i most likely dont know who this is (i think) but either way no one should be through something like that…wishing a well recovery from a fellow player
Andrew? You mean Japan Andrew came back? I see a bunch of new names on those lists too, like Alex and Lloyd.
Haha nah that’s my cousin Andrew, but by the way he was playing during the tourney you would think he’s Japan Drew :wow:. Don’t think anyone heard from Drew for the past 2 years… dude’s been MIA.
Daily sessions and weekly tourneys
Don’t know the dude, but get well soon man.
Ok everyone, listen up. I have an idea and I’m curious of your response.
Castle Golf
1878 Middle Country Rd
Centereach, NY 11720
(631) 471-1267
Open from 10 or 11AM till 10PM or midnight. (depending on how active things get. Lack of activity between 9 and 10PM results in early closing.)
This is where I work. (well, when they re-open in April. Hopefully sooner since the weather’s all nice) Anyways, I want to set up daily sessions and weekly tourneys for various games in the arcade.Arcade machines: Marvel Vs Capcom 2, Capcom Vs SNK 2, Tekken 4, Killer Instinct, and misc old SF games on one of those all-on-one machines. Because these are arcade machines, you can play sessions whenever. I will do weekly tourneys in which ever ones will have a good turn out. Generate buzz and get back to me on which ones you all would be interested in.
On PS3: Virtua Fighter 5 and Tekken: Dark Resurrection. I don’t have a PS3 yet, so I will have to borrow someone else’s till then. When I do I have one, it will be definite daily sessions and weekly tourneys for both games. For sessions when there is only 1 PS3 available, I will alternate between VF5 and DR upon request.
On 360: Dead Or Alive 4. I don’t have 360 either. When I do get one, it will be definite daily sessions. Weekly tourneys will depend on if there’s enough interest.
On PS2/Xbox: Anything. Soul Calibur 2 & 3, the MvC2 and CvS2 for those who prefer pad over stick, 3rd Strike, Alpha Anthology, the Mortal Kombats, whatever pepole want to bring. (even PS1 games) Session will be non-planned, just whatever games people feel like playing at any moment. Weekly tourneys will come down to whatever generates enough interest. I will gladly do MvC2 and CvS2 on PS2 and Arcade or PS2-only if people prefer that.
Misc: Whatever system and games someone wants to bring, (Dreamcast? Saturn? GameCube?) go for it.I currently have only 1 TV to bring, and the PS3 will get priority on it for sessions. If I can’t get a hold of other TVs, then I’ll have to alternate the other systems onto the one TV when no one is playing the PS3. For tourneys, if I can’t get a TV for other systems, then tourneys on the other systems will have to be scheduled to take place after the PS3 tourneys.
By the way, the sessions would have to generate money for the place so the consoles would be treated like an arcade machine. I think 25/a token per play will do. Winner may stay on for no cost.
For all sessions/tourneys, people who bring a system or TV will of course recieve a cut of the profit for the games played on that particular piece of equipment.
Of course, this is all very ambitious and still in the early drawing board stages, but it is something to think about nevertheless.
Feel free to suggest and comment away to make this actually work. How often do you all think you’d come to these sessions and tourneys?
Keep in touch with the other Long Island people to see what’s happening regarding this idea:**Long Island thread on Zaibatsu
Long Island thread on VFDC**Both links go straight to my post about this idea.
Hey I just joined the site and would be willing to play some games . I’m a bit rusty but I could get my swagger back after some practice, I live right in Sayville if you know where that is… Castle Golf is just west of Nicolls road? When are there going to be gatherings there?
Hey man, you’re not too far from me.
You’re right next to South Shore Mall, so be sure to come to this tourney on the 25th.
Yes, Castle Golf is just west of Nicolls RD once you get on Middle Country RD.
Nothing is official about the Castle Golf gatherings. The place isn’t even open yet. (planned for re-opening in April) Just trying to see how many people would actually come. Of course, since I’ll be working there, I’ll be available for a game anytime.
Which reminds me… as far as 2D fighters go, I’ve been trying to get back into CvS2. My current team is Mai, Akuma, and Yuri on A-Groove. Although I just noticed that Evo has this game being played on Ratio. So as I figure out how I want to spread the points, my team may change.
LOL, nice…people start playing again after i leave, that’s just awesome
damn if only it was closer…i would go but its pretty DAMN far lol from new hyde park
Hopefully you can make it at least 1 day a month or something.
Oy people, let me give you something I call “Why you should play Virtua Fighter 5”:

Tons of hi-quality vids. Don’t mind the Japanese commentator. It can be toggled on and off and of course the US version has an Englush commentator. But the Japanese commentator is awesome with all his screaming madness!
hey! i know you! You’re on the ultimatemk boards heh.
Cla convince Castle Golf to get a Ultimate MK3 machine :X
The castle golf thing seems like a good idea, im down if it ever happens. Need to revive the scene on the island, need more comp!
If you know where to buy a UMK3 machine, let me know. (more importantly, let me know the price) I actually have UMK3 for Saturn. But I have only 1 working controller and it’s a little dinged up. If someone has that special edition of Armaggeddon that has UMK3, we can certainly play that. (or a 360 with UMK3 downloaded)
The scene isn’t completely dead in LI. Tekken is still kicking. The tourney at South Shore Mall last month generated 40 people. This month’s looks to be even bigger.
But yes, one game is not enough. There definitely needs to be a solid area for all games. Just like how NYC has NYCLAN, I hope to do the same with Castle Golf for LI.
But it’ll work only if a decent amount people come down relatively often.
Yea I know where selden is, my ex-girlfriend is from there.
I’m down for local matches anywhere. I havent played much SF series games as of lately though, minus the stuff on Xbox live. I used to play the shit out of CvsS2 but am super rusty hehe. I play alot of mortal kombat, and loved KI but havent played that in freakin 15 years lol. Last SF I played alot was SF Alpha 2. Dont really do Tekken, or any 3-d fighters… I’m anti 3-d :badboy: .
I have a Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 machine in my house so I’m avid with that at the moment.
I saw that website for that other tourney at the bayshore mall, what games will be played? I might have to start practicing hehe.
Go on ebay and look for UMK3 machines. I bought mine for 900$. They vary from that price. One guy in arkansas is selling a converted MK2 to UMK3 machine, and it includes the MK2 board. Would have cost ~900$ shipped last time I checked the auction, if I would have won at the price it was at.
Wow. Impressive. Well, there’s your UMK3 machine, urth. :bgrin:
I’m not interested in getting a UMK3 machine myself, and I don’t think I’ll be able to convince the owner of Castle Golf (Lance) to shell out that much money. Especially considering I’m aiming to convince him to get Tekken 6 when it comes out and that’s gonna be expensive.
Although if you’re ever interested in loaning out yours, perhaps some sort of rental deal can be worked out.
The tourney is for Tekken: Dark Resurrection. But there are other games there that people (definitely me) are certainly willing to play a match in. I’ve only been there once… so off the top of my head… Street Fighter III: Third Strike… Marvel Vs Capom 1 …(yes, only #1)… and there’s one of those all-in-one machines that has some misc old SFs. That’s all I remember.
Let me know what other games you get into. I’ll pop in UMK3 on the old Saturn sometime and practice. Haven’t played in many years… but I still remember my favorite Nightwolf combo:
:hk: :hp: :hp: :lp: :qcf: :lp: :r: :r: :lk:
:bgrin:
It’s like seared into my mind like the infamous :snka: :snkb: :snka: :snkc: :snka: :snkb: :snkb:
haha, yea they are man… Im down for some old SF2 on the ultracade machine. I would play the SF games they got at that mall more, but I need to practice and need competition, which is 2 things that the mall doesnt offer really anymore. MAN I wish there was a local arcade around here with just fighting games.
Maybe I should open one :wgrin:
If a bunch of us teamed up, this would certainly be possible. Just a matter of finding an available building.
CTF over in Chinatown does very well. A place like that on the Island should do well too.
then come back =P

Well, Im hopin gto have my garage arcade up and running this summer. I just picked up a nice solid SFA3 at an auction, and hope to get one more cps2 machine and some more boards. Im really looking forward to playing some people locally. This thing at Castle Golf sounds awesome.
