"Lay Hands on'em!" Gen Video Thread

i just try your idea against bison , after scizzor kick on guard you can just push him away but not hits i will upload some short videos.
against the other charcters it work in first time but after : Rufus has ex missiah kick , cammy cannon spike random beat all attacks, abel tornado throw ,guy his EX tatsumaki kicks

if the opponent see that a lot he’ll activate an ultra

and some good damage on bison

the point is that hands actually beats st.hk and cr.mk and scissors because it comes out faster. it will trade with cr.lk, but will also push bison away

if bison is close enough to hit you with a cr.short after you block the first scissors, the only downside to reversal fierce hands is predictability.

bison also has to think very carefully about using an ex psycho crusher after you have an ultra stocked. if he guesses with it and you dont do hands, you punnish with ultra

yeah as everything in this game it shouldnt be (ab)used all the time… just let your opponent be aware that you have that tool, and your not necessarily stay quiet sucking up all his block strings and mixups for the entire time (which is what i’ve always been doing, with poor results, against rufus/cammy/abel constant pressure)

considering that you can also fadc+followup or hit confirm into super with that… i haven’t been using that at all but i should start experimenting in real matches

you should try hitting KKK during hands when going for the FADC crane c.lk into mantis ultra! Just a tip!

Hi! Here are some of my scrubby play online trying to fool around with U2. I’m sure one of the videos will make you want to cringe but its good for a laugh anyways…

I watched the 3rd vid only, here are some points that jumped out for me:

 • Don’t do crane j.mk s.lp c.lk if he already blocked the s.lp. It serves as a hitconfirm and if you continue to do c.lk you can get countered with ease as it’s -7 on block.

 • you hit mk EX hands at some points, maybe combo into another mk hands for that little bit of extra damage anyway? Since you did ex already you might aswell.

 • Practice safe jumping, or watch your spacing and abuse the jump arc differences between the stances in order to get him to whiff his reversal after you land. Doing a feint lk oga works well too in order to get your opponent to do something.

 • Some general execution errors, you’ll probably be aware of them already like doing U2 too late after the mantis super and stuff like that. Why do you always do mk ex hands instead of just regular Hp hands though? seems like a waste of meter to do it every single time (especially without any follow up like sweep or mk hands)

Good game.

So after reading the tips warlike made, I realized that those are the same exact thing I have been doing.

I just got through practicing mk hands (piano). Intense stuff. I’ll definitely have to practice that more. I also worked on the crane j.mk crossup lp c.lk hit confirming on the lp. I think that will help me a lot as I have always been hitting c.lk no matter what and getting punished for it.

I’m not entirely sure how to use the jump arcs though, and I have no idea the timing on safe-jumps. That’s just more things to work on.

Overall I’m glad I’m finally cracking down on practicing Gen. I hope to get mk hands down, while keeping my c.mp hands alive as well. I’d love to get some videos up though. I’ll try asking some of my friends with cap-cards to record some. I feel good that I actually practiced. Good feelings make me smile :D.

Good stuff like always!

Little off-topic, but do you have any idea what’s the scene like in Rabat, Morocco? My friends are going there after christmas and I still can’t decide whether to go or not.

to MTS : you have someone there in morroco or you stay with your friend , if you go? thats a great opportunity to meet someone in the forum

Too add to these two points:

 1. Try using Crane j.MK, Mantis s.MP or c.LK etc etc after. Mix it up.

 2. If you do his MK EX hands, instead of following up with another MK hands. Use c.HP it adds a nice amount of damage and stun. I’ve yet to miss it on anyone, sweep is the one you need to be careful who you use it on. However, if you are hitting MK EX Hands at max range you won’t hit c.HP and I believe you won’t even his MK Hands after that. But if you are in close and do it, instead of doing nothing use c.HP.

I’ve been super tired from finals so my Gen game hasn’t been up to par. But here is a nice match vs a gouken. I lost but felt it was worth posting. There were two places that totally screwed me over. I was defending his pressure in the corner, and when I saw an opening when he was sweeping, I tried to EX Gekiro kick. Thanks to online, nothing came out and I just stood there. Then at the end I switched from Crane to Mantis to do another EX Gekiro kick, and same thing, I just stood there. Also my Teiga traded with his damn demon flip dive kick on reaction. He did a full screen EX flip and just as he was over me, I Tiger Knee’d Teiga and our hits traded. That pissed me off so hard. Anyways. Enjoy. I kept jumping away, my nerves are shot right now so I’m playing kind of chicken the first few matches of the day/night. This match was the first of the night.

hey messiah, dont let anyone tell you how to play gen. theres no need to explain your decisions to us. i just realised that there is no right or wrong way to play this character. so whatever your style is, just perfect it

im staying away from giving vid advice from now on. just remember to try and get the most out of your punnishes, and try not to get yourself into too many situations where you can get punnished

im totally agreed with mike

well it was the first game of the night and i felt like I was pretty on point after that. I didn’t dash back as much, nor jump back. I try to get the biggest punish out of the situation. Some people may say do more roll punishes, I try to but sometimes I’m not blocking long enough where I feel it’s safe to use Crane normals. So I’ll go to s.MP or s.HP to Gekiro. It’s simple and does more damage than trying to look fancy with c.LK, c.LP, s.MP, Gekiro. Might as well keep it simple.

That Gouken reset at 1:31 is pretty sick.

You were definately on point though, playing a good footsie game (gouken doesnt really have footsies at all) and being patient. Something I tend to do against Gouken is do a cross-up at a really obvious time so he will do his parry counter except I just jump and don’t actually cross-up, free combo. At 3:04 you get a free jump in combo, too bad you didn’t switch to mantis for a finishing combo or did a crane combo :frowning:

Great fight though, I like fighting Gouken.

Really interesting at 0:12, where your crane s.HP dodged his far s.MK. Too bad the Gouken guy pressed kick earlier than you so it traded with Ultra, since he definitely knew to stop spamming fireballs once you got it.

I hope KKK U2 gets some love in the hurtbox department and not just the speed department in AE.

And good job Messiah. You look a lot more patient in your newest vids. Keep it up!
