Korean arcade parts discussion

this is new, I hope this is an error. IMO A2 + smaller actuator is not good combination.

wait till monday, if someone haven’t paid his slot, you can have it.

@wazwuz yeah that’s exactly what happened. No good at all. Good thing I bought a Gold Fanta Kit from you and still waiting for it to arrive.

Sorry for the noob question, but what’s the significance with the Golden Crown kit? I currently have the 309MJ with the new A3’s. What would change my current build?

It’s a kit of different shafts, grommets, springs and actuators for you to try and modify the lever to your liking.

Also, what happenned? this thread was 52 pages now it’s 104? i’m confused :stuck_out_tongue:
edit: nvm it just dawned on me the number of posts per page changed

So I got The Samducksa/Crown SDL lever in the mail today…

Also known as “The Infiltration Lever.”

I have to say after installing it and playing on it for a good few hours, that this is definitely Crown’s premium stick. Just by the feel, the design of the housing, and customizability out of the box, the actuator feels smooth while moving around. It doesn’t have that weird feeling I get from the 309 series where it’s not as smooth of a travel as a Fanta does, This stick feels right on the money… It comes with Gersung A3s which I didn’t really like… Swapping in the Matsushita/Thailand switches turned it into something very close or even equal to in terms of feel and accuracy to the Myoungshin Fanta Airbag, which is my choice stick. If people loved their 309MJ but miss their Myoungshin Fanta, I would highly recommend this one over Crown’s other offerings. However, I think the swap to the Matsushitas made a huge difference in terms of control.

Why are there 104 pages to this thread, I’m so confused? I don’t know if I’m the only one with this problem or not. Probably because I’ve been away quite a while but this is a bit disorientating. :confounded:

@wazwuz i send you a pm for the shipping costs for france.

Are you using the base grommet installed or one of the others offered? Also, how are the different gate options? I noticed that it’s supposed to have both a circle gate and circle-square gate option, very interested to hear someone’s opinion of the customizations before I get mine in the mail tomorrow.

Holy! Where did u find the kaze lever and fanta airbag? Every time I look on makestick they’re sold out lol. Excited to hear the feedback on these!

Pic doesn’t work.

I’d like to know which grommet you’re using as well.

.

I’ve also noticed something about my Crown 309MJ-KMS while I was swapping out the A2 switches for the A3 switches. One of the directions actuates earlier than the others.
At first I thought one of the new A3 switches was faulty but when I replaced it with another one or even an A2 it didn’t change the fact that it actuated earlier.

@Hassun maybe the actuator is out of round. It should be even in all directions although I’ve heard that past crown levers had bad machining and had the symptoms you are describing meow.

@Hassun sounds to me like an offcentered grommet/centerpiece

If you have any other drop outs I’ll gladly throw money your way. Otherwise see you on the next round. Thanks.

Got my SDL-301-DX in today, love it so far. Feels much closer to a Fanta than the Crown 309 did which I’m certainly enjoying. Currently using the blue 35 tension grommet that comes in it, I found that the red 45 is just incredibly stiff to me while the 25 is as if there’s not even a grommet there (okay, exaggeration but it’s loose.)

Really enjoying it, yet to try switching the gates.

So I’m having an issue with my recent 309MJ I just got in today. Installed it, play-tested it, and it seems that I’m having issues hitting the down-right (or 3) direction. The amount of push on the joystick needed to actuate that direction is much greater than down-left (or 1). It seems very irregular compared to the other directions. Purchased from Focus Attack, in which these now have the Gersung A3s. I bought my first 309MJ with the Black bat top back when Focus Attack first got them in, and I believe they had the Panasonic microswitches? Those were 100% consistent and smooth for me, so I’m beginning to question.

Do I have a faulty microswitch? Or is the actuator installed incorrectly? I sincerely doubt the latter, since it appears that the actuator is the exact same on both sides, unlike the Crown 303, at least that’s what I can remember. Perhaps I’m not liking the new microswitches that now come equipped on the 309MJ now?

Edit: Just spent some more time practicing with it. Any move involving the direction doesn’t seem to come out. I’m leaning over towards me not really boding well with these Gersungs.

Which Gersung switches do you have in your 309MJ? Recently we found out that since Panasonic stopped making microswitches Crown switched over to the Gersung A2 switches for the 309MJ where people had problems hitting the diagonals, but they should have the Gersung A3 switches now to alieveate that alleviate that.

As you can see on Snubnoze’s post his came with the A3 switches. It’s the last 2 characters on the bottom white text of the switches.

Spoiler

As stated in my previous post, they are the Gersung A3s. I took a quick picture here for reference:

Down-left comes out just fine, but down-right requires me to push the joystick at a more upward-right angle to activate the microswitch. Pushing the joystick with the same grip at the same distance in both directions, down-left comes out every time, but with the same force and distance used for down-right, it just doesn’t come out at all. Practiced lots of inputs, for example, Law’s slide and King’s Giant Swing in Tekken: The moves only come out about 22% of the time as I can hear the microswitch for the Right direction not being activated most of the time.

Going back to my Black-colored model with (what I presume are; other sources are saying they are Matsushita switches with the same part number) the Panasonic microswitches, it’s 100% consistent all the way around:

Overall, I am leaning towards me not being satisfied at all with these Gersungs. After using both joysticks one after another, I am 95% consistent with my older 309MJ, while I am, perhaps, only 22% consistent with the new 309MJ equipped with the Gersungs. May have to return this one; shame though, as I really love the bat top color. May just pick it up another time, though; don’t have the time for waiting on another order before my next get-together.

@Elston87
Panasonic = Matsushita . It’s the same company who simply changed their name to Panasonic in 2008.
Logo “M” on the switches corresponds to the old name.

Gersung is clone quality, don’t be surprised if a part is dead right out of the box, otherwise it does the job, but don’t expect miracles. Crown and Myoungshin simply opted for a local Korean company who offered the lowest rate for microswitches . Why panas in some models then (much more expensive ) ? Because the designer(s) themselves admitted working with the latter when elaborating certain Crown prototypes (parts were designed to match the actuating specs), the switches had a certain reputation in terms of use in arcades for decades (Seimitsu for example), Matsushita was famous way before the introduction of the AM5, when Seimitsu was using the predecessor AH7 line (same specs though for practically everything, short hinge version is stock in the old Seimitsu ls-30 rotary stick for example).

i bought my omni last year in septemeber brand new from ettoki, anyone have an idea if i have a taeyoung Fanta or the Myoungshin Fanta stick ?
