Korean arcade parts discussion

Thanks for the info, he actually told me something similar some months ago but I didn’t think it was about the same thing. He said that switches (and grommets for that matter) are made by hand, not in a factory by a machine or something. He told me that they’re both tested by feel, by a person, so they’ll all vary and there’s no standard. If you get two 35A shore grommets, they won’t feel the same for example. He said he was jealous of Japan for having Sanwa as a standard lol.

I love how Saint is such a fight stick tech buff while JDCR just plays whatever’s in front of them.
It’s like the complete opposite of their image in the community.

Good for Qudans. I remember when he “retired” from Tekken due to problems with his wrist. Time flies.

Snap action switches made by hand, not industrially? Come on man, there’s a misunderstanding somewhere.
Imho he meant that he tested and thus selected 4 switches “by hand” out of a batch for an even feel, given that it happens that some switches with the exact same refs happen sometimes to differ slightly in feel (this is not abnormal, spec sheets tell you there is a small variance in terms of actuation distance and operating force for the same model).
Ever heard of “matched electronic components” ? Well that’s roughly what he’s doing more or less, by hand, by bundles of 4 switches, except that he’s not matching them for their electronic specs, but only on a mechanical level, if you can call that matching since it is done by hand, which is not very reliable nor precise.
I’d add that this is a bit over the top, big name brands (omron, pana etc) do not need this “hand matching”, at all, for joysticks.
Ever heard of hand matching switches for a JLF? a A LS32? Come on, it happens(very rarely) to have a faulty switch in a stock lever, other than that the variance is too small to be felt.
The batch of AM5 panasonic switches distributed by Korean arcade parts companies (so called “thai switches”) have nothing that sets them apart from standard AM5 panasonic switches other than their erroneous ref number printed on the case.

Talking about homemade grommets makes much more sense, it isn’t rocket science but you need the knowledge, the right tools&methods and means to produce a mold at home, it is perfectly feasible. It shouldn’t be underestimated though.

I am currently researching for the 309 HelpMe levers , but i cant find alot of info online except alot of korean friends tell me to not buy the v3 if i can find the v2 version thats the best one . does somene have the version 2 that can share some information and parts of it ? what seperates it from the version 3 , and if someone has version 2 and 3 and can share the comparison would be great . Also alot of the korean friends say if i play mishima dont buy the v3 at all someone can relate ?

The second version has Panasonic switches.

EDIT: Maybe the tension is a bit lower. Also the purple top.

I went to TWT Finals, shit was godlike. Best experience I’ve ever had.

Off topic but I played on a hori stick that’s in development called the fighting edge for PS4. I can’t put my finger on it but it felt like a step up from the old hori.

Interestingly, I found myself being able to execute a bit better on Japanese stick compared to the past for tekken after having played on the Omni stick for the past month. It’s like the korean stick improved my overall execution.

Oh the Fighting Edge existed since the last generation. The new version lacks a large LED touch pad which can be used to lock special controls or assign custom buttons.

Personally, the Fighting Edge is my favorite Japanese stick.

Yeah I remember the name but never played on the PS3 version. I think they had a small version for the PS2. Nevertheless the PS4 version I played on felt better than a Sanwa to me.

Damn I can only imagine…that tournament was amazing. Weird I played on my jlf recently just for kicks and while electrics are super easy I’m still terrible with cd’s on 1p but kbd on both sides come out very quick.

Perhaps not made by hand, but definitely tested by hand. I don’t think he meant that he himself tested them. I’m not entirely sure since I’m just passing on what I was told and understood, but maybe the margin of error is still too big for his liking even if the production methods are sound.

v2 has Panasonic switches and v3 has A3s. Other than that they’re exactly the same I think.

Does Crown/Samducksa have any physical stores in Seoul?

There are stores from pictures I have seen. Maybe this will help.

Finally I have a night with green lever, I have completed measuring all the mod parts and share it on my tweet (wazwuz).
I can tell you Green lever is just myoungshin using 7mm shaft, 14.5mm actuator, 35 shore A silicone, and switch support.
to be honest I’m not fan of 7mm shaft. throw is too deep and grommet spoll likely hit the body when pivoting (I can see there is some chip in the green body because of this), and making throw not smooth (you can feel someting holding your throw)

I also try experimenting combine some golden parts to green lever, after doing a lot of combination and testing. finally R-tech prefer full Golden Fanta using myungshin + 8mm shaft + 15.5mm actuator + green 45 silicone. he find this setup is perfect for him and will keep his green lever as a precious collection. I also ask him if he could get me a green lever when he visiting green arcade (I just want it for collection) but he said it is near imposible to get another one lol. IDK what magic he use so he can get a green lever, he get it from Nin.

so when in the car picking R-tech from airport. I find interesting chat. he said that even many korean don’t like green lever and decide play to another arcade. also help me lever is very popular in korea and he makes a lot of money from this success. then I ask why don’t green arcade switch to help me lever, he said green arcade ia very strich for his green lever and no one dare to do it.
R-tech is very close to korean top player, he got all this info from them.

conclusion. Nothing special about green lever except it is hard to get. I can made the 100% exact replicas but since we have Golden Fanta, I don’t think it is interesting as before.

@wazwuz oh no that it’s nothing special but I guess we all want what we cannot have. Do u know if the switch positioning is different on the green arcade lever compared to stock myoungshin?

we can see Green lever do nothing on switch placement, so still standart myoungshin position.

@wazwuz they still using Panasonic microswitches?

My favorite setup on my Myoungshin fanta is the 8 mm shaft with the 15.5 mm actuator. But I lucked out with the sky blue grommet as it’s my favorite grommet but don’t see it anymore.

would this fit on the back of a normal fanta ?

this one still using panasonic

yeah many Golden Fanta moder go for this setup.
actually sky blue (55) is dark blue (55) for the final Golden Fanta.
