Korean arcade parts discussion

I highly recommend the 309MJ. Huge improvement over the 307.

Thanks guys. I was just having second thoughts on buying the 309MJ. But I am now reassured I am making the right choice. But could you go into more depth on how the 309MJ and Fanta differ. I plan to buy the same switches and add the same tension grommet to get closer to the korean arcades, and I want to know if that brings me closer to the myoungshin considering i will not know what that feels like without spending a fortune for all these part.

I plan to put the 309MJ into a madcatz soul edition and I am considering buying a 303 or 305 from here:https://www.arcadeshop.de/index.php?cPath=73_111 to get a green, orange or violet shaft. If you think it is worth it, what color should I get.?

Also I think you should make a video review on the Kaze I donā€™t know if anyone has anyone made a video review on the Kaze yet? I want to try out the single gersung switch concept when I get my 309MJ.

If you want to see more of how I think about the 309 series, here.

I tried the original 303 and thought it was ok. Playable but a bit inaccurate. If you are inclined to get it, I like the green color. For the 305, you can only get violet anyways.

As for the Kaze lever, I am on the case.

I like that you say it is a median (I have balance in my name). If I read the review on the website correctly, the bottom of the 309MJ is similar to the 303. This is interesting because I saw You a while ago make a Frankenstein 307 and 303 similar to what is described on your webpage and said it was an improvement on both sticks but wasnā€™t perfect.

If I buy a green 303 from etokki, and I add the blue 303 bottom, is it a downgrade from the 309MJ bottom? I just want to be unique. B)

If youā€™re worried about your bat top color, you could pickup a conversion shaft from Paradise Arcade and use any threaded aftermarket bat top with your 309MJ.

For use with ball tops: https://paradisearcadeshop.com/shafts/932-crown-303-fk-3mm-hollow-shaft-stock-length.html?search_query=crown+shaft&results=20

I wouldnā€™t worry about buying multiple sticks to experiment with swapping parts on your first purchase.

The only issue is that the ball/bat-top unscrews itself. That is why the Kaze has epoxy keeping the Sanwa bat-top on the shaft. I am also not a fan of Sanwa bat-tops and want something OEM.

I hope that the Kaze review comes quickly. I canā€™t even install one but iā€™m still pretty exited. My interest in Korean arcade levers is that their is more than just a JLF, LS-56 or LS-32. Crown seems to have a new stick all the time. I do hope that the Crowns become as good as the Fantas. I always hear in reviews that the Crowns are good, but not Fanta good. How long do you think it will take for Crown to be regarded as just as good or better than the Fanta?

Emailed FocusAttack about the possibility of them getting the 309MJ and they said they will have it in their next order. Sometime before the end of the month they will be getting it.

i still think ill buy mine from makestick.com because of how helpful they have been. Depending on shipping and import/export though i might change my mind.

^ Stick is pretty much double the cost due to shipping. It sucks but thatā€™s just the way it is.

Hi I am interested in trying out one of these sticks, I was just looking for a bit of input about which Korean stick to pick up. I usually use a Sanwa JLF with an extra Seimitsu LS-33 spring for more tension. I was considering a Crown 307FJ-JMS-ST or a Crown 309MJ. I read the tensions in the 307 is 55-60 gr and the 309 is 35gr, what would these tensions be comparable too? Thanks for your help

If you order from makestick.com, you can try out multiple tensions. Thatā€™s the only help I can offer. I will add that Korean sticks are a whole lot different to Japanese sticks. Your preference in them might not be anything at all similar to Japanese sticks.

This next suggestion is a bit rediculus but feasible. Microswitches also make a huge diffirence in sticks too. Iā€™ve never seen it done in a Korean arcade stick.http://hibachicandy.tumblr.com/post/38136650910/levered-sanwa-jlf-modification I imagine you could turn JLF switches into levered switches and put them in a Korean stick. Itā€™s never been done, meaning no one will know how it will turn out. It will also force you to solder the micro switch straight to the harness. I just canā€™t think of any other ways to match what you have in your JLF.

Not that hard. I got one myself.

Just buy those and thatā€™s pretty much it. Good response. Put em in a TaeYoung with a different grommet, lever and actuator

As far as grommets are concerned, the higher the number the higher the tension. So a 35 ainā€™t gonna snap back to neutral like a 60. Also a 35 wonā€™t work your hand/wrist as hard as a 45 or something. The throw (range in which you can even move the damn thing) is much greater in korean sticks. This changes a bit with stick that fit in Japanese panels (I THINK thatā€™s the kinda stick you mentioned) so be wary of that.

Thanks for the advice. The whole mixing and matching parts sounds fun.

The only problem is from what I heard, the JLW switches are one and one third times stiffer. I believe that the switches sold on Focus attack are those switches. The switch Iā€™m showing you, only seems to share a similar name to JLW switches. https://www.focusattack.com/sanwa-ms-0-2p-micro-switch/ This is what is inside the JLFā€™s TP-MA PCB Assembly, you can see where it would be soldered on to the board. Iā€™m sure that is a small difference and most likely unnoticeable, but I have never tried it. I canā€™t test this stuff so you have to just take my word for it. But if you have a JLF as well as your Taeyoung, I would recommend testing it out. Despite all of that, your method is a lot easier as harvesting parts from micro switches is actually harder than you think. Depending on the switches your harvesting you might have to drill rivets for a part that might not fit.

Does anyone know if the case for the Hori fighting edge is deep enough to accommodate the Crown CWL-307FJ-JMS-ST joystick without modification?

Yes

At most you might have to bend the quick disconnects.

What stick boxes/cases do the crown 307ā€™s fit into most easily? Iā€™m greatly considering getting the new razer panthera and putting in a korean stick into that. After some asking around Iā€™ve been told its the larger cases similar in size to the te2+ that will work best. The panthera also comes with an octagonal gate + sanwa stick so I can switch between them as I see fit. Sound good? (mishima player here)

Iā€™ve looked at the makestick pro but the button positions look a tad strange with 1/2/3/4 being in the middle of the 8 buttons as well as the start button close too that might get accidentally pressed if your hand slips.

Basically anything designed for a sanwa JLF. However you do have to factor in the depth of the joystick case so that it can accommodate the crown lever. I once put a 307 into a HRAP 4 and it wasnā€™t quite deep enough and pushed the casing upwards.
