I agree but I think that sexism in gaming mostly comes in a benevolent form, which is actually worse because it is not condemned. For example a female player getting sponsored FOR being female, while male players who are way better at her at the games don’t get sponsored. That implies that women are inferior, so it’s a “big thing” when a woman reaches a decent level at a videogame. Also women who stream videogames with cleavage and get followings and donations, while male gamers need to work really hard to earn a similar position. So a man’s value comes from his wits and skills but a woman’s value comes from her sexual organs? I remember it was being pointed out in UltraChen.TV but they purposely avoided discussing it further.

That makes sense, but I’m not saying that the FGC should force our hobby onto women that may or may not become interested in fighting games, but the whole point is to help the FGC to grow and become more inclusive to the various demographics. Yes, we’ve come a long way in that regard already, but from what I’ve seen on many vids and tourneys, we still need to improve in that regard. Allow women to become introduced to, if they haven’t already, to our community and if they choose, become a part of our community. That is something I know is worth pushing for, but I do respect your opinion on the matter.

Now hold your horses here. You have to understand what you are implying. Your saying that objectification of a minority exclusively is an FGC thing. Which absolutely is not. Put 3 women in a room with 3-500 men doing anything other than playing a fighting game and the tone is going to be the same. Shift that away from gender and put 3 brothers in a room with 500 Caucasians again similar tone. Also you have to understand amongst the small minority of female players in the FGC there’s been problems with some coming around who revel in being objectified and are looking to be put up on a pedestal by the abundance of socially awkwad and thirsty guys who frequent our events.
This is where your dead wrong. If you want to help the FGC get more exposure put out content, or even better yet sponsor some female players so they can get practice and exposure, but it is not your right to influence anyone to do anything. If they see it and they like it they are welcome but no one’s hobby is better than anyone else’s, there’s no need to try and pull anyone away from what they have going on.
I had played basketball with some decent 6’2 females. They were good, me being 5’10, these girls can dribble and run to the hole. I had problems guarding them because of the thin booty shorts these girls wore, I would get erection from guarding up close. In the long run, I beat both of these girls because of my cross ups and mix ups were too fast and nasty. I think girls should be in the NBA

There. Some more opinions. What good does it do you? FG’s are objective, you win or you lose. It’s not like game development where you might create a game that some people love and others hate. It’s 100% you win or you lose.
So in a situation where a woman trains and enters a tourny, what room is there for her to cry misogyny? I’m sure one will discover a way, but I’m also sure that it will be dealt with properly. We shit talk everyone, so that’s a moot issue. We don’t allow harassment in the community, so I don’t think the type of bait and bite back victimization strategy is going to work here. If anything, I’d LOVE to see some more women get into the scene. But there really aren’t handicaps in this type of competition. You can’t come into it and say “that’s not fair because…” and expect anyone to take you seriously.

Your second point, I definitely see in hindsight. There are varying degrees of objectification afoot that exist both within and outside of the FGC that are quite disturbing, especially when taking into account of things that have dominated the media (Ferguson, MO, ISIS, etc.), and I was merely focusing my personal experiences and observations from sectors of the FGC regarding this issue. If I came off as a bit hasty in expressing my point, then apologies all around. Now, I wasn’t trying to proclaim any hobby to be superior to any other, and if that’s what it comes off as, then my bad for causing such a misunderstanding. The main point was to bring attention to plight of the many female members of the FGC and beyond.
