@wazwuz Are you going to be releasing a similar kit for the Crown 309Helpme lever? I have that stick in my other case and would like to be able to tweak it like I was able to with the Fanta with this kit. If it’s coming soon I’d like to be added to the waiting list please. Let me know ok? I’ll prob send you a DM as well. Thanks.
I’m very new here want to ask some question. Now I have a Sanwa JLF joystick can I put a spring with high tension than a stock and put a Battop instead of Balltop to get a ‘‘close’’ feeling to a Korean stick? (The feeling I mean is it go back to neutral faster than a stock Sanwa JLF)
Yes. I still waiting my 309mj to arrived. I will make about 20set for first batch. I will write your name on the order list.
Technically yes it will back to neutral faster using heavier spring.
But it won’t fell anywhere near fanta. They are completely different construction.
Spring use mechanical load for tension, elastomer grommets use material load for tension.
Many thanks for replying. I have a plan changing the Sanwa to Korean stick. It seems like with my own Sanwa can fit with a Crown 309MJ Stick without modding (Even though I want to try a Myoungshin Fanta but It’s required a modding). How does the feeling of Crown 309MJ compare to a Myoungshin Fanta? I have read some information from focusattack.com they said the crown 309MJ is closest attempt to mimic the popular Myoungshin Fanta Joystick. Is it true?
very true i have used fanta’s for years and have tried alot of earlier crown variants 303n,fk,307 ect along the way im currently using the 309mj 25g grommit and it feels close to a standard fanta although im using a 303 collar on it witch is bigger that the standard collar that comes with the 309mj
There is no such thing as 25 “g” ( g = grams) Crown grommets. I don’t know where people got that weird idea from. Officially, Crown silicone grommets, from softest to hardest, all weigh around 20g (20 grams) according to IST solutions, weight is completely irrelevant by the way for gaming it serves only for shipping purposes.
It’s the shore hardness that counts, which is 25shoreA (written as “25A” in short) for the M/MJ, 35A for both Helpme versions, and 55A for the infamous 307.
@Khrys
JLF +stiffer spring + battop = partial emulation of JLW (discontinued) , but in no case of a korean lever. For even better emulation of JLW, use an oversized jlf actuator to shorten throw.
By the way, not all korean levers are stiff, some recent versions have very soft grommets and some mods include not so stiff switches too.
@Rokwho and @Agieze Thanks for replying. It seems like a Crown 309MJ have a feeling close to Myoungshin fanta. Right? Now I wonder Is that a short or big collar will effect the feeling of the crown lever? Since Crown 309 have 309Helpme-K-JMS model (came with a big collar that can’t replace to my Sanwa stick) and 309MJ - JMS (came with a small collar that can replace my Sanwa Stick).
The 309 models are more restricted than the Myoungshin lever by design, and the different grommet shapes result in different feel. But, the 309mj and 309Helpme are extremely similar. The chopped collar works very well, and the 309 is going to be easier to adjust to coming from Japanese joysticks.
yeah i would just try the mj first as you would not need to mod anything then just learn the stick when your comfortable with it move on to a fanta if you need to
Which retailers? That is not true. Only a very small handful of retailers such as arcadeworlduk use incorrect info such as “25 gram tension”. 25grams of “tension” , if it were true, would not be able to center the shaft at all, just think about it for a minute. A grommet is placed in the pivoting point, not on the extremities of the shaft (where for example microswitches with lower force would be able to recenter the shaft , due to lever effect).
The shop simply copied that mistake from who knows where, nothing new, those shops rarely verify the info they find.
All other retailers use 25shoreA/25A HARDNESS which is correct.
Go on makestick’s site, on “lever parts” and read the info for Crown grommets, it has weight on one side , then the different hardness ratings for each grommet.
Shore hardness being just a notion of how difficult /easy it is to penetrate the elastomer with a round hard probe, resilience which is more relevant is not specified, but assumed by the company to be somehow relative to the shore hardness . Someone, one day, just made a mistake and wrote g instead of A. End of story.
Lol, I never actually thought about that but there is no issue confusing G with A if we all know what your talking about. Someone just needs to email arcadeworlduk.
@“Khrys”, is it possible to mod your stick? What stick do you own? Ihear that you want to imitate the Myoungshin, so I thought I’d ask. You might be able to revert your stick back to stock depending on what stick you own. To put a Myoungshin into a case is in theory not that much harder than a 309MJ. Tek-Innovations could cut you a 35mm wide hole for a Myoungshin and you could use a step drill and some cutting fluid to get the metal panel to fit the joystick. This will allow you to use literally every Korean joystick provided you have a kowal plate. I don’t really think you want to use the 309MJ, but I think your trying to compromise.
Thinking about it, the source of the confusion seems clear: custom springs for japanese joysticks are rated in lbs-force or gram-force (I think it is at 1/2 spring length) , or just in pounds or grams to make it simpler for the customers.
Concerning korean lever grommets, some people recently mixed it up and decided to erroneously replace shore hardness (A range) by “grams”, thinking probably about those custom springs. what else could it be.
I have a question regarding modding a Myoung Fanta.
I’d like to use the PhreakMods Link in my Korean stick. Would it be viable to mod the stick with a JLF shaft/the Link and install a bat top for a similar feel, or would it affect the use too much?
You can’t install a JLF shaft on a Fanta, that only exists for the Crown stick. The Golden Fanta mod has shafts but those are modeled after the Fanta shaft. I’m about 100% sure that the JLF Link won’t fit on the Fanta stick but it may on the Crown, I’d have to try it out to tell. Someone correct me if I’m wrong. Thanks.
