I can see why the dood gl0ry was talking to said Judo was best…it seems like if you don’t sidestep that gut punch, you’re screwed and will probably eat 2 chain throws. So you always have to watch out for that, and not get normal thrown either. Crazy how things seem to turn around at high level, where as it seems like JD is playing defense against everyone else at low level. IMO.
Plus that gut punch has different variants too, iirc. And JD also gets a forward ring out throw. Dang.
To Galz, I will definitely play Kwon Ho, I barely got to play cause the times in the closed beta were work hours, on top of bad pings for living on an island.
Now, to the off topic point. I’m sure you got future games in the works, but would there ever be a chance of this type of game, but sprite based 2D? It seems like an online 2D fighter set up like Kwon Ho would be great, especially applying patch’s to fix broken characters, infinites, etc… when they were found out.
Just dreaming, but damn if that wouldn’t be the shit if done proper.
I think 2D “MMO” fighter wouldn’t work too well. First of all, making customizable sprites and keeping them to look good is pretty difficult.
Besides that lag does affect 2d fighters more than 3d fighters. Since 2d fighters need extremely tight timing for combo’s and such, while 3d fighters genereally are based on anticipation. And if you take a lag of a coupla milliseconds into account in your anticipation, there isn’t much to worry about.
Besides that I would imagine that they chose for the virtua fighter set-up so the combo’s would be minimal, and it was mostly about mindgames. Because that is 1. Easier to do considering the Lag 2. Less chance of becoming broken as hell.
Now a 2D fighter is going to be heavily combo based, and being able to upgrade parts of these combo’s is automatically gonna yield infinites or near infinites. So I’m really not sure how well this would work.
If they keep it simple with a good netcode, could be good. Znes runs well and its emulated. I’m not asking for GG or SF3 graphics, just a fair 2d fighter. Probably won’t happen, but I’ve had Kailera and Zsnes work decent emulated. Dedicated code minus the emulation would seem to be possible.
I’m no programmer, but the potential could be hot if done right.
Again, just a pipe dream, but damn if it doesn’t sound like a possibility that would make me a happy man.
I’d say it depends on how popular KwonHo becomes, the more popular it is the more care it’ll get from devs. Whichever game has devs that CARE about the community will be king. Nothings better than a constantly updated game based on the needs of the community.
Regardless if VF has online play or not I doubt the online matchmaking will rival kwonho. That’s what really makes the game shine, the awesome matchmaking and online team modes that are available.
Someone just let me know (via AIM preferably since I rarely check SRK) when kwonho is up and running. I have a Fansite/Forum in preparation for when the launch occurs.
