Korean arcade parts discussion

So at the mention of someone on here, I took the 309 HelpMe out and put the Fanta in but swapped the Gersung on the Fanta for the Panasonics of a Crown.I like this setup much better than a stock 309 HelpMe. It feels like the stick returns to neutral much quicker. I’m assuming this is because of the higher shore rating of the grommet on the Fanta. Anyway to anyone wondering if that person that posted that was honest, he was right. Tracking says I’ll be getting the Golden Fanta mod on Monday and I can’t wait to try out the different configs for that. I’ll keep ya posted! L8r g8rs!

BTW, what’s so good about a Taeyoung Fanta? Isn’t it just a Myoungshin Fanta with soft rubber in it? which you can buy on etokki as well no?

I believe it’s harder my friend, but I’m going based on things I’ve read. Never owned one myself :expressionless:

"First introduced in the late 90’s, Taeyoung Fanta stick is the original Fanta stick that started the whole Korean stick craze.

Widely used for games like Tekken and Street Fighter, Taeyoung Fanta sticks are known for their accuracy, consistency, high quality, and durability that still holds true to this date.

Each joystick comes equipped with high quality Gersung microswitches and a matte-finish BLACK bat-top handle.

Taeyoung Fanta sticks are equipped with soft tension rubber."

Etokki.com description which I pasted says “soft tension rubber”.

I got a saulabi in korea with a Taeyoung installed and it was insanely stiff, it was nothing like the crown sticks that I was accustomed to using on the noir cabinets

That’s what I’ve always heard. Which is why I figured the Myoungshin was more appealing versus the Taeyoung. Maybe the Taeyoung isn’t so bad in a cabinet because it’s stationary. But in a lighter case not as appealing.

edit: So they’re coming back out from being discontinued, but updated with softer rubber. Which makes sense now. The OG one is the one I’m thinking of

@“VarmintBaby”, I think this is a new type of Taeyoung. They used to sell one a while ago that i’m sure had a harder stiffness. This new joystick is probably a softer version, warranting the change as something to put in the description, considering its listed as a feature(Crowns aren’t advertised as soft).http://www.etokki.com/Joysticks/Taeyoung-Fanta-Stick-Black Theres also this from the very first page of this thread.

Could somebody please review this new taeyoung compared to the older one. I don’t know if there are any changes because there are no other pictures but i’m still curious. @wazwuz, do you think the golden fanta mod would work with the taeyoung? I’m sure that someone has said that there are minor differences in the construction of the grommet other than the tension tho.

IDK, but it seems they have the same base as myungshin

It’s not the same base, its slightly slimmer and the bat-top also has a smaller diameter. These differences are literally only to the millimeter or less, but something to note.

The matte bat-top should be fun. I wonder how it compares to the Sanwa or Fujin bat-tops.

If i can use a Sanwa shaft on a Myoungshin (possibly Taeyoung too), does that mean that a Myoungshin/Taeyoung shaft would fit inside a Sanwa. If it would fit, would I still retain the use of a shaft cover?

I just test fit a myoungshin shaft on a jlf body and compared to a regular jlf. The fantasy shaft seemed to stick out a hair longer. My question is why would you want to go that route?

I wont quote a price since i had to send in my plexi and it was EJM’s first time doing this plexi. Infact i ordered 3 plexis total. But i will say the price was VERY fair and the end product was awesome. PM EJM

Here is his thread in the trading outlet, he makes plexi sticks but will take on other tasks too.

You may have to send in your plexi since its a different configuration. If your happy with the clear 8 button setup you can always take the cp off and use a dremmel to open up the button holes. Thats what i did before i found EJM. If you keep the plexi attached the the meal panel you can use the metal panel as a guide, took me maybe 10 mins total.

Smooth bat-top JLF. The only bat-top that fits correctly is the clear version. All the rest are designed for JLW. A Fanta bat-top would in theory, just be a clear bat-top in black, that doesn’t unscrew easily.

@wazwuz, what are the differences between using a standard JLF shaft and the golden Fanta shaft. Isn’t it just the length of the shaft?

Ah gotcha. I always used the battop off of old injustice sticks.
Forgot I took pictures when I did test fit fantastic shaft in a jlf. That felt so weird to me possibly due to no switches/optical on that jlf.

Do you guys know if they will ever stock the etokki Omni stick for PS4/PC?

I’m looking for a stock stick without mods.

I had a Korean stick (the wooden one I think with a myongshin stick) back in the tekken 5 days.

Also ordered a taeyoung stick mod that ended up being way to stiff compared to what I tried in the Korean arcades (2004).

You could always send laugh an email. Usually you have to wait a while for stock. Half the stuff on the website is out of stock.

Better off buying a used one.

I received my Golden Fanta kit today. Thanks @wazwuz ! I think I’m going to try out the ‘green lever’ setup and go from there.

I think that’s not possible with this set of Golden Fanta the smallest shaft is 8mm the Green is 7mm & the smallest actuator is 15.5mm the green is 13 or 14.75mm.

I’m basing it on this
