Nice matches… but I wonder why he chose Ultra 2 against Gen. Makes no sense at all. Am I missing some thing?
But really nice matches. Wish I could upload some of mine here too.

He was changing it up I think. He normally uses Ultra 1 against me. He caught me with it, and I wasn’t paying attention to him switching to it. So I switched to my Ultra 2.

U2 might not be a bad idea against viper. it would win air to air everytime against BKs because they are projectiles. good idea
I think I’d use U2 with Viper against Gen. Or at least against my Gen. I tend to jump a lot, and it also connects off of EX seismo, but I guess it depends on how comfortable you are with it.
I can’t connect to the IRC chat, anyone else having problems? It might just be this college wifi.
I would like to play someone on this thread with my Gen (not mirror match), and let me know wtf is going on. I feel I get too impatient, but when I wait, nothing happens. I just need to upload some matches or something, because I keep losing to players who don’t seem to know wtf they are doing.
Well I was using U1 and in another set that we played (I didn’t upload because we both agreed they were laggy.) he was doing full screen Seismo’s and I caught him with U1. But ya I think U2 might be the better choice. Especially since they like to use burn kicks to get in.
Let me know how you make out with U2 vs her.
It’s probably your college, IRC ports are one of the most blocked ports.
Are you using the web client directly on quakenet?
Crane c.MK may be good against wake-up or that sudden rush-in jump BKs (idk how i can call it), cuz it’ll make BK whiff even if it comes as a wake-up meaty. Viper players in general don’t seem to be very familiar against moves that make the opponent stay in one place yet still make meaty BKs whiff, but it may be that I’m playing non-pros (now I can’t even do that until PSN comes back up).
wtf you are from Calgary? Didn’t know that(random)
I keep meaning to use that, but I’m always in Mantis, and end up doing damn c.LK. I dunno why I do that. I wonder if Mantis c.MK will work.
Well that’s the thing, I’ve been on it [IRC] before, and I’m on it now. It was just being weird I guess.
Is anyone going to EVO? It would be cool to see some of you guys for some last minute tips.
ive tried using crane cr.mk before. it works decent enough, but theres not much room to capitalize on the bk whiff, due to the long ass animation/recovery. i feel like viper recovers before you do in that situation. so you can use it, just dont whore it out

@tha
Most times both will recover roughly at the same time, and if the BK is very meaty Viper might recover first. This is exploiting the situation that Viper players are certainly not familiar with; opponent made your meaty air BK whiff, yet they did not have any horizontal or vertical movement (even shoto’s c.MK cannot do that as they will just get countered out in meaty situation). They usually do not have it programmed in their gameplay, so most times it’s better than blocking since Viper players are too familiar with what to do after it’s blocked. They will just try to do wutever they do while you forward grab them (they would rarely use EX TH after a simple whiff). Smart Vipers will change it up and use a simple jump attack then combo up your ass, so it’s certainly something you should watch out for. As with any move, this is not a 100% guaranteed escape option. Like you said, “don’t whore it out”.
I’ll be at EVO. I have a lot of AE experience and soon as I graduate in about 2 months, I’ll be putting a lot of lab time in on Gen to learn all the Oga setups, testing different situational OS, and trying out new mixups. I just hope I can find good people to practice the twins matchup with.
For anyone that’s interested, here’s a match with Amiyou (I think?) vs Guile - starts at 5.05. The third round is a good opportunity to eyeball the damage of Gens new meterless bnb. Don’t know if it’s been posted here before.

wtf, does gen’s sweep come out faster?
I really had this same impression too. o_O
I dunno if it comes out faster, but it def looks like it recovers faster.

enjoy!!!
I dunno how you get away with so many jump ins and ogas.
Speaking of Oga’s I wish they were faster. Like so fast that when a Hadouken leaves Ryu you can reach to it, and still reach him before he has time to recover.
