just because you can’t hit confirm it and if it’s blocked, you get punished.

Editing my post instead of double posting:

Playing my Ibuki vs jrock’s Ryu has made me realize how exactly I deal with fireballs. I either FA backdash if mid screen (and then wait to regen. if he throws another fireball i do neutral jump with/without kunai), or slide if I’m close enough (this way the slide may whiff, but Ryu is still recovering from the fireball). And if my execution wasn’t so bad, maybe I’d use TK kunai more.

That being side, once I get meter, I basically buffer EX neckbreaker all the time.

^ Good to know.

Yeah so I tried playing on my new sanwa certified SE stick, and I can’t even do Ibuki’s bnb cr.LP cr.LP st.LP st.MK xx special. Heck I can’t even do qcf half the time.

What do you guys recommend as a training regimen for execution?

same way you learned to execute on the pad… do each of her specials 10 times in a row on each side. then your basic cancels 10 times in a row on each side. its just drilling muscle memory bro.

Good shit to Clakey D for repping Ibuki in LevelUp’s AE tourney.

2-1 vs Alex Valle (Guy)
2-0? vs AndyOCR (M. Bipson)

But then picking E. Honda vs Gooteck’s Rose?
