Well, you said “broken”. Lariat’s not broken. That would imply that fighting a Zangief is useless.

Lariat’s just too good, for all the reasons listed in this thread by other users. It becomes even better when the fighter has to rely entirely on pokes or throws, like Abel or Bison; it’s a free shutdown.

Show me some top ranked giefs like Itabashi throwing out lariat like its an overpowered move like everyone with 0 common sense seems to think.

Cant believe another character would have to rely on poking and throwing…in STREETFIGHTER?! What is the world coming to? Also bison is not a free match for gief

I just wish they would allow his 360 slams to be comboed. such as LP -> 360 slam. I think that would make him even more lethal since he has ok ground control.

the lariat is a beast with a good poke game. It can also be used for a wake up game. I understand why abel and bison you consider as a free shutdown but it really depends on the player.

he doesnt even beat abel because of lariat. he beats abel because for the most part (since you all seem to wanna simplify everything down with gief), gief can hold forward and hit jab and strong and shut down like EVERYTHING abel can do. the lariat just makes sure he doesnt jump.

Actually it’s useful BECAUSE it stays out for such a short period of time.

As for his PD: he used to be able to combo into it, in ‘IV’ he cannot. Yet it seems to have this inexplicable ‘quality’ of being able to pull you out combos without an ounce of timing, only n00bish stick twirling and button mashing. This is up-chuck. This is :lame:

He should be able to combo into PDs and they should have their old range(s) back. As a trade-off however, they MUST have less priority. At least, this is what has to happen if I’m to ever use him again.

again i do hate to be the one to reiterrate this . . . ‘the lariat does not hit every single crouching character in this game’, period. Every SPD range is good as is . . . except for the super which has terrible range but just leave that be as well, for those who gets caught with it . . . too bad there goes a great amount of hp hahahahaha. Seriously though.

Whoever says kkk lariat is useless . . . well, i suggest you stop using Gief cuz it seems to me like you don’t know how to. I stopped using shotos cause i totally lost the touch of how to use them. I seriously dont’ know how to use shotos anymore. I was pretty good with CvS2’s Shin Akuma but eh . . . that was the last time I used a shoto.

kick lariat is there as a psychic dp ish kind of move where it stuffs any ground attacks but if they dont throw something out you’re getting punished. cant believe people are saying kick lariat is useless. shows how little people play gief

something like scorpion’s spear. getting tired of chasing people around. seth has something like it why can’t gief and he also has a SPD. or a new EX lariat that sucks people in like rufus’s EX tornado galaxy. change lariat to 2 button and the EX would be 3 button.
