Let him play how he wants to play. We were all beginners once so we shouldn’t be judging others.
Instead of looking for something “interesting” or how “weak” he was, why don’t we look at what he accomplished and/or what he needs to work on.
He got a lot of sweeps to connect, BUT he didn’t capitalize on it. He could’ve gone for deep cross ups so that her anti-air won’t connect. What I do is I empty jump and OS crouch tech into a combo or something.
He had Makoto in the corner but then jumped in which was a mistake; Should’ve kept her in there.
Maybe he should’ve stood his ground more; really jumpy and whatnot.
The Makoto backdashed A LOT, Mantis U1 punish right there.
Edit: Just want to share this excerpt I read from Seth’s “So You Want To Be A Dominator” written in '03 I think
"Most people, when sizing up the opposition, or evaluating how “good” someone is, see only the most superficial aspects of a player. You look for the obvious- some cinchy repeatable tactic you can steal- the big combos, etc. This helps explain why some punks are (idiotically) able to come away from watching even the best players, saying things like, “He just got lucky”, “I’ve seen better”, or (my favorite) “He didn’t do anything I couldn’t do/haven’t seen before.”
So sad. Saying things like this only proves how weak you really are…"
good advice for him but where is he to know that , i hate gen player got beaten so easily , you right about Beginners things and also he play against haitani (good makoto)
Both of you should have been AA’ing each other more. Chun can do it much better, without trading, and straight into her ultra. She has everything she needs to keep Gen out and win by playing lame.
Yeah, he looked clueless for the most part. You just got there and did your stuff and he kinda watched the whole time.
Glad you won though, wish your next opponent (in case it’s some kind of tournament) actually puts up a fight.
Some casual’s with Wolfkrone’s Viper and I. I totally enjoy getting raped by him, because I find out what works and what doesn’t as I don’t have pro viper experience. I’ve played maybe 1 other good Viper player in my life. I’ve played Flash Metriod but he played Ryu. Was kinda disappointed as he was easy to beat. Was more pumped to play his Viper which he never did.

So I’m still learning the match, and by the last two rounds I started to change up my strategy. I was backing off more to punish his burn kicks, and a really semi bad ken played him and beat him (who I ended up beating very easily). He was neutral jumping a lot to punish the burn kicks. So I scouted how Wolfkrone was playing vs that and it worked for the Ken. So I changed up my play and tried to use more of them. Wolfkrone uses a lot of jump-in burn kicks to get in sometimes. It’s hard to punish them as he can change the timing so I try to just block. There are a few times where it looks like I gave him a free jumpin and he hits me. That’s because I was trying to EX gekiro and I dunno wtf happened. Didn’t do the full input I guess.
ya I played his Dudley as well. Went 0-4 against him. But I felt I gave him a really good run. I made a few mistakes that costed me the match, and by the end of it, I was just going for broke because it was endless. Fun stuff though. We both played really good footsies.
