Yeah, I’m trying to make it a point to be confirming into full luis loops and that’s something I always take time to work on in the lab, it’s rough working that in when you’re trying to do a serious set and you drop a combo to keep going for it though when less optimal stuff kills. I think for the MU on P0tat0 I need to get the XF1 reversal + 2 bars combo against spencer on lock. The health on those 2 characters is so rough to deal with and I’m def. not going for the infinit enough, either… Same with zero off the log confirm as far as killing and gaining 2 meters…getting late CS extensions against his is rough because of how small he is and I don’t like risking letting him live so there’s not a whole lot of dirt napping in that set. Nova though…That man is a walking dirt nap battery, lol. That perfect amount of health.
I actually have a regiment of stuff to work on in the lab ranging from specific combos, setups, MFC confirms, Infinites, etc.
4th vid is processing now, 5th is uploading. I’ll get those put up soon. Hope to have some more sets recorded tomorrow, too.
Okay, so here’s part 2 of the Staark set, and part 1 of the DizzyD set. After the first few matches on the DizzyD set I start running him pretty hard and have like a 7 or 8 game streak against Zero/Vergil/Hawkeye.
I think this is the rest of my stuff from TFC. I lost the first set against Raid pretty badly, lots of salt cause that dude presses so many buttons. I don’t know if the next I had against him actually had the full set or not, but I’m pretty pleased that I was able to adapt and ended up running the next set 6 straight at the end of the set. (finally score was something like 2~3 - 7.)
I messed around with setting up missiles on incoming like that. Have you found any other ways to set that up reliably out after killing with a super? I wasn’t able to do anything with it that I felt was consistent enough to be worthwhile.
It probably isn’t that useful, just something you can keep in your back pocket. Off a DHC into dirt nap, you can probably set up the missiles while invisible. Off of rage trigger, maybe you’ll have enough time if they die on the last hit? You can dial in the combo a little by choosing to not mash RT, and you’ll have more time for setup after.
Most likely, this setup will only be useful in xf2, though.
I played a guy in a first to 15 set for 200 bucks.
its starts around 44 min in. but i run my B-team for the first 8 games. after that theres a lot of Laura goodness in there.
Unfortunately theres also a lot of sloppiness and dropped combos. but I think youll enjoy it regardless
The way I play her is pretty raw and kind of reliant on having my MFCs down to a T.
That’s the nice thing about playing weird teams. If people knew those MUs you wouldn’t have gotten away with 75% of that, lol. Good vid, though.
Just as a quick edit: If you watch some of my videos, people let me get away with raw teleports with XF RR so it wasn’t meant as an insult or anything.
Great set. Like the stalking flare > unblockable setup. Like your MFC pressure, feel like it’s leveled up since the last set I saw of yours. Lots of great throw reads, there were a few times where I think you should have taken the free damage/meter on Thor and OTG with Dante > relaunch Dorm > then snap rather than snapping right off the bat. Also think you were giving bolts a bit too much respect. Since he tended to just dash up on you with Thor when you were crouching under bolts, I would have been throwing out a few c.M/H pokes to deter him (You did it once or twice and I’m sure he would have switched over to striking in, but that still works better for you since that’s not a mixup and it gives you something to push block to protect against the command grab after.)
Glad we’re looking at pressuring with JS the same way (makes me feel like I’m headed in the right direction.) Still trying to get a good handle on using that assist in neutral and def. plan to watch again to look at some of your setups since you def. have a better handle on that assist than I do atm. (I switched over to Dante/X23/IM just recently.)
Anchor Dante is looking a little choppy, def. want to get a few of his stupid good XF3 combos on lock to capitalize on those situations a bit better. Thought your pressure game was really nice, but a few dropped combos here or there.
At 18:23, you probably should have OTG’d with dorm rather than XFing and tried to ramp up the damage scaling as much as possible. It would have been tight, but with dark hole and as many Ls as you can manage you might have been able to hit the 1.4 bars you needed to dirt nap Thor, too (even if you couldn’t get the dirt nap on thor, you would have been able to kill without XF and put yourself in a better incoming situation against Thor). There were a few other places where I felt you might have missed out on a dirt nap by not XFing with X23.
Have you spent any time looking at Dante combos/neutral with CS rather than just running her LowTG? I really want to shift back to CS but I’m not sure if it’s really that viable in a match setting.
Always nice to see new matches from you and hope you post a few more, soon.
Bunch of post dirt nap videos. Plan to eventually make a double dirt nap tutorial video so these will probably get compiled at some point. Just letting them hang out for the moment though. Post dirt nap followups to kill Thor and Strider/RR meterless while still being +1 meter positive for double dirt nap setups.
Match vids. I have 2 more full Wandles vids on the way as well as 2 more sets with the Dante/X23/Mags team. The Mags vids are mostly me getting bodied, the Wandles v. Me set is the back end of a 5 hour session and it’s pretty back and forth. Lots of double dirt nap games, though.
Every character can, yeah. Vergil gets it a bit easier because he doesn’t have to plink the throw~dash and just gets to go ham with an I Win button.
For her to cover and convert off every option, I imagine it would go something like:
missiles~ufH~L+M dfHxxDP H.
call missiles plinked into a ufH plinked into a L+M button followed by an OS dfH cancelled into a DP.
This would give you a throw attempt on the ground with a missiles throw conversion, then give you a dash jump followed by a throw attempt in the air (not sure how missiles would react to this, but I think it would be fine if done fast enough) or a dH if they’re not in range for the throw or stayed grounded, then cancel into a DP since her dH is unsafe on whiff (missiles should be coming down around the time the DP is over to let you set up crossupes with TAs or land safely.)
She has an amazing dash jump so you might get a crossup dH which would make you have to put the DP in the other way. If you left out the DP they might be able to dash and make the dH whiff for a full punish. If you screw up the OS, you’re probably getting HBD’d since you have to call Missiles to make the ground throw scary.
I don’t know if there’s a reason to worry about pope selecting stuff offensively with her. It’s not a bad thing to have as a defensive option but I don’t feel like you can cover enough options with her tools to make it as good as vergils.
Here’s their older video about pope selecting with characters in general.
Got a ton of matches recorded last night and got my ass beat by wandles. Set ends 60/40 his favor, but most of the ass beating happens in the first 2 vids. Around vid 3 we start going a bit more evenly. I’m still far from optimized with my team, but I feel like it’s shaping up nicely.
Still a great showcase on why Wandle’s team is so good. You’re pretty much always guessing on incoming and you just have to eat SoR bs from hulk and if you block RB, you’re probably getting hit if you don’t pushblock correctly. Not a lot of double dirt nap’s going on this set (I stopped focusing on that after I managed to infinite hulk, then fuck up the dirt nap and get double dirt napped from Wandles instead. :/)
Vid 3 is still processing, Vid 4 and 5 are still uploading.
Be sure to check out 40:30 on video 4. IM goes for a level 3 against Dante’s DT, I cancel into shockwave and WXP, which wins the trade. The wierd thing about it is that WXP had a super hard knockdown + 3 or 4 bounces instead of the soft knockdown it’s supposed to have.
I’ll def. be looking it it more in the lab and try to find a way to recreate it.
Thanks a lot and well done for uploading. Your team is really strong and I actually visualise the team in a tournament enviroment.
However, one thing you said left me a little bit confused. You said that Wandles team is so good, but when I suggested Zero/Ironman/X-23 you said you didn’t think Zero could control the neutral with just Repulsar Blast. However, Zero has better damage, better mobility, better DHCs, better mixups, better matchups and also has an amazing projectile game. Doesn’t that make Zero or Magneto better candidates for the Ironman/X-23 shell? Hulk is good, but not on the level of those two characters.
