Korean arcade parts discussion

performance from what im told is pretty close, I have the MJ and I am pretty satisfied with it, especially after tweaking out the setup with golden crown. its hard to recommend levers to other people because everyone’s preferences are different. do you have another fightstick to drop the MJ into? if you do, i would probably go with a fanta on the one you want to drill.

@Jollyx I hated the collared version lol. Just get the mj and wait to drill the 35mm hole til you decide on a different korean lever. Only reason I dislike the collared version is I find it way easier to kbd on the mj. Seen the tekken world tour tourney in Korea not too long ago and a ton of ppl with the makestick case enclosure were using the mj even though they had the 35mm hole drilled in.

I have both, and I’d just go with the 309mj. The difference between the Helpme and mj is very small. If you want a case that you can try a variety of Korean levers in, drill away, though.

Imo I’d go with a MJ version. For the simple fact you could change back to a Japanese lever if you ever wanted to. Versatility.

Thank you for all the fast and really accurate answers. At first I realized that the high collar had a better function for the various movements, but if your experiences show that even crown 309mj feels good, i think that i just purchase the 309mj and the 35 silicone tension to obtain the same performance as the helpme version. The golden crown mod is still available?

Might want to drop that question in the “Razer arcade stick thread”. Maybe someone there could point you in the right direction. Maybe even give you a picture of the stock PCB with pinouts highlighted.

Random question: so are old school Taeyoung (possibly Myoungshin) battop handles that came in Red, pretty much impossible to find nowadays?

@zero_requiem

I’d give it a bit more time the fujin v2 is definitely my favorite korean lever I’ve used. The stiffness takes a bit of getting used to but it feels far more responsive than both the taeyoung and myoungshin which I’ve used previously.

Just curious what are your thoughts on the kaze lever now that you’ve had it a couple days? On the fence about ordering it. Still using the fujin v2 which I switched to from the taeyoung and happy with it but open to trying out other levers. How does it compare to those?

I think I read in one of your other posts your favorite lever now is a taeyoung with some of the golden fanta parts? Definately will need to pick one of those up next time their avaliable.

That’s good! I was told by e-mail that I will have to wait until after the holiday. I hope your stuff comes soon!

Is it possible to replicate the bouncy elastic feel that the Fanta levers have with the Crown 309MJ? I found that much more natural and comfortable to play on, and what I initially expected a Korean stick to feel more like than what the 309 offers. Is it just a matter of removing the spring?

EDIT: I put the stock 25A grommet back in and took out the spring. Feels pretty good, actually. It’s still a little too loose for my taste, so when my 35A grommet arrives I think it’ll be perfect.

Thanks for the breakdown, I think I’m going to have to purchase one too. Always appreciate the breakdown pictures. Excited to try this stick out.

Does anyone have a readable schematic/datasheet/engineering drawing for the CROWN CWL-309MJ-KMS-ST25? I cannot find one.

When going through the Panthera mod to fit korean stick, aside from the step drill 35mm, what mounting plates and cables (if needed) do i need. So i’ve got the Tae, step drill so far… i already have left over conversion harnesses from the 309MJ if its needed…

@m_abdalla3 You’ll prob need a universal plate to mount it. And the joystick cables to put on the switches. Sounds like you already have that though. That’s about it. Be careful when drilling the hole not to warp it. Use a good quality step bit that’s “sharp”.

Here you go. Not the most accurate but you can use the other charts from the other levers to compensate. http://samducksa.com/new/product/index_view.php?UidNum=373

@kimjongskill the kaze lever is very snappy but with the switches being closer together, 10mm and I forget 16/16.5mm actuator the throw is very short. It’s not as short as the 309 so if say it’s somewhere between the myoungshin and 309. Overall I think it’s worth it but that completely depends on your play style. My goal with the taeyoung was to imitate the fujin v2 and have a lever that has better instant run with a lighter grommet and I’ve achieved this with the taeyoung. I favor bigger throw over short so I went back to the taeyoung but managed to get the same feeling in my myoungshin. Instead of using an A2 for down I used the A3 with 8mm shaft and 15/15.5mm shaft. My taeyoung set up is 8mm shaft with 15mm actuator, A2 switch for down and thai switches. The smaller the actuator and shaft you have more room for error and adjustments that you can’t imitate on a short throw. Gonna switch out the bushing in the kaze some time this week to try out golden fanta parts and I’ll post results here. The test I use in order to see if the lever fits my play style is doing every variation of ewgf on 1p/2p then I move on to how fast and consistent I can cd then I do kbd. The biggest problem I found with kaze is my cd on 1p is very inconsistent and sloppy. As far as electrics go is say I do then the fastest on the kaze but that isn’t enough for me to switch to it.

@ykd np just trying my best to let ppl know about the kaze since there isn’t much info about it.

You’ll probably want to use that harness to connect it, and like VarintBaby said, you need a mounting plate. The Kowal one is nice but you can use the one from the MJ if you don’t want to buy a new one. You should be set.

Awesome thanks. Do you happen to know if the st35 and st45 grommets for sale in places like focus attack are compatible with this stick? It looks that way. Also of any sources for oversized actuators?

For those who got the Fujin lever from Makestick recently, can you remove the top or is it glued in?

The reason I ask is that there is a modified version of the Fujin V2 now being sold from the creator where the top can be removed. He is also selling replacement mounting plates for Japanese mounting systems. Hopefully Makestick or another place sells that version in the future.

Yup they should work but you have to replace the plastic bushings since they are different. As for oversized actuators, @wazwuz has the Golden Crown project. Whenever he will do another shipment of units, he will post it here.

Any idea how long they have been on the market for ? I got one of the last batches they sold, haven’t tried to take the bat off at all though. Will be taking a look. Definitely need to see about getting them available for us somehow.
