I will include screwdriver slot for retail version. It is a bit time consuming proccess, but I will try it.
Totally make sense, with bigger deadzones= more neutral zone, so we can input next neighborhood input faster.
So here is the trade off:
Long throw will make opposite input slower (like right then to left) since the stick will travel more distance in neutral zone (not good for charge char like guile), but it will make the neigbor input (right then down/up) much faster because the neutral zone is wider, just release the stick a bit and you get neutral state then ready for next input (this is will benefit wavedash and backdash in tekken)
Short throw is done the opposite, negibor input will need more travel distance, opposite input less distance, plus the diagonal input is easier to hit.
Thank you for making this short video, help me understanding how the parts perform. Btw I like how you perform that super fast wavedash (2 player side), it was very intimidating :lol
@wazwuz Oh man if you think my wavedash is intimidating, you should see @âkodee vuâ do his. Itâs crazy! Lol
Yeah, even with this setup, I am able to do Bryan Furyâs Taunt Jet Upper consistently. Which requires you to do a forward, then back + right punch, in under 2 frames for it to hit on the opponents guard. Thatâs where the Korean Grommet design truly shines.
@wazwuz I was able to do Heihachi OTGF and Hwoarang JFSR with a good degree of control. The inputs from f, d/f are very strict. This is definitely the setup I will stick with. Not gonna change a thing. Lolol
@Call2Arms , I was tekken player too, beside timing I know that moves need high precision, if you hit D before DF it wonât came out. So I consider you can hit diagonal without problems.
now the questions is, did the golden Fanta setup help you achieve it more consistent?, or you execution skill is just too good  .
We need second opinion for this, anyone can help to test this setup and give their thought?
@wazwuz I wouldnât say my execution is godlike, but my friends do know me for having enough skill to do âdifficultâ things fairly quickly with clean inputsâŚ
I wanted a stick that had the Myoungshin feel, and the consistency of a Crown 309. The tension on the 309 has a unique feel to it, which is not at all a bad thing, but a Myoungshinâs grommet and housing has a smooth feel to it. But the 309âs cleanliness of input and throw range make me feel like I am in full control of everything I do. When I am in the correct position near the collar, I donât have to worry about random inputs.
With that setup I have the best of both worlds. Smooth action, precise inputs, and the ability to âfloatâ the stick in a position where neighboring inputs are just fast. I canât say that it made it easier, but it gave me a more manageable degree of control.
Actually come to think of it I havenât tried how it performs in a japanese joystick. I got a Hori at home. Iâll try it when I get off and post the results here.
My brother ordered a Golden Fanta kit and let me do some testing. First off Iâm not a Tekken player, I play shmups and 2d fighters. For me my favorite setup was IST airbag with 11mm shaft, cone actuator and red grommet. The first fanta I installed the red grommet into would get stuck inputs, the second had no issues at all. Currently Iâm using a clear Sanwa battop, ordered a standard black one to try out but it hasnt arrived yet. Overall I had a lot of fun testing out different configurations, thanks wazwuz.
@Xavius Just curious what you meant âthe second had no issuesâ. Did you have a second setup or did you use it long enough to have that broken down feel (aka no stuck inputs). I think with all my tests with the cones actuator Iâll get stuck inputs and when I noticed it I just went back to either the stock myongshin actuator or (my current one) the 15.5 mm one.
I have two IST airbag levers, at first I had issues getting stuck on certain inputs with the cone actuator and red grommet . I switched out the collared plastic piece from second lever and the problems went away. I cant explain why it fixed the problem.
Bah! If youâve ever felt a CWJ then youâve felt a japanese mounted fanta. Tried it and the shaft hits the sides right after it clicks (engage is similar to throw). The inside of the hori clearly wasnât designed to house it either, considering how close the wires were to a wall of plastic (obvious). Installation requires that the base of the stick be perpendicular to the mounting plate or else m4 screws wonât be able to pass through both.
Use sensitive switches and firm grommets if you mustâŚ
Does this mean that the shortened collar actually makes the Fanta feel like a crown? I heard the 309MJ feels like the 309HelpMe. Maybe if the collar was made by Myoungshin themselves it would be like the differences between the MJ and Helpme. At least we can dream.
@Call2Arms When you say correct height, do you mean that if i fly myself over to Korea, that their arcades will have the same height. I just want to get my stick as authentic as possible.
I got a bit occupied with work and retro upscaled gaming stuff but had a bit of time to play with the Golden Fanta kit recently.
I really like the OMRON switches with the cone actuator and the biggest shaft. For a short throw and switch engage, this works pretty well for 2D and 3D fighters.
