We were so angry at first because of the way he played, but then we realized he was just starting the party.
Still screw that guy lol.
Real talk, the room was the loudest and most hype for that match, ahaha.

The commentator mixed up the names around and which ibuki was which. (I’m the purple ibuki.) We both messed up alot during the matches so bare with that… ><
Good job vs WhiteGun. Should use U1 for Yun matchup though.
I know, but I had to stick with what I was comfortable in that moment. U1 is the recommended choice, but I did my best.
What a blast though. This was much much more exciting and new experiences. I’ve never met so many players in my life in person this many times.
I have so much stories to tell haha. I also want to thank orikasa and kpop for making the trip so much more awesome. I really appreciate you guys.
So in summary of my journey, I entered pre-canada cup and went 2-2. I did an exhabition match with sherryjenix, got bopped 4-1. I lost to a really good rufus player and one sakura player. On friday I did a ton of casuals. Lots of good players like the dudley player (chaotix), cant remember the rest, (sorry-) but it was good.
Then main event came, got 2-2. I had to fight orikasa in my pool which sucked I fought jaycetheace only winning 1 round -he picked cammy.
I lost to an ehonda player but I managed to figure out his tactic and build around it at the salty suite.
Then crazy after party. We were basically all drunk and I fought xiao hai’s ibuki and chi rithys ibuki. Its the minds behind them that make their characters so good.
I got some encouragment from all players alike, pr rog and fchamp themselves.
GGs !
Too bad you lost to Sherry. She has a lot of trouble with Ibuki I always go 2 - 0 against her lol.
Keep it up! Someone had to rep Ibuki out there!
I did my best to finally send mine somewhere out of the pools, but not good enough yet Mingo needs to stahp choking in tournament and kick asses.
As for me, I’ll be back in France, struggling to get my Ibuki noticed next the the three monsters Fasoll, Saunic and F-Word. Tough times
Haha!! Yeah, good showing RC, Kpop, and Orikasa! CC looked fun as hell, and that afterparty? Damn brooooo.
Seems you’re coming up in the scene nicely, Red. Gootecks and PR Rog complimenting your potential during Drunk Fighter 4.
Man when I played Fchamp he gave me the WTF face and shook his head of how free I was on the Sim matchup :(. Hope I can make it to NCR2014. Going to work my way to be the best Ibuki in Norcal. 2nd or 3rd best isn’t enough.
Tokido randomly came up to me when I was talking to RedCaliburn after the CC 5v5, and he was like, “you’re… Orikasa Ibuki.” I was like WTF. That was cool. He proceeded to ask why my handle was a Japanese name like Orikasa, haha.
I must say, when I went up against Mago this time around, I’ve never had so much fun playing AE before. I really enjoyed playing dem mind games and seeing if the both of us were noticing each others’ habits or if we were faking that we had bad habits. The subtle amount of disrepect (in-game) we gave each other was super fun too.
Damn. Screw it, I’m going to find a way to level up in Japan sometime.
You can level up a lot in Japan for sure. That’s how the best Ibuki in Norcal got so good and got Grandmaster on Japanese arcade. He didn’t play with big names, just fellow Grandmasters and the competition is already pretty challenging. So I guess it shouldn’t matter where in Japan lol.
2-0 as in you lost in that match? Or she did?
Well the more you play and study, the better your game plan you will get. I get bodied by all the good players but I go all out to play more often and pay very close attention to what they do as many times as I could. So its a good idea to study their options and match up so you have an easier time with them.
Im not even close to being out of pools, but since its my second major with challenging people, (at my level) compared to my local scene, all I could do was play alot. Its good that your level is up there, you may get at other ibuki players level too.
I know, that after party was insane. Mago and lapchi getting their names on blast out there to drink. I wasent around the commentary, but thats good to hear. I only played pr rog for 5 sets for fun and the mind games omg, it was great. Im really surprised with my performence, because I thought I wasent really good at all. I hope they’re telling the truth :s
As along as you are trying your best and you’re showing improvement, they may eventually change their minds. Keep at it though, your Ibuki isn’t that bad. If you need some help with certain match-ups, study it. Or even ask Ibuki players that are better then you, or even watch how sako deals with the match-up and write a couple notes down.
When I got bopped against sherry, I thought I wasn’t very good. Everyone was watching lol. As long as you continue to show improvement and work hard there is nothing to be frowned upon. Keep on going, you can do it.
man…i didn’t think to check if some of the ppl here would have been going to canada cup. i need to use this forum more. >_> after playing on pc for the last month i had a hard time getting used to xbox…i felt like an idiot for not taking that into consideration.
went 2-2 at canada cup. both losses were to gen players. i believe my match against street11 was streamed. after the first round he basically told me he didn’t want to play the ground game against me and made it a goal to push me into the corner to unblockable me to death -.-
overall though it was alot of fun hanging out with everyone. always good to see orikasa and it was a pleasure to meet red caliburn. solid ibuki with very little bad habits that i could see. even pr rog was impressed with her at the salty suites and sat down and played a long set with her. that was great to see =)
but omg instant party…
Orikasa shared me this, I thought it be funny to share.
pool play is up on the canadacup youtube channel
RedCaliburn v. Jayce the Ace
RedCaliburn v. Carlos
me v. Street11
couldn’t find any pool matches of orikasa. might be up later from the recorded side setups
No pool matches of me. The only match I was on stream for was vs Mago and vs Lapchi on the 5v5, and me getting bodied in TTT2.
Here we go:
Dropped too many things in that match, and I didn’t play aggressive enough. Didn’t help that that was my first match of the day lol.
do most of you guys play on xbox or ps3? would it still be reasonable to buy an xbox at this stage of the game? (with new consoles coming out and what not…would there be an sf4 port for them maybe?)
Doubt Capcom will make a port for next gen consoles. I don’t think it’s worth getting a new console for any games considering next gen console will come out in about a month. If you have a decent PC, get the PC version. Or play offline at a local arcade/gatherings.
Least lag, PC.
Most / best players, Xbox360.
Most lag and gimmick players, ps3.
i have it on pc and that’s what i had been playing on for a while, but it feels like there’s such less input delay. When i went to play on xboxes at canada cup i had a really hard time adjusting. D: so i’ve been playing on ps3 for now…
That’s supposed to be a good thing lol. That’s why I say go to an offline gathering where they will usually use console setups. It takes a while, but you won’t really feel much of a difference when you play on different systems enough and will have easier time adjusting to the timings.
