It’s really funy playing garen(and I assume anyone else who can silence), and run up/out of the bushes and silence vlad and spin on him, then when he starts pre emptively blood pooling, just starting to runup and stopping and watch him blood pool frivolously.
I hate Garen any character where his best build is to stack sunfire capes and press 2 buttons and just walk on people is a boring and stupid design. There is absolutely no thinking when playing that character.
stacking sunfires is not the best way to play garen, he needs one, and even then only early. I also find it funny how everyone hates him now even though he was considered terrible a couple months ago even though he’s had no changes whatsoever. I find garen way more interesting than most other AD champions.

Happens in alot of things. Garen, Moraganna, & Shaco seem to be getting alot of hate recently. Thankfully Riot has pretty much said they won’t be nerfing them. And seriously, if you’re constantly getting bushwacked by Garen buy some wards.

Update: Unfortunately there’s no real match coverage. You see glimpses, but you can’t really tell what’s going on. But oh well… Side entertainment. Hopefully they’ll show more of the matches in the finals, but I kind of doubt it.
yeah but morganna actually got buffs a bit before people were complaining about her, and shaco was always hella dumb just some people didn’t realize. EVERYONE crapped on garen for months, and then suddenly it’s like ‘wtf garen op and easy!!’, heck the only changes he’s gotten in the longest time are bugs, fixing the bugs the got added, and a nerf.
His biggest change was that he is able to cast all his spells during Judgment. After that patch there was a sudden influx of Garen players.
I played Garen a couple of patches before the use-abilities-while-spinning fix (also the fix where they broke his Q for the billionth time), and this sudden trend of sunfire capes stacking Garen is sickening. It is the easiest of easy modes, and it’s stupid.
The entire community thinks Garen is a tank now, to boot. I went into a game last night and got shit talked for playing AD/Crit Garen - you know, melee carry Garen, which is what he’s supposed to be. I shred people’s faces, even with just autoattacks, and whirlwind for stupid damage. Tank Garens are incredibly useless - they spin for like, 300 damage total, and then wait around to killsteal with execute. That’s the reason this build is so popular - faceroll sunfire Garen still gets to press R and do a stupid damage execute while being hard to kill.
If you’re curious as to an explanation for all this crap, go look at leaguecraft.com and read the highest rated guide for Garen. I don’t know how such idiocy got a ludicrously positive rating.
Also, to all Garen players here - please, for the love of all that is holy, stop using execute in situations where it is obviously not needed for the kill. If you, your Morgana, and your Kog’Maw are all sitting on this poor snared Veigar, don’t waste your freaking cooldown. Just hit him to death with normal attacks instead of being all OMG EXECUTE I WANTZ TEH GOLDZ - seriously, you’re making us look bad.
EDIT: Also, anybody that’s ever talked trash to a tank that went a match with a negative KDR should have their computer destroyed. I am Alistar, and I went 0/7. Clearly I am awful and you should call me bad, even though I did my job of throwing myself into the fire so you could all do your right clicking things. Oh, and we won.

The problem with Garen’s design is he was meant to be an AD carry, but his most effective build is tank mode.

Totally feel this and quoted for truth (every time I read QFT I think Quit F’ing Trolling lol). While I’m still only leveling, playing a tank is a tough job and sometimes it sucks having to not just take on enemy fire for your teammates, but taking “ally ignorant aggro.” First of all, this game is not only about Kill/Death ratio (and we’re forgetting Assists here–which tanks tend to have a lot of)–but the tank is taking a lot of crap to preserve all of the glass-damage characters.
Go fig with solo-queue though, when I use Shen’s Ult on my allies, sometimes they think they’re getting nuked so they run the heck away from the teamfight (Shen’s actually shielding them and teleporting to their location). The only skill a lot of allies seem to think I have (in mid-level queue I mean) is taunt and they think I can spam that every half second
There’s also a lot of people going over aggressive and killing themselves and yelling at you for not taunting the enemy from half a screen away. And then, if I do initiate a teamfight and we had an advantage and were all grouped, sometimes my team just runs to another lane? I dunno… but then I get yelled at for being a feeder lol.
But I will admit… when Shen does his ult, it really does look like you are getting blasted from the sky.
In any case, tanking can sometimes feel like a thankless job without actual communication. I assume premades aren’t so harsh on tanks, but tanks have to prepare for dealing with unreasonable crap from allies sometimes in queue games.
But LoL is not the first or the last to deal with this. I’m sure any MMO player that was a tank or a healer can relate.
I fail to see how that character is interesting, and for the record I never said he was good I just hate him for being a mindless wasteland to play. Also now that my main Morgana is getting banned all the time after dropping my original main of shaco I am turning to a character in which I believe will never be banned in Malphite. People say he sucks but my KA/D with him is 11.8:1 and every time people listen to me and follow me into a fight we win so w/e. Although my KA/D may have gone down slightly as I died 3 times due to the new client lag my last game weak.
Also where are these people getting these tier lists or do these scrubs just hold onto whatever they hear first which is what I am thinking. Thinking about buying Anivia to fill the gaping whole missing in my love of casters since Morgana keeps getting banned. Any insight on anivia lately? Haven’t played her since January.
Anivia is really good, but she is completely dependent on the skill of the person using her, more so than any other hero.

I hate Free Alistar week to be honest. most cant even do the pulverize -> headbutt correctly. im annie i get my stun, work my magic and my lane partner alistar headbutts them to safety. its like a… wtf are you serious moment. i usually give them another chance before i try to tell them anything but people usually dont listen in this game.
i’ve played alistar did pretty good until late in the game. late game i just felt like i couldn’t do anything effectively in group fights besides getting ignored. is there an effective build that’ll work late game with him?
also i’ve ran into alot of kennen with zhonya rings after WCG, anybody else see them or has this tactics been pretty common before the finals were streamed? cause honestly i’ve never ran into one before(and i’ve ran into alot of kennens). and i want to start playing a character that can jungle in the beginning. would you guys pefer WW or Udry?(or anybody else really).
Played a game this morning because of that damn Tuesday wow maintenance, after my little break I guess people still don’t have a sense of teamwork in the slightest. Had a nasus that went ad over survivability and wasn’t around for any team fights, and the end of the game everyone was still off on their own getting ganked while the other team rolled as one and destroyed us, I don’t understand why people waste time playing pve in this game instead of just working to push and actually win.
My biggest peeve is when a team will break the mid inhib and then instead of pushing towards the nexus or at least destroying the towers they are so intent on destroying the top and bottom lane instead of just winning.

Get out of solo queue. Just. Get out. Try to friend random players in match who show a strong sense of team synergy, laning ability etc…Just having the guarantee that at least 1 or 2 of your teammates will very useful is enough to seriously boost your winrate and allow you to be more flexible with your hero choice. For example. I’ll only pick Alistar when I know for a fact I have a competent carry on my team, one I can easily feed kills to and protect. Btw, success with Alistar really hinges on how well you can feed kills in the early game, keep lanes pushed, and keep the other teams carry out of the big fights as much as you can manage.
While I was going up in levels through unranked solo queue, I just added people that didn’t feed, played teamwork at least a little, and showed up to team fights. Now I just play with them and the game is much more enjoyable.
