Long Island Fight Club

Cool. :wgrin: By the way, the food table area… that’s where I’d set-up the TVs for console sessions/tourneys since they don’t serve food anymore.

Did you check out the all-on-one machine to see what 2D fighters are on it?

Anyways… if we really try, this could become another good spot for CvS2 and MvC2 comp.

im not from li, but id just like to say good shit ongetting stuff organized out there Cla, keep it up

Next time you come to CF, check out ArcanaHeart, that’s all i’ve been playing lately, shit is digital crack. lol.

LOL am I one of the random players you know? :X

Chris - yea i’ve been busy lately and havent swung by the DR sessions, are they still around? I’m def down for 3S and GGS though. i havent touches GGS since last summer though so I’m hella rusty, but as for 3S, thats all i’ve been playing. As for other 3S players, for some reason its been getting picked up by a few players now. I know atleast like 5-6 people that i play with down at the anime club. Danny has a few friends that play as well. Definately get in touch with me if you want to get 3S going. Too bad you werent at I-Con, the 3S matches were pretty nuts. Glenn was there, there was a ctf player that had a good Yun. Pretty good matches to watch, i had fun.

Just trying my best to keep a deserving scene alive. Nothing’s gotten really underway yet… but soon enough.

I’ve seen some pics and read a little about it. I’m definitely interested. I don’t know the next time I’ll be at CTF though. I’m gearing up for Evo East so I don’t see myself spending money for the trip to CTF soon. Perhaps I can hitch a ride with Spero or the other regular LIers.

Anyways… Let me know if you hear of any console release for this game. (foreign release or not doesn’t matter) I’m hoping for a PS3 version…

Hey, you think you can convince the owner of CTF to trade in the Virtua Fighter 4 machine for Virtua Fighter 4: Final Tuned or even possibly Virtua Fighter 5?

Here are two places he could buy Final Tuned:

coinopexpress.com - Virtua Fighter 4: Final Tuned Kit
VirtuaFighter.com - FULL VFFT KIT SALE!

Ok, people… registration and info (including hotel) for Evo East is up:

http://www.evo2k.com/east/

So, sign-up. If anyone wants to share a room and/or provide/ask for a ride, start planning things now.

sum1 should hold a li 3s tourny there was one in gamestop at bayshore mall like in oct maybe if sum1 talks to them thell do it again

I’m willing to add 3s console tourneys to my Castle Golf tourneys roster. (Still don’t know when these will get started though.)

There actually was a 3s tourney organized on this site that happened either earlier this month or it was last month.

By the way, you have VF5, right? Come join the VF Long Island thread and tell all the other Long Island VF players to join in too.

Hey everyone: If you didn’t notice, there’s a Frappr for SRK. Everyone should add theirself. You’ll see me next to Centereach.

So now they revive this thread and start playing other games besides MvC2. Where the hell were these fools when we were on LI Ren?

I got called into Castle Golf today…

The Capcom Vs SNK 2 machine is crap. It costs 4 tokens to play and the 1P side is useless. (I mentioned it to Lance. Don’t know if he will actually do anything) Also, the left speaker is broken and that’s annoying because you will not hear the audio if the char is all the way on the left side of the screen.

I did not try the KI machine, but it seems to be in good shape. Don’t know about the MvC2 machine either.

The all-in-one machine is pretty good. Lots of classics. For SF, there is: SF1, SF2, SF2:Championship, and SF2:Turbo. I also noticed Fatal Fury 3. And although it’s not a fighter, Magical Drop 2 makes me happy. (would rather Magical Drop 3, of course)

Now, the area where I want to set-up the consoles… It’s freakin’ awesome. Tons of seating. You’ll love it.

Currently, I do not plan to run the daily sessions and weekly tourneys because there does not seem to be enough interest.

However, I do plan to run at least a monthly tourney for VF5 and DR. (both on the same day) I may do this every 2 weeks actually. For the other 2 weeks of the month, perhaps I can run console tourneys for 2D fighters.

Yes, that would be an idea.

1st and 3rd week is reserved for 2D fighters and possibly a DOA4 tourney. (when I get my 360) 2nd and 4th week is for VF5 and DR.

How many of you would be interested in attending these 2D tourneys? I’m gonna need some help with consoles and TVs, by the way.

We’ll have to figure out what games we want. Well, here’s what I’ll put up for voting (feel free to suggest more):

Capcom Vs SNK 2 on PS2 (I have this)
Street Fighter III: Third Stirke via 15th Anniversary (I have the Xbox version)
Marvel Vs Capcom 2 (what system? Evo uses Dreamcast which is arcade-perfect. But I don’t have a Dreamcast. The arcade machine?)
Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold via Alpha Anthology on PS2 (I have this)
Street Fighter Alpha 3 Arranged via Alpha Anthology on PS2 (I have this. [But only 1 copy, of course])

Also, I do not have a fully-working PS2. Mine gets “Disc Read Error” for the DVD (silver-bottom) PS2 discs. MvC2 works, but the PS2 version might not be ideal. I have only 1 TV to bring.

If you want all the games, that’s cool as long as a good amount of people actually enter in them. (at least 8. Absolute minimum is 4)

After all tourneys, I hope to leave the stations up for casuals. We stay open till midnight usually.

I know there would be a nice group of at least 8 or so that would be interested in the 3S tourneys just from stony brook campus alone. Not sure about cvs2 and mvc2 though. As for 3S on xbox, i heard and actually seen first hand of a lot of converter issues with it. Prob best to use either the Dreamcast one or the ps2 one, but from what i heard, the ps2 one isnt arcade perfect and plays at a different speed.

Well, I have 2 dreamcasts just sitting in boxes. Both work perfect and one is modded to play copies and japanese games. I dont have any arcade controllers for the DC though. I also have an an extra TV just sitting here in the basement with nothing going on with it. I dont know what games I have exactly, I know I have a unmber of capcom fighters, but I dont know which one. Seriously, I have like 10 BIG boxes of video game crap. I’ll dig in and let you know what exactly I have.

i have 1 DC to PS/2 converter and a stick, just need to either get a green goblin or another person with a DC to ps/2 converter.

oh yea, if anyone is interested. I’m holding a 3S session tomorrow, Wed 4/4/07, in the SAC basement in the commuter lounge on Stony Brook Campus. All is welcomed.

Very cool, Adam/urth. Whatever you are willing to bring in, we can agree on some compensation.

Ok, so far… 3S is a definite. Now to figure out what other games to bring based on how many TVs we can get a hold of. (So far, my TV and Adam’s)

I’ll also need to know what day of the week and time would be best.

I have 2 convertors for PS controllers that work very well as long as you don’t use a controller with pressure-sensitive buttons. (like the PS2’s Dualshock 2)

I use PS1 Dualshock controllers and they work perfect. A PS1/2 arcade stick should also work.

Either I’ll be working or hanging out with Spero, so I’ll miss this one.

cla u shouldnt worry about tekken tournys u should leave that to spero but about 3s and vf sound great ill def show to those and if its 3s i can bring friends

btw friend wants to hold tourny at his house prob 3s i think would any1 be intrested?

I’d be interested, and i’d prob know a few more that would come also.

i was wondering about this place called paralax…i hear its a place where you can bring your stuff and play games with ppl and stuff…it would be nice for someone to hold a tourney for 3s there…its somewhere in i think westbury…near roosevelt feild mall…the place and address should be in the nyc console players thread here… http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=3134488&postcount=7 …i would be interested in some competition in 3s if ppl are up for it

I heard about it too… I overhead some people that play SSBM go there and play… Dont see why people love that game so much, seems hella cheesy and boring to me.

Good news regarding Castle Golf:

The Capcom Vs SNK 2 machine is fixed. Both sides work beautifully and it now takes only 2 tokens to play. Tourneys on the arcade version are go if people want to play on it.

I played the Marvel Vs Capcom 2 machine and 1P side worked fine. Don’t know about 2P side, but how often is 2P side more-damaged than 1P side?

For the Killer Instinct fans: One of the employees is really good. His name is Tom. He runs the go-karts with me and some others. So, look for him if you want a good match.

The Tekken 4 machine is in good shape as well. (again, only tested 1P side)

The all-on-one machine (Ultrarcade) has some problems. Some of the buttons stick on 1P side. Mainly HP and HK. (did not test 2P side) So it’s not good for SF. But I found that it does have Magical Drop 3, which makes me very very very very very very happy. :lovin:

I still have not got to talk Lance about the tourneys. He was not in today. Oh well, eventually. I still would like some more info anyways. What other 2D games do you guys want? Who’s willing to bring TVs/consoles? What day of the week would be best?

By the way… When they re-opened, they added a rule that says we’re not suppose to play stuff while on-the-clock. But the off-the-clock, we can do whatever and grab all the free tokens we want. My shift is typically 12-6. I’ll tell you what days I’ll be there, and then you come at 6 (I usually stay around and play some games for a little bit) and we’ll play some stuff. I can put in tokens for us both (well, secretly I mean) but I don’t want to abuse that too much because then the lack of profit will mean less hours for me and others.

A VF tourney on its own isn’t going to bring enough people when it comes to Long Island. My approach is different from Spero’s. I’ll have both DR and VF tourneys on the same day. Also, it does not seem Spero will be running a tourney this month.

I’m trying to start up guarenteed monthly tourneys. Also, I’ve been trying to convince Spero to run his next tourney at Castle Golf. (I would honestly rather have him run it. But if it’s not going to run the DR tourneys at Castle Golf, then I will.)

If Spero still wants to run tourneys at FYE, my tourneys will not conflict with his. If he has his at the end of the month like usual, then mine will be in the middle of the month.

By the way… Come chat on the Long Island VF thread, and convince every Long Island VF player you know to do so as well. There’s literally no activity going on despite the fact that Russ, Carlos, and Joe are still regularly playing the game.

In a random note: I’m jammin’ to the VF5 soundtrack right now.

3s is definitely on the roster. But I won’t have that tourney on the same day at the DR+VF tourneys.

Basically… I want for one day to be the 2D games, and another day will be for the VF and DR tourneys.

You ever hold a tourney before Cla? Cuz if ya haven’t, it might be better to just hold one game first and then see if you can handle it or not. Holding tournies for regulars is easy, but when there are 20+ new faces with weird excuses, it becomes more of a headache.
