Let Me Know When the Fight Starts!: The MvC3 X-23 Video Thread

=P I mostly suggested that team to Luis because he’d only be changing Ryu, so he’s only have to learn one character. Infinite, raw tag, Dirt Nap, Wesker OTG into another TAC, one last Dirt Nap, XF, game.

EDIT: Also, how do you guys feel about an X-23 Skype group chat? As far as I know, the good Frank West players have one, and I’m part of the Deadpool group, and a lot of tech/silliness gets discussed there. It just seems like a good way to condense X-23 tech into one area where it can be more quickly exchanged. Just an idea. =P

Yeah. The lack of dirt nap guarantee is still a bit…eh…I think dorm is one of her ideal partners as a damage engine, but not as a dirt nap engine.

It would be be some super tight links, but you might be able to do TAC infinite > Stalking flare (4 meters left) > dirt nap (1 meter left) > dash L link > combo > OTG dark hole > wesker + charged NS, s.Sxxtk CS HxxTA L, otg xx xf (I think you’ll be over 1.2mil with just a CS HxxTA H but there’s an incredibly tight S xx tk CS H xx TA L, land, otg, cs HxxTA H available there.)

Assuming your opponent has the health for it that should build 2+ meters. Still raw dirt nap on the last guy, though.

Maybe if you could manage to get the charges for meteors instead of stalking flare?

Looking at Angelic’s method of the infinite, I’m thinking you could dash down to the ground after the infinite, charge the meteors, release, raw tag, call Dark Hole and Dirt Nap, and go from there.

EDIT: Actually, with that team, after the infinite, Stalker Flare into Dirt Nap, use Wesker assist into charged Neck Slice, launch, do another infinite, then repeat, except this time you get the final kill using XF. =P All you need is one touch and two TACs.

Not saying it’s not perfectly releasable, just that it’s another 33% gamble that’s completely unnecessary with a more optimized team.

That’s what DapVip is doing right now (which kills me every time he does it since you don’t even need to on that team.) It still works, but if you’re going to pick a new team, why not pick the character that lets you end the game on 1 gamble?

If you have time for it, maybe Dorm infinite > Charge meteor > stalking flare > dirt nap > double extension + xf > hard tag Dorm (have to make sure you have the right combo to kill at optimal times) > meteors > XF > hard Tag > dirt nap?

God that’s complicated…and relies on you being able to guarantee 5 meters after the infinite.

Compare that to Infinite > hard tag > JS/RB dirt nap > XF back to 3 meters > JS/RB dirt nap.

I can’t see any reason to make things hard on yourself, especially when you can play Dante + UB/EMD or Mags, Morrigan, Viper, Vergil, Zero with JS, or X23 backed by JS/RB and strong hori assists. There are so many strong options that don’t take all that hard work and character specific worries.

There are way too many top tier shells that are double dirt naps now that Dante has a reliable infinite (that guarantees 4+ bars at 240k damage done) to play something that takes as much work as X23/Dorm/Wesker would.

well I said i would build a team around X23 and if optimally that means removing Wesker as well as Ryu, then so be it. oh and guys i got the money ready, what should i buy to record?

I really like my Avermedia LGP but I don’t have a lot of other recording experience to go against. I will say that the LGP has been pretty brainless, no lag, easy to carry around, and great quality.

I use an Elgato to record, and I’ve had no problems with it at all. It’s not very expensive, and it does the job very well.

And I nominated going for a second infinite because it’ll get you back to 5 meters without burning XF, and if you can’t kill the last character with a Dirt Nap, two meters, and XF, a bit of combo improvement is needed. If you burn XF for the second character, there’s no guarantee you’ll kill the last character with a Dirt Nap and the following combo if you don’t have an OTG for another a.H - CS H - TA L rep. At the very least, I haven’t spent much time looking into post-DN XF combos.

Even without XF or any assists, she can still dirt nap, build a meter for super and do ~725 pre-super. (I don’t have a vid of the optimal dash L pickup, but the only difference is a CS LxxTA L at the starter instead of just TA L so add another 30~40k, the vid here shows the 700k option which you need to gain a meter back on Strider, RR, and Akuma.)

Then check the meter gain on just the extension portion with Dark Hole + OTG on this vid, it’s a little over +1 meter and ~265k before XF use. (Check the combo at 1:00)

You’re already at 1mil before you’ve popped XF and still have a s.SxxTK CS HxxTA L, OTG, CS HxxTA H, chip CS H available, which does something like another 300k and a bit under 3/4ths of a bar (480k fully scaled damage builds a bar for X23.)

The combos would probably have a bunch of tight links on the SxxTK CS Hs, but I don’t think that team would have any issues double dirt napping raw (or stalking flare option on ~1mil health guys.)

Dude, Disruptor assist is glorious. Call it and throw out a raw Neck Slice. If it hits, combo with s.M. If it’s blocked, go for a low, a fuzzy high, or a command grab. It’s fucking brilliant.

EDIT: Hell, you can even go for a MF M - TA L crossup.

Yeah, I have a much better appreciation for emd than I used to. I’ve been trying to work assist + MF H into my pressure strings and Oki setups, lately. Especially since I’ve been running the hulk matchup a lot lately, being able pressure and threaten a mixup while still blocking is pretty nice. Especially against characters with crap like gamma charge and shield skills.

I’ve been messing around with MF H as well. My friend said that j.M is “janky” at best as far as being usable for a fuzzy, and so I’ve been exploring finding a way to use EMD to set up a good fuzzy, and I’m thinking MF H may be the key.

Been playing around with looping s.H - MFC, and I didn’t realize how awesome it is for baiting a pushblock. Loop it a few times, then delay another normal or go low or high or whatever else I wanna do.

Yeah, she gets to frame trap and bait with so much.

Got some sets recorded from FL. Can’t share the set I played vs. Shoultz (per his request) but I’ll try to get the rest uploaded soon.

What’s up my fellow X-23 players! I’m not sure if this is old tech, but around the time of me posting this video to YouTube i have not came across something like this (could be my lack of research) but i have a relaunch combo with X-23 in the corner. not the most practical combo she has, but it’s pretty cool imo.

Unfortunately, not new, but always great to have some new blood on the forums. (Things have been pretty quiet lately.) A little after I did this vid, one of the other X23 main’s did a vid showing the link off the sj.S instead of the dH. I wish it did more damage, though.

Yeah i would sometimes check the X23 forum, but i was inspired to make an account after i bumped into another X23 player online using the exact same team as i was practicing (X23/Dorm/Doom).

Well, even though that’s old, i might have some tech that is fresh (probably not, but a reminder isn’t bad.) with Hidden Missiles, X23 can get 2 otg’s in the corner. It’s kinda like this combo, but a lil more practical.

Pretty much, after an air combo in the corner, you would call ankle slice and HM at the same time to get the first otg (might have to dash forward depending on the size of the character) and after the pickup you do air

,

air talon L to the remaining 4 or 3 missles to

,

Whatever you want to end it too. (unfortunately, i do have a capture card readily available to better show this). from what i tested tho it doesnt work on small characters and for big bodies (and dorm) for the second pickup you will have to omit

and just go straight to Crescent Scythe immediately after the pick up. you can get away with a TK CS on Sent, but, who really wants to TK DP motions? lol

If anyone wants to play online my GT is JR159, but the next time ill be online would prob be this Saturday.

To my knowledge that double otg IS new. I have seen a variant of it though but not double otg. Nice

Same, I haven’t seen that variation of a double OTG before. Good stuff.

Nah, that’s Jayto’s Youtube (Jonathan To) vid from a year ago. (I think he posted a lot of his other vids from around that time on here a page or 2 back. Don’t think he posted this specific one, though.) The version from his vid was too character specific and finicky to be too useful. When I was messing around with Missiles, I just used the old Quasidomo relaunch. s.S+Missiles, sj.HdHxxCS HxxTA L, land, neutral jump TA L right as missiles start to hit, s.S sj.HxxCS HxxTA L, etc.

I think the biggest problem we weren’t able to solve was having a reliable way to use missiles as a dirt nap guarantee. He had a situational answer after killing at specific spacings but nothing concrete.

Well, now since i have borrowed my friends capture card i can record my version of the combo. It’s not perfect by any means but it’s much more practical, with some exceptions. It also works on both sides of the screen, but it is slightly easier on the left.
Unfortunately, this combo only works in the corner so midscreen the only thing i know works is the Quasidomo relaunch (also, i’ve never heard of him before. I’m checking out his match with flux as of typing this.)

Well, i know this setup isn’t guaranteed, but on incoming, MF M, Hidden Missiles, dash forward (to go back to your initial side), Dirt nap isn’t so bad.

I accidentally found a reset setup for it in the corner while i has having some offline sets with some friends that involves the double OTG in the corner, but I’m not sure if its perfect. Pretty much after the first OTG you go into dirt nap (which would drop the initial combo) and then while the opponent is getting hit with the remaining 4 or so missiles you do air CS H into dirt nap. Afterwards you can do your regular OTG combo (in my case with Dark hole assist) to finish the job. It worked on Hulk, but i need to see if it’ll work for smaller characters. At first glance this might be useful for a potential double dirt nap setup if you started out with 4-5 bars from your first dirt nap, and need extra meter to get to 3 bars again mid combo.
