Korean arcade parts discussion

Dammmm… That red battop really pretty on Golden fanta shaft, mine is still otw, can’t wait to put it on my golden shaft.

Thank you for your feedback. So sorry for having problems with the actuator holes, if you have access to drill press, try to fix it using 7mm drill bit. I did the project in a rush because too excited and haven’t try all the actuators hole, but I did check all the shaft.

I start noticing the cones actuator problem getting stuck from reviewers. I use cones actuator from the begining and heven’t got any issue. And it my fav actuator actually. I use 10mm shaft, blue sky grom, cones actuator. Could you try this setup and let me know if the cones still have the problem?

@wazwuz I will try the cone actuator again with AM51630C69N and GSM-V1623A2 switches when I get off work

By the way, the clear Sanwa battop looks gorgeous atop the bronze / “gold” shaft and dustwasher. But since it sits high (doesn’t screw down as far on the shaft), you’d have to reduce the overall height with some kind of spacer within the case to get the same height that we’re all used to.

@wazwuz Maybe it could be an option for the retail version to include a version of the shafts for the clear bat-top as well as the matte bat-tops. A slightly longer shaft for the matte bat-tops and a shorter shaft for the clear bat-tops. I still think we should try to make some replica Myoungshin bat-tops from derlin like what @hibachifinal mentioned.

Those SDB-201C buttons look like the Seimitsu PS-14-KN

at first glance, but they are very different

Looks like they’re using Cherry MX switches on them (or something similar in design to it). Makes me wonder if they use them what kind are they (red, blue, clear mx switch) and if we can change them as well.

Golden Fanta update: 14.5mm actuator and 7mm shaft doesn’t work with the OMRON switches at all. Almost non existent corner zones. I will use a larger actuator to see if it’s better.

Even when tightening the top pretty well with something firm, it eventually gets loose a couple of times. I am pretty bugged by it.

It’s Futaba Clicky switches.

Thanks! And from looking at the button caps on those crown buttons it looks like Cherry MX switches may not work on those either.

What you said about the loosening bat-top, I talked about earlier in the thread with the Kaze stick and changing a Myoungshin shaft for a JLF shaft. Either you have to use an adhesive to stick the bat-top down or you don’t change the shaft. This is why I keep talking about making bat-tops with the shaft. Less customization, but at the moment there are really only 4 Sanwa bat-tops (the clear version isn’t even the right height), and I personally much prefer the glossy joysticks.

And speaking of that, can anyone here provide a way to modify the color or flat out make some fanta battops of a color other than green or black? I’ve seen custom painted ones but I lack the resources to produce my own I’m afraid. We need someone on the case for that imo. Gs to everyone here. Feedback, innovation, whatever. You guys are awesome. (This is how you know I’m drunk)

If I spin sanded a sanwa battop super smooth, how do you get a clear coat on it like retail ball/myoungshin tops~?

Since I am testing, I am not going to use an adhesive.

I haven’t had this problem

@wazwuz @“The Phantomnaut” @hibachifinal @“aggro crag” @lolmark @call2arms @slaycruz @rbuniao @Chumpy @“Ghost Cobra” @“kodee vu” @Bullmance @FightGameGuru @kkolding @DJ-Blitz @CaliburX @fai9al We should list some of the issues we have found with the Golden Fanta so that we can male improvements. These are some I’ve heard so far:

The shafts do not include a slot for a screwdriver and make it hard for people to attach the bat-top (probably why the phantomnaut is having issues with the bat-top unscrewing). The bat-tops we have on offer at the moment are limited to matte finish Sanwa(not the fault of the mod but still sucks balls). Because those bat-tops are what the shafts are made for, any other top should fit slightly too high. Some shafts cannot have a shaft cover on them because of the smaller diameter the shaft is too thin. And finally the Plexiglas may be too thick(can be rectified by using the airbag stableizer)

So here is the list of issue from Beta Golden Fanta:

  1. Some actuators have fitting problems. (scrap material leftover)
  2. Cones and 17.5mm Actuator stuck for specific switches / new unused grommets. (I use cones on stock Airbag switches work fine)
  3. Dustwasher for small shaft cannot be installed. (design error)

Here is what work best (fav setup from some tester), likely will be on retail version

  1. Silicone Grommet (sky blue and Red)
  2. 10mm shaft
  3. 15.5mm actuator

Focus Attack have a lot variety on Battops

@wazwuz I think that the Omron switches are the ones @“The Phantomnaut” was having issues with. I think it is the size and the placement of the lever on the micro switch. The JLF doesn’t use levered micro switches and that is probably why it doesn’t have the issue.

So, I just recently switched to the sky blue grommet and the 15.5mm actuator. In the two days of testing I still can do the normal sf executions (ie hadouken and shoryuken motions) and most of the basic movement in Tekken (although I can do the Korean Backdash Cancel a little better I still can’t do it as well as Hibal in those Crown test videos  ). However, one thing I can do on the sky blue that was literaly a pain to do on the red grommet is instant air dash cancels on games like GG and Blazblue. I’d say I’ll be sticking with this setup for a week since my initial thoughts after using it was the diagonals were good and there’s still good tension for a variety of games.

Also, I let my niece use this setup and she didn’t have any issues from using it for an extended period of time (it was her first time using a fightstick). Though, the battop did get loose but I think this was attributed from her having a relative tight grip on it and also mashing it real crazy. Kinda like how that kid that faced Daigo in some expo in Hong Kong.

Though, later on she decided to want to learn how to play Blazblue Central Fiction properly by going through the first parts of the tutorial mode. She was able to do some of the special moves for Mai Natsume.

I think the sky blue setup with the 15.5mm actuator and 10mm shaft is a good setup for all levels.

I might try the green grommet but most definitely I want to try to use some 75g micros later on this week to see if the cones and 17.5mm actuators work on the harder grommets.
