oh man devil i agree ken is such a bigger pain than any other shotos imo
The Ken matchup is deffinetly lame if only cause he is a shoto, but momochi is one of the best players in japan and probably the best Ken. I don’t this match is any reason to think the matchup is terrible
3 days ago I moved the health bar up and out of view in the options menu, and now I’m winning so many more games that I would have thrown away before due to getting flustered by my worringly depleted health bar. Obviously this is of no use to tournament players, but I’m hoping it will teach me to stop worrying about my health bar. Just thought I’d share something that has really helped me.
I got an idea. Would you guys like to do a weekly training session on xbl. Where we can exchange thoughts and practice on offensive pressure, defense, zoning, footsies, os’s, mixups, and matchups? If you guys are interested I will host it every sunday and maybe even stream it eventually. Hopefully we can exchange ideas and help our character grow and become more competitive in tournaments. I will make a new thread for this if there’s enough interest.
I would be interested but my xbl connection is terrible for some reason
i would def be down for what Niko is talkin about because im tired of not advancing my ibuki
i only have ps3, but i would like to join u guys tonight if u guys don’t mind
Shout outs to ClakeyD in top 8 of SCR. Finals tomorrow.
I was surprised to see his name for top 8
Because I don’t.think I’ve ever heard of him.
Does he post in here?
Dj did you get to see any of his matches?
I’m curious about his playstyle
There was some old vids of Clakey from a while back but it was before he was really doing anything big in the tourney scene. I guess he’s leveled up a good bit to do that well. Like most top Ibuki players he doesn’t really post. The only high level tournament going Ibuki that posts here much at all is Motempest.
There’s already recorded footage of him playing against Daigo in the tourney.
SCR Day 1 3pm to 5pm, SCR Day 1 3pm to 5pm leveluplive on USTREAM. Gaming Entertainment (1 hour 30 min in)
Top players troll SRK, yes im talking to you Clark.
ARGH! so painful in his final round, after the EX kazagiri it looked like a kunai probably would’ve beaten Daigo.
I think if he had SJC’d to U2 when he had the opportunities the extra life lead would’ve helped his mentality.
Still though, Daigo is Daigo.
Excited to see Ibuki take on Top 8.
Can’t believe Sako didn’t make Top 8, his Rose was scary and his Cammy was freakin’ godlike. Fair play to JWong for taking him out.
Mad props to ClakeyD, can’t wait to see how he does in top 8. Best of luck to him and Mike Ross… oh wait.
he did mad good against tokido, good shit on him, even won a set
Yeah, I don’t really know his backround much but it doesn’t look like he has a lot of tourney xp so it looks like nerves caught up to him. But still did amazing non the less. More tourney xp and this guy could be pretty big.
Tokido was taking mad advantage of Ibuki’s lack of ability to seriously punish teleports out of kunais and low to the ground air fireballs. It was sad watching Clakey just have to watch Akuma do super low backwards jump air fireballs. Ibuki can’t punish those at all because of the quick recovery.
how did motempest and buktooth do? wasnt able to watch the stream.

Did Clakey use anything we haven’t highlighted before, or did he just ride solid fundamentals and play his match-ups right?
from what i saw it was just solid fundamentals… he had a good neutral game mixup and good zoning, i only saw the tokido match but tokido wasnt able to do whatever he wanted at all. tokido had to play a big neutral game with the obvious wiffed demonflips and jumpback fake fireballs… something tells me that tokido only plays like that if he has respect for his opponents skill.
in that match claky used alot of jumpback nothing as well as wiff buffered cr.mp (even though he forgot to actually buffer it a couple of times) he got a really good read on a jumpback fireball from tokido and was able to dash under it for a punish. he got desperate and threw out a guess u2 against a fake jumpback air fireball that got blocked. but the 2 most impressive things to me were his ability to disguise his get in attempts as well as his ability to AA from unusual spots/timings… both things i personally have alot of trouble with. but, as far as an instructional style like buks… naw claky pretty much seemed based on good reads and reactions rather than original play, but this was deep in the tournament so not much new shit gets used at that point, mofos just want to win.
one thing he did that was kinda original for an ibuki player was to use lvl2 focus as a re-offense… but i blame that more on ibukis shortcomings than new strats… most characters in the game can use focus’ as a re-offense, most just dont need it cause they have better options, in general.
my completely unscientific .02
