Korean arcade parts discussion

I just tried the 45a grommet in my 309 helpme. I think it compliments a Mishima player well. I dig it. But I’m someone who favors a little more resistance. I probably wouldn’t go higher than this though. I can’t speak for the Golden Crown grommets either.

speaking of grommets whats the stock tension on myoungshin fanta? im playing around with golden fanta grommets and kinda want to know for reference reasons.

I always thought it was either Shore A 45 or 55, assumed more it was 55, but @wazwuz can probably help out.

I just got my golden fanta mod kit a few days ago from @wazwuz.
Am not an expert with the korean sticks but i have really really good execution in game and i go with what it feels good with my hands .
So first of all sadly , i know i am the minority but the golden fanta mod kit came to me damaged or used i think they were inspecting it when importing it to germany or something and they stabbed the envelop with something sharp and almost everything was damaged , due to the stab of the envelop the screwdrives were loose inside the box and i guess during travels they were running around scratching everything :frowning:
That didnt let me down tho i guess shit happens , on to the test so i have a Omni Etokki with the Taeyoung lever , i loved it so far but always something felt abit wierd about consistency with that stick ,its really great just the actuator is the worse part of it , thanks to this forums i realised it and investigate it to understand why one day i can perform so well and in theo ther day i cant even do a single ewgf .
To the next task ill talk about the shafts and the actuators of GOLDEN Fanta mod kit .

I tried the small (8mm) shaft first with the smallest(15mm) actuator and went up on size with the actuators same shaft .
Very fun to experiment i broke my personal record on practise mode did 25 pwgfs in a row back to back , very good with diagonals and single input moves , suffered with qcf motions i guess perfect for other characters that dont need qcf motion or other games .

Actuator size 15.5mm
That was my favorite combination with that shaft very delicant very smooth really fast inputs and clean my only issue was i was used to bigger and heavier shafts and on panic motions of example ewgf nothing was coming out because i was too harsh i guess with practise this combo might be the best for this shaft .

Actuator 16mm
Same as before altho this combination i found tiring after few hours of practising but that just my hands ,clean inputs a tiny bit harder with diagonals

Actuator 16.5mm
This sadly didnt fit my hands at all for fighting games but that is just preference and i decided i wont try this actuator again ( i tried it with all shafts it felt the same ).

SHAFT 9mm
One of the best shafts felt really natural to me all actuators exept the 16 mm had the same feeling to my hands .
Best combination to this shaft was the smallest 15mm actuator and it was an advice from @zero_requiem really fast and clean inputs perfect diagonals qcf from both sides felt super fast .

Actuator 15.5mm
Great feeling i had a bit of problems with panic ewgfs they didnt come as clean as with the smallest actuator again its preferance with my small hands i bet someone can have greater resaults with this .

Actuator 16mm
Again this was tiring but everything felt consistant and smooth just not as fast .

Shaft 10mm
My personal favorite shaft it feels heavy and deadly  really close feeling to the original Taeyoung shaft!!
This shaft is my best so far combination with the smallest actuator 15mm everything comes super fast and clean , i did an 8 hour session with it not tiring at all i recommend for mishima players

Actuator 15.5mm
Same feeling for me again personal preference after the 15mm actuator everything feels abit slughish with the bigger shaft but i have a feeling for short sessions this combination can bring really good resaults .
since i felt my hands gets tired after a while with big shaft and 15,5mm actuator i didnt bother trying the bigger actuators .

CONS with actuators!!
In general you can feel the quality with golden fanta mod actuators one thing i would love to see in the future will be a golden fanta actuator that fits the original shaft wich i love , after all the combination i practised/tried i had the feeling ok this is all awesome but i feel if i had the actuators fit into the original taeyoung shaft would be the best combo ever sadly it doesnt fit .
Other concerns am having and more experienced people or @wazwuz himself can answer i feel sometimes from the sound and only that am i hurting my microswitches when beeing abit more harsh on panic moves ? or in general my taeyoung stick because the GAP sound sometimes feels too much hehe .

CONS with Shafts
One big issue i was having and that can be me maybe there is a good life hack someone can provide.
No matter how hard i screwed the shafts into the sanwa holders after a few hours i had to screw them in again because they were getting lose into my hands worse feeling ever especially for me it happened during tournament. And its really a pain when you are using Omni Etokki because you have to unscrew every single thing to have access to the shaft .

Grommets
Ill be completly honest i didnt try all of them because they felt abit moushy and they felt diffrent than the Taeyoung robbers wich i completly love .
Best ones was the Red and the Blue for mishima play again its personal preference .

Dust holders .
Sadly the holders looked really bad due to the scratches i mentioned at the start . altho i guess and ive seen other pictures of other users they look fantastic when they are new !
Personally i would love them to be abit bigger a tiny move of the lever reveals the hole .

Thats my take folks sorry for my poor english i hope i helped even a tiny bit as you did to me all those months reading the forums have a good one !

the conversion shaft with the sanwa battop installed makes a shorter lever. this isn’t significant to the eye, but when playing the leverage is much smaller and it makes a difference. with the crown battop every grommet feels lighter

and now for something that might be interesting to people, I hate how heavy the crown battop is, so i modded the sanwa conversion shaft + sanwa battop to bring it to the same height with the default. this is what i’m pleased with the most (I ended up with a 5mm spacer + 1.5mm of space between screw and spacer to match the crown battop height)
https://imgur.com/a/uzaVQ
after installing the spacer and the screw, i was able to adjust the battop height according to taste. I went for the default length

note on crown conversion shaft: the crown conversion shaft fits the grommet bushing and the default actuator almost perfectly. every other shaft / actuator combo results in increased deadzone of the lever

@sinonick intresting mod hehe , more pictures with the battop attached would be lovevly to see the full picture. something else , what did u use to drill the hole in your panthera ? step drill ? what kind ? was it hard to do ? thanks in advance.

@Marios i used a 36mm stepdrill, I was impatient and didn’t wait for the 35mm stepdrill to arrive, hense the gap around the collar

It was easy but definitely needed patience. there are two sheets of metal under the plexi where the stick is located.

Are the Myeongshin Fanta switch support plates available as individual parts anywhere? Are they worth it? I guess it does seem like you could probably just drill some holes in a piece of lexan or something.

They’re worth it, but I don’t know anywhere that sells them, individually.

You can make your own pretty easily. If you have sheet-metal shears, a drill and a 30mm hole-saw, you can make one out of a cookie tin or any other scrap sheet metal you have laying around.

@Marios very odd that the actuators don’t work on taeyoung shaft cuz I can use all of them on mine since it’s size is only a tiny bit bigger than myoungshin’s shaft. My golden crown I just received I can’t use the 16.5mm actuator on the 8 and 9mm shafts because the tolerance is too tight.

The golden fanta kits need to be packed a little better because the parts are getting damaged during shipping. My golden crown and golden fanta’s plastic were both ripped upon arrival inside the paper envelope. Everything was mixed together and slightly banged up. I think somewhat wrapping all actuators and shafts with a little bubble wrap would help then wrapping the entire kit with bubble wrap instead of that thin plastic.

hi guys I have a Crown 309 and I noticed when I move the stick back (1P side) it seems “looser” than the rest of the directions. How can I adjust the actuator to match the other directions?

I had the same problem, as someone told me it might be the grommet not being perfectly centered in the housing.

.
In other news my Infiltration lever arrived. Seems like a quality piece although I’m not really sure what the restrictor plate would do, whether it’s a circle or circlesquare one. The switches actuate so far before you’d ever come close to the gate I’m not entirely sure what the point of it is.

Infiltration is known to be very aggressive with his stick movement enough to the point he uses a 45g grommet with the 301 so hitting the gate is probable. He said on stream it is enough of a reminder where to start and stop in movement but always a grain of salt =).

Open the lever and adjust the grommet accordingly. You will need to remove the actuator and shaft first with a small flathead screwdriver.

Same here. Fortunately the only things scratched were the dust washers which were too small and I couldn’t use them anyways. Even small baggies for the screws and dishwashers would help.

Hi @Marios. Nice write up! To fix this problem you can go to your local hardware store and pick up a lock washer. Specifically a split washer or a cup washer. Both are used to keep bolts tight in engines by keeping pressure on the 2 contacting surfaces. I use a spit washer on the golden because I had one laying around and it seems to work fine. A cup washer is rated higher. Here’s a pic:

Curious; is there any way I can emulate a square gate on my Myoungshin/Crown stick? I know that Infiltration’s stick is supposed to do something similar, but I’m curious if I could it to make playing 2D fighters a little easier (specifically d/b is hard to do quickly on my Ksticks)

call2arms found that the Golden Fanta emulated the effect of a square gate on his FLF. He used a 7mm shaft and 14.5mm actuator, though.

Interesting. I’ve been considering 3D-printing a gate to go between the switches and stick body to see if I can get an actual 3D print to share/reprint as needed. I just don’t know a lot about it, but I work with some ex-Makerbot employees; maybe I’ll see if I can get some help modeling/printing it.

I’m having myoungshin problems. Im not sure if it is an issue with the microswitches or with golden fanta actuators. largest actuator sometimes hits df and db when i press either forward or back. all the other smaller actuators do not hit corners consistently. has anyone else had this problem?
