Lpgh is -2 again and c.lk is +5. I just test it. S.lk feels the same. I was hitting all the combos ok…s.mp nerf hurts a little, was getting stuffed, not that bad. There might be some damage buffs too. Well see for sure soon.

It is quite impossible to “feel” the difference between -2 & -3 LPGH, but i just wanna to confirm it.

It is more meter saving (cost 3 bars) but can also combo into UC1
And guys dont forget UC2 can also be comboed after focus attack (against only big character, suck as THawk, Gouken, Zangief…etc
It’s highly match-up and personal risk dependent. If you can survive WITHOUT EXGH, or if you happen to find yourself sitting on full meter. It’s a 4 frame ranged punished (st.lk range) into big damage. It’s obvisious Daigo’s Ryu doesn’t have better frame data than other Ryu’s, he might have more knowledge, but that works both ways, if you put in your homework. Daigo is phase 3: yomi over everyone. Whether they’re pro or random, if they anticipate and play wheel of fortune better than you, they win.
But now the odds of the guessing game are more better when Zangief has full meter. An incorrect poke, jump or fireball at the wrong time, has became more dangerous.
If you have Ultra 1 and Full EX, if would be hard for them to escape. Harder than if you had Ultra 1 + Ultra 2. They block, back dash or jump, all options if countered correctly, lead into big damage. Ultra 2 + Ultra 1, just can’t catch most back dashes fast enough in certain situations.
Zangief
As his far standing MP’s hitbox has been greatly weakened, Gief is now much easier to beat in normal move footsies. In this version too, I feel that Zangief is below mid-tier – he’s not very strong.
Is it real? As i know in the previous acrade patch, SMP is only nerfed by extending its hurtbox, but WTF now CAPCOM nerfed its hitbox once again?

So is the console build going to have different balancing than the current arcade build? If not, then you might just be playing the same outdated version I did at Texas Showdown.
You need about 23 frames to cover the start up of Red Focus, assuming its the same startup as regular Focus.
If you cancel from close MP or close MK you only have 15 frames before they regain control from hit stun.
If you cancel from cr.HP, you only have 22 frames. But you could do it meaty to hit from frame 2 to 4 of its active frames to Red Focus Cancel
It won’t be possible off of HPGH, due to the lack of hit stun.
Only off of EXGH with its 28 frames of hit stun frames after cancelling.
The st.lk empty kara RFC, if it’s still possible is the best way to go. Due to the st.lk property of being kara cancellable for its active frames 5 and 6.
This will save 1 EX bar while also reducing the damage scaling by 2 hits, eg. xx RFC - U1 instead of st.lk xx EXGH xx RFC - U1
But if they can be hit by the 23 frame RFC, you could have simply dashed up into U1.
4 EX bars looks like the way to go for a 4 frame hitting confirmable Ultra.
It makes me sick to my stomach looking at these changes … I don’t see the justification in nerfing his standing mp. Delayed wake up already hurts us alot and nerfing his normals are uncalled for. Why can’t we have that but other characters like rose, gen, Cammy and much more could??
Guys we need to tweet capcom fighters and combofiend and let them know that this shit isn’t right. he’s already nerfed enough with delayed wakeup, spd and jump fierce…

I think gief is moving up to one of the better characters in this game. Especially since the LP gh is faster, and we can punish some of our terrible matchups better. Like Oni f.hp on block is -9 (?) not sure.
Mpgh rfa was from combofiend. Gief’s s.mp is aaaawwwfffuuullll. So garbage. It was getting stuffed by almist every one of Dud’s buttons. Dudley is godlike. Smug made him look like a boss character, faster sweep, s.hp hitbox all over the place
Also, damn RIP st. mp had a good run of faceroll neutral game with ya bud T_T

Nerfs:
st. mp: okay this is big for us, but I’ve always felt shorts/jabs were more solid in footsies anyway. Anything you can stuff with mp you can probably stuff with cr. jab maybe just not from the same ranges. Still good as a whiff punish cuz of fast startup so that’s good.
SPD range -.05: this is kind of bad as well, but outside of some honestly kind of stupid scenarios and neutral game it’s fine. Kind of weird design choice considering walk up SPD or catching a limb are what they reworked gief into from Super to AE but I understand it because [SEE LP GH BUFF BELOW]
Delayed wakeup: this is the biggest nerf by far (losing guaranteed pressure always is a big blow) but it’s still all good imo because it means that the few characters that had offense on Gief on KD now don’t (yay guessing games for them as well) and we are still gonna have good not great pressure [SEE LP GH BUFF BELOW]. RIP my Body Splash 50/50’s though
Jumping Heavy Punch: Remains to be seen but from what I’ve played with it it’s still fine. Didn’t get to play against anybody it really is spammed against (Bison/Fei/etc). I think I played against Jeron Grayson’s bison at FR on the ultra patch, but I don’t remember needing to back up in the corner to win too often. We’ll see in the near future.
BUFFS:
st. mk: yeah this does nothing pm but it’s cool vs fast sweeps like Ryu. Should make those matchup less frustrating until he’s got super but w/e buff in general.
Ultra double: I think this is an awful and useless mechanic but some people don’t so w/e
System Changes: Generally more beneficial than not for Gief outside of delayed wakeup imo. Red focus, although not really cost efficient for us is still there for like cr. mk fireball or akuma st. hk etc idk we’ll see what good people come up with.
Light Punch Greenhand: Okay, even at -3 on hit this would still be a super important buff imo. The reason this shit is so important is it makes SPD GH over like +6. That means Gief basically gets nice meaty pressure. Since Gief’s options cover all the normal wakeups for most people, this is pretty scary. While you won’t get as many crazy SPDs in neutral, the ones you do get are gonna be much more scary imo.
At -2 on hit, it’s also a nice ender for 0 meter ty capcops that puts us next to opponent.
