@ProgressiveBalance No the MagicStick were the first to make the “airbag” stick, but they haven’t built that model since ~2012. I found a used (PS3)MagicStick case in 2013 at the Yongsan Electronics Market in Seoul Korea. I found out last year that JDCR used the same model, just in an Etokki stick.
Thanks. I have another suggestion for the “Golden Fanta/RED Lever”. The Green Lever and the MagicStick Airbag Lever have support underneath the micro-switches. Maybe this should be included for the project. I know it’s a bit late now that you have finished the prototype but i think it will make this the best lever you can buy.
I don’t know how support under microswitch will effect the performance, could someone tell me?. I think top support is enough to maintain the switches to be steady under pressure.
@wazwuz The microswitches have support underneath is to make sure that when tightening the microswitch to the Myoungshin Fanta case, is to ensure that the microswitch will be at 90-degree angle. The Standard Myoungshin Fanta does not have this feature. Microswitches can quickly wear down or loosen op.
Yeah, this is what I was unsure about thanks @kkolding. @wazwuz I thought that this might be useful and I DM’D him to ask about it. I also think this is what the metal plate on the Fujin V2 is for
I see that Airbag top support switch already done the job to keep the microswitch flat, IMO I don’t see major improvement/changes using double switch support.
BTW, since I like short throw, I try the 10mm shaft last night. and it work perfectly for me. Love it, It can improve my game by faster executions. now I’m getting closer finding my perfect Fanta stick
Is there any place to get a soft myoungshin fanta rubber that would make the performance closer to the one shown in JDCR’s Tekken 6 movement demonstration video? https://youtube.com/watch?v=owv11JIMBo4
The soft tension grommets are out of production. The original latex grommets wear out after prolonged use so they eventually get lighter. I heard of ways to loosen tension by forcing it under heat but I haven’t tried it to support it. You can either get the Airbag lever or FLF lever from Makestick.com. The Airbag grommet is softer than the stock Myoungshin Fanta and the FLF grommet is a lot lighter than most; maybe a bit too light.
If you can wait, @wazwuz at Arcade Stick Indonesia is selling silicone grommets at various tensions. The 40g hardness grommet is the lightest he will make.
Also from my knowledge, there is no normal Korean lever except for the Kaze lever to feature a blue top. That though is a Sanwa battop glued on. The problem with that is the Kaze shaft with the top is heavy so it helps the grommet in being stiff. The FLF lever shaft can fit with the Fanta just fine and works with Sanwa’s tops. There is also @wazwuz Golden Fanta project which has custom shafts so you can put a battop.
On another note, when do you think that Crown is going release the ‘Infiltration Special’ SDL-301?
I’ve read around that its going to be early 2017 (whatever that means…)
Do you think that they will have the Frosted translucent white that he uses for sale?..
I wonder if its going to fit in my Omni… And I hope that its going to be lighter than the Fanta (also hope that the battop is going to be wider than the fanta’s)
Makestick is looking to sell the SDL-301 around April or May if I recall correctly. The only time I seen that particular top was for an earlier prototype from Crown a year or so ago. It might have been a precursor to the SDL-301. I think it might come because they are utilizing a new shaft to work with the body instead of opting for what they have now.
Judging by the pictures, the top should be fatter. Hopefully it uses the same screw dimensions as Sanwa’s. It does have that similar bottom end as Sanwa’s top with that funnel-y insert.
