Hello,

You may or may not have heard, but a new fighting game is coming:

KwonHo: Fist of Heroes @ ijji.com!

Basically, it’s a 3D fighting game played exclusively online on PC. What makes it different is that there are no pre-made characters that you choose; all characters are created from scratch by the user. You pick the gender, appearance, and fighting style of your character, then find other ppl to beat down.

Also, KwonHo has RPG elements. You start at Level 1, and can level up. As you level up, you get access to new moves and clothing items. You can also upgrade your basic attributes like attack and defense, and also upgrade individual skills.

I know I scared some ppl with that last paragraph :lol:, but it’s really not that bad. You won’t be buffing up standing punch to god level and destroying ppl with five punches. There are limits. No matter how strong you are, you still have to play!! The upgrades are more about tuning your character to match your playstyle and tactics.

Also: The game is FREE to download and play.

We also have events and other things planned as we move forward. It’ll be fun.

This version of KwonHo is a closed beta, which means 1. It’s a beta, it’s missing a few features and we’re working out some stability issues. And 2. Closed means it’s only open from 3PM-8PM Pacific Time. If there are a lot of users, we might open it 24 hours, so stay tuned.

I just watched the TKO video and that had me interested,lol.

Too bad I’m on a laptop that most likely can’t handle this. Add to the fact I don’t have anything decent to play it with…

Might pick up a controller for this comp this weekend tho’, if this comp can handle it. Any suggestion for a good/incredible PC Pad? The 360-esque ones any good?

Also the minimum sys requirements are:
P3 1Ghz
128 Ram
Geforce2MX

On my rig 2.8Ghz, 512 Ram, onboard Video, it looks like TTT PS2, on a better machine it looks like hi res T5 PS2, but without the terrain doodads.

Also, you should have:

Good Fast Connection
Nice friendly router

U might need to forward ports. or DMZ even while we go through the beta process.

Controller wise, The $20 Logitech usb pad is cool. U can use a 360 controller or a DOA stick =) but it’s a little tricky…check the FAQ in the help section. Default is keyboard, which sounds sucky, but I’ve seen some ridiculous stuff by doods who use keyboard, so I won’t judge.

I had always wanted to have some sort of game like this, though in my dreams it was weapon based, and maybe 2d somehow i dunno. If this thing executes well it could be hellasweet.

Yeah, all I’m really asking for is for people to try it out and level up a bit. Not everyone’s gonna like it at first. Honestly, when I first played it, I didn’t like it much. But the gameplay is simple and legit. It hella grew on me when I realized some of the advanced stuff the developer put in.

infinites? I quit gunz because people kept using the dagger trick… and lots of connection problems.

otherwise I’m looking forward to giving this a shot.

The lag depends more on both ppl’s connections. It’s P2P, so we’re really interested in the success rate, given ppl’s different network setups.

Those Tai Chi combos that were posted seem rather weak compared to what everyone else has <.<

Yeah, the Tai Chi combos are pretty sorry. It’s more about being tricky. High level Tai Chi has wiCKed stuff though.

LOL tiers? I would say TKD and Muay Thai are best to start, but after that everthing begins to even out a little. The further u go, the more ridiculous the combos become. I would say Judo will always be toughest to use because it has so few canned strings and it relies on throws the most. But even Judo gets some sick shit.

Closed Beta for ijji.com’s purposes means that it’s closed during certain hours.

Agreed. It really depends on the popularity and number of users though. The more users there are, the more features get added.

It’s like packaged games or movies for example. Don’t expect a sequel if the first one made no money.

The advantage for KwonHo is that it’s a PC game that gets patched, so we can make more radical changes if we want to.
