Any tips on the Ibuki vs Viper Matchup? My vortex seems to be beaten by wake up Thunder Knuckle.

we don’t have much of an arcade scene here in seattle anymore. we do have tournaments every week alternating between Gameclucks in lynnwood (north of seattle) and Gamebreakerz in auburn (south of seattle). might wanna join the northwest street fighter group on facebook if you want to keep tabs on what’s going on

currently, our scene for ae is the strongest it’s been in a very long time. we’re all pretty chill and pretty welcoming as a whole. home sessions are a pretty big thing around here, with about 4 main places you can go for games, mine being one of them, and the much hated buktooth being another.
if you’re into anime games, we have hands down the strongest group of anime players. two evo champs being local. they’re also a quirky bunch.
i don’t really keep track of marvel but we have a handful of decent players. the marvel scene in general seems to be at a lull, but a group of them recently got a house together and are opening up for marvel sessions kinda like what fgtv does.
as long as you keep coming out to events and introduce yourself, you’ll be just fine.
So yesterday as I was watching the pre-Canada Cup tournament, I saw a girl Ibuki player from Canada. I am 99.99999% sure that it was RedCaliburn (unless there is another Canadian Ibuki girl player kicking that many asses around), but she entered as Camilla.
In any cases, shoutouts to your match against White Gun lol.
(also every time I hear a commentator say “best Ibuki” and “White Gun” in the same sentence, my heart is broken)

It was seriously a killer since the skill level was so dramatically different than what I play locally all the time. gg’s to sherry too, I need more assistance against burn kicks and ex seismo. I saw the top results at Eventhubs. Xiao Hai has a pocket Ibuki?
I was actually surprised to see that. I was watching him using ibuki and did surprisingly well. No crazy set ups, but it was good enough for top play.
Curious why he pick Ibuki for Rog matchup. Cammy would do better I think. Is unblockable really effective against Rog? When done correctly, would his reversals whiff and you can os nb to punish? I kept getting my jumpins absorbed by armor whenever I do it. Maybe I just suck at doing unblockables. I think his Ibuki is pretty basic (new to the character) from what I’ve seen on PR Rog match. Saw a lot of hit confirms to Tsumuji rather than neckbreaker. And St.mp, st.mk rather than at least 2 st.mp, st.mk xx nb. I figure a top player shouldn’t have trouble with that link.
I know s.mp s.mp whiffs on crouching characters. Other than that, it was him being new to Ibuki.
PR Rog says Cammy vs Balrog is 5-5. I feel that Balrog can give Cammy a tough time, until she knocks him down. Xiao Hai probably felt more comfortable with Ibuki vs Balrog.
If Balrog wakes up EX armor’s whatever through your jump-in, that’s considered good because you do manage to make him waste EX meter. Or if you know the Balrog player will wake up with that for sure, empty jump -> dash up throw.
Canada Cup so far is pretty fun. Seeing Kpop, meeting RedCaliburn and discussing strats/hanging out was cool.
I think I was the only player on my team to get a round off Mago. I dropped some pretty crucial combos, but I think I did alright. Until he downloaded me, of course. I was practicing mainly Chun for this event, but decided to bust out Ibuki.
I need to work on the Ibuki vs Blanka match-up. I got bodied by Lap Chi. I beat L2P’s Blanka in tourney before, so… I guess I’m just really rusty on that MU.

Ibuki vs Balrog is considered a bad matchup. The bad thing about getting jumpin absorbed is it resets the situation, and ground game with Balrog is already hard. I usually do HK dash to kill charge and low meaty. Never thought about empty jump dash up throw to punish EX dash punches. I’ll give that a try. Good luck at Canada Cup!
