@Vulcan Hades – Solid play man, I’ve got several saved from following you that I learned a few things here and there on.
Is that Hk or MK fuhajin you are using in the corner to tag Yoshi in? I imagine you could use St. Mp as well as opposed to St. Hp?
Any rate that could be very useful in the corner with Chun’s jump cancel combos.

I really need to post some videos too; but more on the input and advice side in order improve my game.

Yeah you could but that would deal less damage and I see no reason to use st.mp instead of st.hp in the corner.

Midscreen I sometimes use st.mp just to make sure I stay in range for the fuhajin to hit. Yoshi’s launcher doesn’t send the opponent very high in the air so it’s hard to land cr.hp jc j.hp consistently. So instead I come in with Juri and cr.hp jc Dive Kick, st.mp xx HK Fuhajin xx Switch. It deals less damage but it’s easy and reliable so I never drop it.

True - damage is damage, might as well maximize it where you can!
Just wanted to make sure you could do it with St. Mp for the mid-screen action, like you suggested.
Thankfully Chun launches opponents decently high, I’d say just high enough for Juri to do her J. Hp combos. Timing of course is different depending on the character. But this is a nice option to add into the mix.

I really can’t delay my J. Hp so I can N.J. HK off the ground bounce – like I’ve seen you do in a few matches.
I hit the lab and experimented with the characters you did it on and they always seem to fall just short of her leg with Chun’s launcher, I can switch cancel off Chun’s EX LLegs and I can hit it, but not terribly reliable enough to bank on. The trade off too with Chun’s EX LLegs is not really worth using two bars.

I wish the Chun section was as active. I’ve come up with some nice stuff but having people to feed off of always helps the development process!

Really looking for some Juri help but you can feel free to comment on my overall game; let me know what I’m doing right, wrong, what I can do better to optimize damage etc.,
I’ve gotta find a way to ramp up my game so that is why I’m posting these; I’m sticking with this game even known so many hate it – I have no desire to go back to SSF4 like many have.
(obviously I’m using Chun Li and Juri)

I need a lot of work myself, but I did notice a few things.

  • you can do fs.mp xx lk.senpusha after landing a dive for 180 dmg (dive > lk senpusha does 140)

  • use hk.fuhajin for tag combos, the projectile does 10 more dmg than the mk version

  • work on spacing dives better, most of what I saw got aimed above the waist (something I’m also working on…)

  • practice Juri’s AA, it’s one of her primary strengths and I only saw a single AA through all three videos (cr.mp against a dive kick in the first vid). :frowning:

  • lots of unsafe boost combos, practice hit confirming these into a manual launch. I’m not familiar with Chun, but a couple things I use on juri are:
    [INDENT=1]- cr.hp xx release low > fs.mp xx launcher (high damage, low scaling)[/INDENT]
    [INDENT=1]- cr.lk > cl.lk > fs.lk > fs.lk > fs.mk > fs.hk xx launcher ( low damage, high scaling, -extremely- safe… just stop on mk if they’re blocking)[/INDENT]

  • The chun ex-combos are flashy, but you may be able to get better damage linking into an SBK and tagging off it… again, I’m not familiar with chun so I could be completely off on this.

  1. You’re not maximizing your damage. You often end with cr.mp xx LK pinwheel. End with cs.hp xx LK pinwheel instead. No reason not to. It’s just as easy and the timing is the same.

  2. When you pressure you often go for cr.mk xx Store when you’re obviously out of range. Use far standing mp instead to move yourself forward and make the store connect.

  3. Again when you pressure you do cr.mk, LK fuhajin release, cr.mk (whiff). You need to pay more attention to spacing. You need to know when cr.mk will hit and when it’s better to use st.mp or Sekku.

  4. You often store a fuhajin at the worst possible times. Only raw store when you’re further than sweep distance or when you get a long enough knockdown.

  5. If you use a cross-rush chain and notice that it’s getting blocked, don’t be afraid to cancel the medium or heavy normal (if you can) into EX CADC. Don’t end the chain with the launcher if they’re blocking. Or at least tag cancel it to make it a little safer. But yeah like Darkphyre mentioned, ideally you should always try and hit confirm with links and once you got confirmation end with cross-rush/launcher or a special tag cancel.

  6. You sometimes end your strings with an MK or HK pinwheel when they’re blocking. Hit confirm into pinwheel. Block confirm into fuhajin store.

  7. Second match you landed a wake up EX Pinwheel but didn’t follow up with a raw tag to get Juri out and Chun Li in (she had a lot more health and Juri was down to her magic pixel but you still decided to keep Juri in).

With A/As I typical try to do Cr. Hp like the second video KenxJin @ 40-ish seconds, which I also hit all kicks but for some reason got EX Senpusha instead of Super.
Some instances with the cross rush is wonky execution like the KenxJin vid @3:18 I have the motion of Ex kikouken but it didn’t come out-- if anything it still should have gone to launcher because I use Mp&Hp for EXs – admittedly I’m not 100% perfect so I do mess up.
Another really weird part of the same video Vulcan mentioned the Ex Senpusha I did on wake up - I was mashing on tag, which is why Juri just stood there but Chun didn’t come in. Things like that happen to me in this game I don’t know what is going on really, especially when the input display shows that I did it (I leave inputs off for these upload because the quality of vids are bad enough without distracting stuff on the sides)

I’ll certainly implement St. Hp more often and take other notes mentioned in consideration
I don’t do CADC at all in my game so that is now a mandatory quick fix

You’re spending a lot of meter on EX moves. Notably on wake up but I also saw 2 random EX fuhajins that didn’t do much. I think Bison has much better EX moves and alpha counter than Juri so try not to waste so much when Juri is in.

For punishing, never do light > medium > heavy > launcher. That’s a very bad punish because it’s a cross-rush (gives them 50% grey health) that scales a lot. You don’t have to hit confirm a punish because your combo is already guaranteed. So next time instead of the magic series you should punish with something like: cr.hp/cr.mk xx launcher/HK pinwheel tag if you want to switch characters.

edit: Oh yeah, and you need to stop going for the Dive Kick x3 punish lol. That’s a bad habbit from SSF4. In SFxT Juri can deal a lot more damage if her dive kick hits only once: HK dive kick, cr.mk xx MK Pinwheel tag cancel.

Well you could start by optimizing your combos to maximize damage…

For example, I often saw you go for this AA combo: cr.hp jc j.hp, cr.mk xx Store. That’s barely 280 damage. Instead you should do: cr.hp jc j.hp, j.mk, cs.hp xx LK Senpusha. That’s 369 meterless. Why end your juggles with cr.mk xx Store when you can end with cs.hp xx LK Pinwheel and get more damage + a safe jump or a safe store? There’s no reason not to considering how piss easy Juri’s combos are.

cr.hp jc j.hp, nj.hk, Super = 535 damage vs 480 (the one you did)

First match, you kept jumping on your opponent with j.mk. Try to use Juri’s j.roundhouse and j.fierce more. j.mk should mostly be used for cross-ups and for air-to-air. Not for normal jump ins…

I also saw some bad stores, poor blocking (especially when they jumped at you) and questionable zoning. But that’s all related to the same thing: assessment of spacing.

I’m having a lot of trouble using that j.hp and figuring out how to get out of pressure heavy situations. Do I continue to block? Do I back dash? I’m not a big fan of pin wheel reversal… And I hardly imagine you would recommend it.

However looking at my combos I got really into it and managed to cut a lot of fat out of my combos even with raven to make my combos more effective I’m now getting up to 533 off of one bar… But spacing and blocking is some thing that I still need help with… Where should I start?

I noticed you rely too much on Juri’s anti-airs. When your opponent jumps at you at a range where Juri’s AA don’t work you seem to panic and forget to block.

When you’re under pressure and your opponent is pressing a lot of buttons, you can always use Kasatushi (her counters) to ass out and possibly reverse the pressure.

EX Pinwheel isn’t great but it can still save your ass. If you have 2 meters and are about to die, don’t be scared to EX Pinwheel tag cancel or Alpha Counter tag cancel.

Frame data says Juri’s launcher has 13 start up so it’s pretty slow. Don’t use raw launcher to punish.

I meant throw a standing/crouching medium or heavy normal and cancel it into HP+HK as if launcher was a special move (non cancelable normals like Juri’s st.mk can be canceled into launcher btw). It does more damage and scales a lot less than cross-rush/magic series.

I played these 3 guys a lot during the last 2 weeks.

You’re going to primarily want to be poking with cr.mk or fs.mp buffered into fuhajin or st.hk > launcher… that said, Juri’s footsies are more centered around counter-poking, also try to have a fuhajin stored so you can keep your opponent in check while fishing for that whiff punish.

Post patch, still using my main team(Akuma/Juri) in ranked, while still learning Bryan and Alisa on the side in Endless.
