After that I had started using a program called Direct Connect, which eventually became known as DC++, before torrents were around.
Not really…if people are willing to actually think, and not just do whatever. Companies are willing to sue here, and p2p is easier to monitor. Knowing those risks, and that other alternatives are available EASILY, it makes no sense to still screw around with p2p. Laziness and ignorance prevail here, I guess.
Torrent sites aren’t going anywhere especially the private torrent sites like Demonoid.
You can download single songs via torrents. Just find the album it’s on and then uncheck the rest of the files you don’t want.

Whats the legal stance on downloading stuff from Megaupload/Rapidshare/MediaFire that has been linked from small forum communities?
I find alot of my music from select underground blogs and messageboards.They are an absolute goldmine.
From what I know it’s a big cluster fuck. Especially if the peson is in charge of the forum, isn’t even a U.S citizen. Plus they have to deal with the actual hosting site. Forums like these usually just switch domain names after a while and they can tack on a post minimum to read certain section so that in itself gives a headache to whomever trying to stop it. I don’t think those are going anywhere anytime soon.
Also websites like Megaupload actually pays uploaders if they get xxxx amount of downloads. So sometimes even when they know they have illegal stuff they move real slow to take it down.

i’m with Nasty Manx on this one. i don’t think i can deal with life without limewire :sad:. i’m fixing viruses on a computer right now with the lime on it. LOOK AT THE START UP ITEMS! LOOK AT THEM!!! That’s just how my co-workers’ and my uncle’s (4 female cousins using the same pc) pc are: women just let what-the-fuck-ever install itself on there without a care in the world (“Jess keep clickin’ “yes”, you don’ gotta read all dat”), and can’t understand why the pc is all munged up and slower than a constipated sloth crossing a room of fly paper.
yeah, this was a woman’s computer. in her defense she had a fully updated version of McAfee. McAfee isn’t all that great imo, but at least she attempted “safe surfing” also, i’ve been fixing people’s computers since i was a little kid. worst viruses i’ve ever seen ever. i’m not lying about those startup items- AT LEAST 5000 copies of that garbage text. took me 3 days to get rid of all that shit- and it’s still kinda messed up (i got it updated all the way up to service pack 3 but that won’t install). apparently she gave it to 3 other local businesses to try to get it fixed and they couldn’t do it. feels good knowing i did it- also feels bad that i can’t get a job at a local computer shop.
