hey guys, just a quick question, is it possible to anti air with yoroitoshi?? like when they jump at you on wakeup?
Depends on how late they jump/where they jump. You should be able to hit them out of any back jumps, or late neutral ones. If they jump over you there’s nothing you can do about it.
Have a look: sbg32pBpsOU&hd=1]YouTube - [Super Street Fighter IV
It rarely works, but if you spot people getting used to jumping like that it will work… hmm
mmmm ok so, if they try to safe jump me, U1 should catch them? since is like 2 frames?
Yeah wake up grab U1 beats safe jumps. Though u have to be careful because if the opponent is smart they’ll purposely safe jump you outside of the range of the grab and stuff out the slow start up of the fireball U1.
I’ve just recently picked up Ibuki again for fun and I was wondering…
Why do most Ibuki’s I see (Acqua, Momochi, Iyo, etc.) do instant kunai after landing a fthrow against Ryu (or any character with DP reversal)? I know it’s possible to make the kunai cross up after a fthrow (I use it against characters like Abel) but against shotos, I usually get beat clean by a DP. Is it a mistake on my part that I’m getting hit by the DP? Or is there another reason? And is that generally the best option after a fthrow? It’s just something I need clarification about since I see that tactic used often.
Thanks in advance.
U must cross them up with the kunai to not get DP’d. If you get DP’d it means u landed in front of Ryu and didn’t cross him up.
QFT, though I did play a Ryu who purposely did a DP so that he was airborne, 'cause he thought it was worth getting one throw eventually rather than blocking… o__O
Am I the only one that has got auto corrected dp’d DJ???
no, it happens all the time. I think it has to do with that DJ gets up slower than the rest of the cast, by 2 frames I think
The one thing I hate about playing DJ’s…
Lol meant devil jin.
for no particular reason other than few people post her anymore… the ibuki forums are DEAD. what happened to sanford saying that ibuki was the best character in the game? what happened to ibuki being better than viper? the ibuki forums have been rather stagnant for awhile now. awww, geez this sucks…

We just need to wait until a pro wins a tournament using her, OR train so hard that we’ll be able to proof how awesome she is by winning major tournaments…
sigh… It’s nice to dream…
I see…
It’s happened to me as well actually. In training mode, I got the kunai to hit deep/cross up on record but when I put Ibuki to playback, as Ryu, I managed to auto correct DP on my wake up every time.
I only messed around with it for a little bit though… I’m going to hit the lab and try it out again to understand what I’m doing wrong/how it works. If I find anything interesting, I’ll post it up (though I doubt I’d find anything you guys don’t already know lol).
Yeah… she’s not exactly a popular character due to her steep learning curve and mediocre tier rankings… =\
I’ve been browsing this forum for the past month or so. I came to gain knowledge, but I have nothing to really contribute. Sorry :\
I hate the fact that these boards aren’t too active. I think it’s cos a lot of Ibuki players here are new ones and don’t have too much to contribute as we are still learning the game, and I personally feel anything I say shouldn’t be taken seriously as I’m a scrub, otherwise I’d do write ups and post vids here, but I have nothing special to show. I still feel Ibuki is a really good character when up close, it’s just getting up close can be hard in some match ups - and even when you get up close you have to play a mediocre game because they can easily get around half the shit Ibuki has. I feel if Ibuki just had a faster walk speed and a reliant poke such as Ryu cr.mk Ibuki would be really beast, I’m thinking cr.mp less startup would be good for us as it’s quite a hard move to whiff punish already. I wish LK CD had less recovery as well, cos it done in a block string is fairly easy to get around. Does anyone know what frame advantage we are at if we do tc4 xx lk cd in a block string? If I remember correctly it’s -2, I wish that -2 was 0. But maybe then she’d be broken lol. I’m just dying to hear her AE changes…
Honestly, I think it’s because Ibuki is largely style based. I have tons of shenanigans/gimmicks/mixups, but i’ve realized that alot of those things I have to keep to myself, because when it comes down to it…that’s what edges out wins at high levels. That being, using what your opponent doesn’t know or hasn’t seen and exploiting that. You might see her break top 4 soon in placement…but she’ll never be top tier or consitantly placing high in her current state…because nothing about her is consistant.
Sad part about it is that she has the tools…she just doesn’t have the health to make any type of errors in judgement offensely or defensely. All around you have to be the smarter/ more solid player to win…and people don’t like to work for their wins. I mean look at the video section. What equates to being a good ibuki is how lucky you were in your vortex and if you caught it on film. Nobody talks about the fundamentals like move placement, spacing, frame traps, mind games that kinda of stuff. Well let me take that back…people admire it when they see it but don’t add too much to the discussion. I’m not saying that’s because people don’t want to talk about this stuff…its just hard to discuss certain concepts with any amount of depth on a forum. There are so many things to consider when playing this character (hitboxes, glitches,OS, ability to execute or lack thereof, shortcut errors, monitor/online lag, meter management, ect.) that take away from being able to just focus on playing SF. At the end of the day though I think winning consistantly with Ibuki is all about knowledge and your ability to consolidate/avoid unfavorable variables. Not a good tourney character imo…at least not in a 2 out of 3 format.
Anyways, heh…after AE drops I think this boards gonna get flooded lol. Falling straight down after jump back kunai is HUGE. She’ll actually be able to zone now and setup some nice CH’s without backing herself in the corner. Im glad shes not placing so she doesnt get beaten within an inch of her life with the nerf bat when arcade edition drops hah.
I completely agree with you Tempest. I think I am playing Ibuki totally wrong, I’m playing her more of a “Solid” way (I’m not a very solid player, but you get what I mean I hope). Like if I go for a mix up, i’d rather it be safe - but making a mix up safe is quite obvious. I think I need to go for some more risky things.
I have things I keep to myself, that always work against new players. However, these are things I don’t want people to get used to, so I don’t use them often or show them. Jordunable, playing safe is great. Try to learn how to play as solid as possible, and take your really strange stuff to the matches that matter.
this is also my EXACT problem. couldnt have worded it better myself.
also tc4 xx lk cd is -6 or 7 on block. its -2 on hit.
i agree with motempest… his ibuki has crazy shenanigans, the only problem is that i really dont like to play a shenanigans BASED character… lots of gimmicks are good, and i appreciate them, but i like solidity more, cause solidity is what pulls in consistent wins game after game. i never thought ibuki would be based off of gimmicks, if i had i wouldnt have bothered with her… i thought she would be solid coinflipping mixups… lol, jokes on me i guess.
