I beat people with higher bp all the time, but PP is fairly decent measurement as it basically forces one to be successful against anyone and if you lose against lesser players you will drop significatnly.
I don’t know who you are and where you came from but do you have any videos of your Gen?
the dude i beat was culto80 hes a b rank with 7588 bp and hes utter garbage, all he does are crane cross up to crane low short, and oga gimmicks, and he gets mad if you punish the fuck outta him for it. How on earth did he get 7588 bp… who did he beat that many times lol…SCRUBBS beating scrubbs doesnt make you pro, it just makes you less scrubb. so im sorry to say but…
na boss bp really doesnt matter . net play is really good for exposure and seeing what characters can do, but as far as overall competitive use, it doesnt really have any. I wont go into the vast number of differences there are between on line and off line play but i will say that they are 2 completely different games. The only way to judge skill is through off line tournaments.
Gen’s a bit of a bad example for a character since he gets free wins on most players online in SSF4 because they don’t know the matchup or even his specials a lot of the time >.>, at least from my experience.
I know that there is a world of difference between offline and online, and I fully agree on all points made. I just pointed out that I think PP is a decentish measure, it is by no means a certainty that someone with high pp is very good or anything but grinding your way up while maintaining high PP is not easy for most people. Then again ‘most’ people are not very good anyway online.
Nice fights, you play a solid Gen. One thing I noticed though is that you do alot of focus attacks. Your opponents weren’t good enough to capitalize on them but if you overdo them you can get punished real bad. But other than that I think you did well, solid hand bnb combos, nice use of Oga etc.
EDIT: instead of crane j.mk>s.lp>c.lk> mantis c.hk, this one does slightly more damage I believe: j.mk>s.lp>c.lk> mantis c.hp. Not much but still, Gen needs all the damage he can get.
Hello everyone, I found yet another useless trick with Gen, this time it’s a cross up with his mantis ultra 1. Do a throw while holding back and wait until you see your opponent begin to rise. The moment your opponent moves to get up, activate your ultra which will result in a cross up.
I find it useless because the moment people catch on to this your only going to get punished for it. But it is not hard to do and the timing is the same on all characters excluding Sagat.
Just now noticed this about previous posts. PP =/= BP
BP does not go down, yet it is represented with the letter grade. PP does go down.
PP can show the potential, BP can show perseverance.
Edit: Also, when messing with j.mk>s.lp>c.lk> mantis c.hp I saw that j.mk>s.lp>c.lk> mantis s.hk does more damage than the previous. ^ does 194 ^ does 201
Both on Blanka, and idk where he stands defense wise. If that’s even a thing in sf.
I usually go for efficiency. So, as I do try to look for the most damaging combos, I think it’s important to take follow up options into consideration. Unless the damage difference between two combos is huge, I usually value a knockdown over most things.
Yeah Crane combos and the last hit switch to mantis, thought that was obvious sorry for not making that clear.
And yeah resets can be great, you should definately implement them into your game, you can basically do anything after the Oga reset, s.mp mk hands, hp > hp(on some chars lk) gekiro, or simply mash out hands (scrubtastic!).
