Korean arcade parts discussion

Did anybody try the Kaze modded 309s? Is the neckless version worth it?

damn, I just got one and I was thinking it’d be like the 2lb sanwa spring which I really like. hopefully it feels like the 2lb spring in terms of resistance.

Update on the Crown 45A grommet. After playing on it for awhile, it seems to have been broken in. Still really stiff but not so much so that it’s impossibly tiring to play on. Would definitely recommend for Mishima players.

@EndRant it should be fine especially since the throw on the 309 is very short compared to its other k-stick counterparts.

@ā€œmasked riderā€ Nice! I have one from my infiltration and recently switched out my 55 to a 35 on my 309. Cd is ridiculous on that lever but for some odd reason I can’t kbd if my life depended on it lol. What set up are you using? Am5s don’t agree with me on it and ended up throwing my A3s back in. I even have a sanwa battop with hollow shaft on it atm. Can’t find a golden crown set up that I like which is kind of frustrating so I’m just using my golden taeyoung.

@MeiliIsCharm will let you know some time this week when my kaze comes in.

nice, i cant wait to hear about the kaze. im kind of on the fence about getting one, just can’t justify the shipping costs. I feel like i would have to get a fujin and airbag as well and that will probably mean i need to build another stick. the more i think about it, the more and more expensive it gets.

I run AM5s. I haven’t tried other microswitches on it yet but I don’t really feel a need to switch. Having more sensitive microswitches works really well with the stiff grommet so you don’t have to move the stick as far. Not sure if the JLF conversion shaft makes much a difference in feel but the Sanwa bat top is definitely more comfortable than the stock Crown one.

@eyeamg0dly agreed shipping is ridiculous plus I live in Canada so the exchange rate from usd to cad is killer lol. Fujin was my favorite up until I got a good set up on my taeyoung with golden fanta. Don’t even know why i got the kaze since I barely use my 309 and sdl-301 but i guess I just wanted to what the big deal is with it. I’ll definitely give feedback on the kaze since anyone that has one never gives me any answers about it.

opinions on the SDL-301 as a ā€œgeneral fighting gamesā€ stick? i would like to put it on my hayabusa N., how well works on tekken? and on motion characters on 2D games? i play tekken a lot but i also play a lot of 2D fighters, and i am very hype for DBFZ, is the SDL-301 a good hybrid between korean adn japanese sticks?

what customization options exist? visually i love the 309 white battop, and i think the N. would look better with the 309 battop and there’s a way to put a balltop on the 301?

Did you make that video? I found it on Youtube yesterday, it helped me so much! Thank you!

Yup. I am glad it helped.

Hopefully I have time to do a new video with more Korean stuff.

My experience with the Infiltration lever is that it’s very suited for 2D. Maybe it’s the actuator or the switches or the tension but the lever personally just doesn’t feel right for 3D (not even just Tekken).

When it comes to swapping the tops, I never tried with a 309 top but I will tonight and follow up with an edit.

So as someone who wants a snappy 309MJ and plays Mishimas, should I use a 35A silicone grommet or a 45A rubber one? This is going on a stock 309MJ.

Thanks.

thanks for the information, but how well the 301 works in 3D fighting games compare to japanese joysticks? i don’t expect it to be perfect for 3D fighting games, but yes better than jap sticks.

It doesn’t have the snappiness I feel in Japanese levers. There a lot of wiggle in the neutral and the light tension I tried in the pre-release model didn’t let me do some execution stuff efficiently. Heavier tension should help a bit. In the end I would rather use a normal Sanwa JLF instead for 3D fighting games if I had to use Japanese.

thanks, i supose i keep the hori stick, i would like to have a korean stick in the future, but in other case and the stick should be good for 3D fighters.

the hori works way better for me than JLF, specially on tekken, i feel way more comfortable and precise with the hori in tekken than the JLF, but you know how this works, in the end of the day, all that matters is with what you feel more comfortable.

@thelordlonewolf ball top will fit perfectly on the 301. While not being a huge fan of the sdl-301 I’d say it wouldn’t hurt to get one esp since switching between a k-stick and jlf will honestly throw your game off. I’ve been using the jlf since the madcatz te round 2s came out and I used to think the throw was very wide but since I’m used to k-sticks now the throw on the jlf feels non-existent. I even used an oversized actuator at one point on the jlf but after trying it recently it’s non even manageable since the throw feels too tight. Still prefer to play 2D games on jlf/seimitsu and tekken with korean levers but been focusing on tekken as of late so it’s ok.

anyone know how to make the fanta lever have more grip , it became abit slippery.

Easy solution is some slightly rough sandpaper

Does anyone know how to make my shaft less slippery ? really annoying

@thelordlonewolf Just tested and Crown’s normal tops wont fit with a 301 unless the grommet bushing is from a 303, 307 or 309. You can swap the stock 301 top with that of a Sanwa ball or bat top though.

So you are asking you want the shaft to be less slippery when contacting the collar?

@ThePhantomnaut @zero_requiem thanks a lot, if i buy a korean stick i would buy other one that is not the sdl-301 and is more suited for 3D fighting games.

PD: focus attack says the 301 have compatibility issues with sanwa balltops. https://www.focusattack.com/samducksa-sdl-301-dx-joystick-lever/
