Korean arcade parts discussion

welp it’s been 3days, and it is still under “paid” but not shipped in the website order details. did you guys pay thru paypal or directly with a card?

paypal

I think I know why your order didn’t ship.

There was a fire in the IST building (lazy google translation). If the fire didn’t affect product, expect some delay until further notice.

oh well damn thats a bummer. i hope everything’s okay lol

Apparently they will “resume operations as quickly as possible” and nobody died or anything so not big of a loss, although the people that put in their products for repairing lost a lot of their stuff

Edit: Also the only place where you can buy seimitsu products in Korea is unavailable for a few more days(maybe weeks)now. RIP

So what is a airbag lever?

From what I gather, an Airbag lever more or less refers to a modified Myoungshin Fanta lever. Using the Fanta’s core body as a base, the stock switches are swapped with Panasonic/Matsushita switches and are held still with a stabilizer. Whether or not the traits are related to the name I don’t know. A person named Airbaguy makes his own interpretation with a heavier tension grommet, smaller actuator and different stabilizer. ISTMall/Makestick has a more simplified version where most of the Fanta’s elements remain except for a lighter rubber grommet.

Technically, the Green Arcade Fanta is sort of an Airbag since it adheres to Airbag traits. It has two stabilizers, below and above the switches, a smaller actuator than the Fanta (don’t know its measurements), silicone tension (felt light when I tried Nin’s stick at EVO) and a custom top attached to a shaft smaller in diameter.

Where does one pick up Korean parts in Seoul? I might be going soon. Also a Green arcade modified stick, unless those are only an online thing. I’d be coming from Japan so Korea is pretty close.

And what do I need to know to mount those on Japanese Sega or Sega clone panels?

Crown/Samducksa has various stores around Seoul. I don’t know the details unfortunately. As for other parts, you can probably talk to Laugh about it on Etokki. When it comes to Green’s lever, you can try begging and letting the owner know you will spend a lot for it.

When it comes to mounting, you need a 35mm hole I believe so the main neck gate can go through. Also a mounting plate where with the same hole size and screw points.

I can search up locations for you, PM me

Also unless if you have some mean skills with a good dremel, forget mounting the “original(as in the ones with necks)” levers because it’s a pain in the ass

are you gonna be at evo? will be cool to meet you there and curious if you’re gonna put these to the test over there lol.

also regarding the FLF, you think putting in a stock myoungshin grommet will make it feel like a “japanese mount” myoungshin fanta?

I just won these panels (which I’ll be paying for today) off Yahoo auctions. I would use the non-Sega one for a Korean panel.

And thanks! I’ll keep that in mind Meilils!

No prob, and those panels look veeery nice

Speaking of panels, the makestick sold at IST can mount both Korean and Japanese joysticks, would be interesting if IST decides to sell them overseas

Before the fire, it looked like they were adding it following the Miku box.

I was thinking of getting one but I am no fan of that layout. If they had the option to do custom panels, that would be nice.

It’s just the old hori layout basically so there’s nothing to it that’s unplayable

as per suggested on the istmall site itself, i just ended up cancelling the order, thankfully it was automatically refunded. kinda bummed (anyone wanna sell me an airbag lever? lol)…

speaking of panels, i always see that curved “old hori” layout in most mdf/wodden korean sticks, seems like a popular choice. even though it has an odd placement of buttons on the upper left.

but then you also got crazy layouts like

Anyone in here selling this item?

  1. Crown 303a joytron special white version
  2. Fujin stick

Just got back from EVO. Unfortunately Knee didn’t let me buy his Green lever from him even I told him I would give him a lot for it. His stick (Magiclab Magicstick M4) didn’t work so he had to use both the supplied Hori RAP4 and Narakhof’s Makestick Pro which had a normal Myoungshin Fanta.

But when we were trying to test his stick, I got to use the Green Fanta again. What I really noticed is that the shaft diameter below the top but before it hits the grommet’s plastic end required more travel to hit the neck gate. It really reminded me of Crown’s CWJ-303N since it had a similar design but through the larger funnel of the neck gate. I just want more time with it to really dig into the intricacies.

After going through some problems with my ground wire not connecting, I got to try my 309-equipped stick on Tekken 7 Fated Retribution. It’s definitely accurate but the lighter silicone grommet didn’t get me back to neutral as much as I wanted to due to my hand habits. I will try it with the 55g unit I also bought.

Oh yeah @kkolding Genius was there and had your modded Razer he bought. The Fujin lever was really impressive. Felt like a Fanta but a bit smoother and had slightly higher tension. I loved using the smoke transparent top since the the large size and matte-like grip helped me get through a hard losers bracket match in T7FR! Too bad you can’t get the top anymore.

So I got my panels, I can take pics, but can I put Korean parts on a standard Sega cab panel? The one in question is third party, and is it worth it? I’ll actually have three at the end of the day setup:

2P Astro City (Saturn version) - Seimitsu
1P Versus City - Sanwa
1P third party - Crown / Myoungshin Fanta ???

I play a lot of Tekken already at the arcades.

Breaking news from IST mall, the fire was to the point where the entire building lost all functionality so they’re going to move out of the building and into a new one. They’re currently preparing the tools and other stuff required to keep the wheels moving, and they hope to re-open by July the 25th. Parts that have to be shipped into the country will take time, so they’re going to start to resell the products, one by one(so RIP my dreams of getting an LS-58, for now)
