Moved to FGD since this does have “fighting games” in the title (and nobody talks about that shit in GD).
That said, as more than a few people have stated, the FGC is one of the most diverse gaming communities around. All that really mattered was that you could hold your own in the game. Yes, there’s a ton of shit talk, but guess what, we shit talk on everyone. It’s all stems from the genre’s competitive arcade roots. But just because people talk shit doesn’t mean that there isn’t respect, it just has to be earned through playing the game.
LOL. If your life revolves around debating the presence of women in gaming communities, you clearly are doing nothing with your time on this planet. Only in america do we uproar about stupid shit like this, meanwhile some 14 year old in India is about to have sex for the first time through prostitution just so she can feed her family. The fact that we even have acronyms for our “first world problems” is already astonishing. Do women in the Congo even know what SJW stands for? I doubt it. LOL.
Gamers are so pathetic sometimes, its sad. What a pathetic existence for many of them. SMH
Fuck outta here!
I’m sure this is a troll thread, but thats even worse. What kinda loser does this. Yuck
How many years is that to be exact? For how many years have you attended Evo or a major tournament and which place did you get? We need to know all of the necessary details so that your post may be properly addressed.
To be honest, as a fighting game opponent, sex and gender are both meaningless, skill is what matters. What makes the Fighting Game Community better than other communities is that anybody can enter a tournament, regardless of your skill level and sex/gender. Perhaps you do not find any male opponents to be worthy because you are subconsciously biased against or have some form of hatred against men and as such are not aware of it.
I don’t know who you have met, but you shouldn’t base your limited infinitesimal experiences on the entire community. The above statement sounds very offensive to females that are passionate and dedicated to fighting games.
Same as my experiences against men. I come from an arcade background and the way things work, you put your coin on the arcade machine as your “next” and then when it’s your time you give it everything you got to stay on the machine, regardless if you’re male or female.
Your knowledge and experiences are very limited and some of your posts like saying that the women you encountered aren’t as passionate and dedicated to fighting games sound very misogynistic.
I recommend that you bring yourself up to date on the fighting game community before you continue making threads that spread misinformation.
I’m almost certain this is an edited copypasta thread topic from /v/ or /b/
It’s just about retarded enough to have been from either.
Anyway, gonna have to call bullshit, despite how I know this is a troll. I went to the last Season’s Beatings a few years ago. All the FGC fatcats were there. Wong, PRBalrog, all those guys. I stayed the entirety of all 3 days of the tournament. I did not see a single woman competing in any game. Not one. There were plenty of women around make no mistake. Not a single one ever held a controller.
I just dont know how you can have all these female fighting game players to claim to have played, when I went to what was essentially a major, and didnt see one. Fuck dude I think I even seen Duckie there to boot. Guy came all the way to Ohio just to fucking mod sticks. Brandishing an eye patch with a pair of striped pantsu on his head.
^The thing is, there are female players, but it just depends on where you are and how hard you have to look.
When I when to SoCal Regionals, I saw three female players (there could of be more that I happen to miss maybe). One being Sherry, a Sakura player (also cos-play as her), and a Marvel player whose name I happen to forget, but she reminds of the girl in the Wendy’s ads.
As for this thread, a bunch of bullocks. In fact, any thread that tries calling us out on the “problems” we have is full of shit.
What I love about stuff like this is that it implies there are thousands of women just wanting to show up to tournaments but we scare the shit out of them. Believe me, if thousands of women suddenly showed up to Evo, we’d be way more freaked out about it than they would.
I hop eyou realize that some of our best players are black, gay, brazillian, hispanic and shit right? If i remember corectly, Kayane was also a champion at Soul Calibur.
Shit people are surprised when white people win fighting game tournaments, because they suck. What demographics are we excluding again?
I’mma just… say my two cents, being one of the actual and few female posters on this godforsaken forum. When it comes to females, tournaments, FGC, gaming in general, respect is a give and take thing. Just cause you’re a dude doesn’t mean you get props out the door. You have to have skill to get that sort of recognition in any thing you do. Females have it harder, but, it’s still possible.
I’d rather play Pokemon than deal with FG fegs at tourneys. You guys smell.
I’ll bring the Fabreeze and a spray bottle.
