I mained El Fuerte in vanilla and I gotta say, if the player mixes up really well, its just a guessing game, and a tough one at that.
You-Cant jump in on elf, air grab, and uppercut kick grab, if he see’s you wakeup waterfall kick he can punish you anyway he wants.
I suppose most people dont realise, that if he does alot of slams, you can wakeup focus absorb and level 2 crumple him, and he doesnt have alot of health either.
Elfuerte likes to run free, so if you play good defense you can push him into a corner and stuff his attempts to get out.
I dont know what else to say, RSF punishes for up to 450ish damage, which is insane if you can do it, but its also hard to setup and do consistently. Just dont take the pressure too hard to mixup, because once you have him on the run (away) his mixup weakens
Messiah, I actually was pretty good at the mixup but I couldnt perform the 400+ damage RSF before I quit fuerte, and even more so, I quit him when I switched out of pad. I have a hard time doing quarter circles in certain directions still, something with how I hold the stick, ive only played stick for 4? months I think.
But also my terminology and understanding of the game is only exceeded by what Ive learned physically, while lacking certain things, like the bad habit to focus on the wrong situation ><
I could pull the pad out and get my muscle memory back and show you how he cant feel confident otherwise the mixup beats out guessing games…
ya i’m still in Vanilla Jump Arc mode. My last Ryu video I think shows a better handle on jumping to much. I still jumped twice when I shouldn’t have. But it’s better than what I’m used to doing.
elf can choose to land to either direction mid slam, so if you do use backdash to escape once he would try to land in the area between the start and end of the backdash.
For elf you may also want to wait to see which direction he chooses to slam from, he can do it from either direction, but if he chooses to ambiguous grab (dash towards, hp) it looks the same as slam, but in the opposite direction its a backflip type grab.
Pay attention to his habits of attack, his only strength in mixup is inconsistency. Find a slam to focus, crumple it and punish. But backdash or forward dash depending on his recent moves, consistent focus is met with ambiguous grabs instead.
The best kind of Elf player will read your escapes and fit his FA2 crumple into RSF when he know’s he can. 2 RSF’s are (probably) 800 some damage after scaling.
I cant do it though~ and Im workin on other characters.
It’s much better that you’re not jumping so much, now you just gotta learn to put some pressure on him. Gen’s got some good offense and defense. You got the defense pretty good but too often do you just sit there waiting for the other guy to do something. Mix it up and move around, watch the distance and start using those pokes I mentioned, make him scared to move and then you’ll have an even better offense so long as you don’t forget your defense.
Footsies is not complicated but at the same time is because you need to be very good at your spacing and knowing your enemies pokes. For instance a lot of ryu’s like to sweep or do c.mk to fireball, the idea in footsies is to barely step into that zone but immediately start walking backwards getting them to use that move, and then quickly punishing it with a poke of your own such as sweep.
Gen can be just as scary on the ground as in the air, make them want to move back to the corner or make them want to jump and just be ready to punish it with any of his amazing AA moves. Some matchups are tough and Ryu can be one of them because how good c.mk is, and Chun is a beotch to play footsies with and usually you’ll end up jumping, luckily crane j.hp is really good against most her AA options but it still should be avoided.
Um, ewww. That Gen never stops jumping, never stops oga’s and wakes up with gekiro everytime. He cant finish a normal Gekiro, nor do any form of hands that isn’t just mashed out after a focus attack, which is also stupid. Why post such a terrible Gen in here?
It would be different if you were the gen player asking for help etc. but they way it was posted, it felt like these videos were meant to be taken seriously. Which I can’t.
Who the hell uses fiercex5 to do hands? If he hadn’t been so retarded the rest of the time the lk gekiro during her super would have been inspired - get a trade into knockdown to avoid the full damage. Shame he didn’t mean it as that.
That Gen needs to switch to someone else. He’s giving us a bad name.
He is Gen players a bad name? Maybe you should think before you post next time because:
a) We do not know if the Gen player even knows that this was posted, or even recorded for that matter.
b) I guess you were a sick with Gen when you picked him up in the Alpha series immidately right? sarcasm
c) He is a nobody, so who gives a fuck.
a) what does him knowing if it was posted have to do with how badly he played (jump, jump, jump, jump, oga, repeat)?
b) what does my skill in a3 have to do with how I play SSFIV and in fact impact on how he is playing? If it was even a logical leap… also, you need not add sarcasm, I am an educated adult and can detect such sentiment. Clearly at nearly 6000BP he hasn’t just picked him up.
c) it was posted by an Ibuki player so clearly intended as inspiration for those that play Gen (he’s certainly not looking for criticism on a character he doesn’t even play). These videos are meant to be taken as serious fodder from which we are to take ideas. Do you think the Ibuki player came in expecting ‘oh, wow, you’re a sick Ibuki, taking down that AMAZING Gen player. He’s top of our tree and you just shot him down’?
You won at the football, why are you coming in in such a bad mood? >_<
What would you rather? I just come in and complain at others being just as confused as to why it was posted here at all?
{EDIT}
Holy crap, he actually wins the second game. Maybe I don’t jump enough.
Posting my first video of me playing but really not very well at all. I made a bunch of mistakes with some Oga charges and general reach but I am posting kind of a cool ending to the match. Thanks to Dodgers2213 for capturing this for me. Anyways here you go.
