"Lay Hands on'em!" Gen Video Thread

Yo gen just dropped from the ceiling like those anvils off of looney tunes. I’m not seeing things am I? Also looked like he’s not so negative on block, maybe because he falls to the ground faster.

Even if gen doesn’t have mk-hands, he’ll probably still have low forward or low strong buffering properties. Wouldn’t have as much reach and would be slower, but lets be honest… mk>hands is broke. His focus attack does the same thing except slower but doesn’t cost any meter to advance. There’s still good options off of close strong hit confirm, like mantis low strong > roll, or fierce > hands or maybe ex-hands after fierce to keep them close then sweep.

^Gen is looking good, that Gen still wasn’t the greatest and left alot of good moves out, but its interesting. I like that new jump and the Gekiro. That kick super hits full screen too, looks sick!

so much good info being passed around hear, good job guys keep it up, coming from ken masters to gen masters

His dash and overhead look much faster too.

As far as the jump changes, it seems he’s in the air the same amount of time but the higher arch would effect the angle of the moves. The height could make certain situations more managable. It might also have something to do with his air ultra. Could you imagine trying to A2A ultra Bison’s high jump arch with Gen’s old jump?

Then again, I don’t know if you have to be in a certain stance to do the it. It’s probable you’d have to be in crane. Both jumps look the same other than the heighth.

Jump back A2A ultra would be interesting to see also. Oh and versus Abel’s command throw.

Gettin’ all these ideas…

I don’t think Gen is nerfed, just tweaked/adjusted. He might have an even more enjoyable feel this time around.

True about the corner, but its really not detrimental to do it anyways. Just something i had just tested to maybe keep in mind.

Just training mode’d this, Mp works well against any limb that hits at the waist or higher(st.mp, st.mk. st.lp) However it will whiff against the lower attacks, the hitbox is just too high. Hp works well against every limb, however the recovery might not be the best. St.lk, will work if you’re in his st.lk range, however doesn’t work well against the attacks above the waist and doesn’t combo full screen(because of hitstun) so be carefull. Cr.mp look like it completely owns dhalsim’s st.mk, it’ll often make it whiff and rarely trades. Overall though mp looks like it might be the go to button, while still keeping hp and cr.mp in mind.

Yeah, i was more implementing the kara focus as a way to focus dash his limbs and gain a little more ground while doing so. But in the same way gen’s focus is so good, his dash already covers tons of range so it may be redundant.

I think that the jump is slower, 20% at least.

I dont know how to use any video editor but with one we can see the time that gen is in the air in both games.

the Crane Ultra looks yummy

Yo guys, i got a video for anyone whos interested in to watch.

Resets, combo’s and mix up’s sorta thing … which i reckon will be the way to play gen in super but ofcourse i wont know untill i get the game lolz. Anyways, to anyone who watches it i hope you enjoy :).

Im guessing thats pretty much the jist of it besides mk-hands. It’ll be intresting to say the least. Either way I’m sticking it out with Gen.

Dhalsim: Fuck dat Nigga

Yeb vs. Filipino Champ again

F*#%, I thought Yeb had him, it only showed two diff matches and that ended in a tie. I liked what I saw of Yebs new tricks up his sleeve. I thought you should have at least tried to Oga that punk and I didnt see any Gekiros :frowning:

Still though Yeb, that Dhalsim looks just annoying to get in on that punk. That was intense. I can tell you are putting in work and you need to keep at it cause your work is gonna pay off man trust me. Any other matches out there of the WCW:2?

Oh yea Yeb I just had an idea to for a new mixup. Maybe you could chase Sim down when he keeps back dashing with a roll. Its faster than walking and could potentially do some dmg. I imagine he prob would only let you do it once, but he won’t feel so safe when he runs away

The roll is too slow. It has little to no use outside of combos, or as an EX to go through FBs at close range. Using it to chase someone is just asking to get killed.

I find the light roll useful in some matchups for poking, because its fast and has range, all the others tho…

Yea I used to until people started FAing it. :frowning:

The thing is if you’re close enough to get the multi-hit from it (to beat FA), then you may as well use mk xx hands instead. I really don’t find much use for it anymore.

Ye, Ive never met anyone who focused it lol :stuck_out_tongue: so good point, just used it some times(very rare tbh :P) when no one is going for the attack, with the occasional footsy and poking war to get some range, but true, if people focus it its lame :stuck_out_tongue: and I ye, I never used it close, just so I can hit it with the edge of the hitbox because he leans back afterwards so they cant punish it, tho I dont know the frames on block tbh.

Damn, good match.

First time i watched that 2nd match against filip champ. Good shit Yeb, I would of done a couple different option selects though when you knocked Sim down like instead of trying for a crossup I woulda walked up and grabbed. But great match. Very good shit bud.

hey gen players!
for the last two months i have been working on recording first to ten sets with strong players of each character against my gouken and posting them on my youtube channel.
this is mainly a project to improve my own game but i also add commentary to help players unfamiliar with gouken or his matchups.
this is the set i had with BXCR’s gen:

Why does that Gen fight 90% of the time in crane mode? He uses c.lk way too much even though its very negative on block for gen…

Some (probably final) vanilla videos, from a tourney last night:

It starts with the top 8, you can skip ahead to see more of my matches. Nemo and especially ShadyK both have a ton of experience against me. There were a couple more matches streamed earlier in the tourney and you can find them if you check the archives, but this was my first tourney playing on Japanese sticks and I was still getting warmed up in those matches.
