Hi, I have a question about the Fantas (Taeyoungs or Myoungshins) with Gersung A2 switches. How far does the shaft have to travel towards the collar before activating the switches for diagonals? 60%? 75% of the radius from the center towards the collar? Iām curious about ordering an Etokki Omni rev. 7 with the Taeyoung. I tend not to touch the corner of the gate in a JLF when doing QCFs.
Sanwa jlf is a square gate and the taeyoung will feel circular. Going to be very hard to compare the two of them with QCF. Since you donāt touch diagonal on the jlf doing qcf because the gate is square if you were to do that on the taeyoung you will be riding the collar for the full motion. To activate the switches on A2ās itāll be about 35% and since korean joysticks generally have more tension compared to Japanese you can play with only touching the switches and never touching the collar.
Well I canāt speak for Taeyoung, but for Myoungshin, a bone stock one, the throw isnāt very far at all. The actuator is big enough to where you donāt need to ride the collar.
Now if youāre getting an Omni rev. 7, it comes with a Taeyoung, and I canāt really give you any input there. From what Iāve read in the past is that the actuator is smaller, but because the switches are closer. But Iāve also heard people using the stock Myoungshin actuator on the Taeyoung to help improve cornering. Yet I hear that involves some modifying because the Myoungshin actuator is a tad bit longer than a Taeyoung actuator.
If you scan through this thread, youāll find @Agieze chime in about the Gersung A2ās (comparing towards Panasonicās I think) with things like āpre-travel before actuationā. In terms of like, numbers. If thatās what you seek.
So I bought a Myoungshin Fanta from Makestick and it turns out the actuator is white and itās smaller than itās suppose to be. I thought it was from a Crown 309/309mj actuator that they probably messed up but itās not. This white actuator will only fit the Myoungshin Fanta NOT the Crown. Is this how the new Fantas are now? Or is this an error??
Iāve been using these for the past couple of days, and I have to say, the new A3 microswitches are way better than the A2ās on my 309MJ. Theyāre more sensitive with better diagonals and execution in general. Iām with @stringfellow ⦠itās a good combination.
How small are the new Myoungshin actuator. I play on a 16mm golden actuator and I have no issues hitting diagonals. Though, I did swap out the A2 Gersungs with some Panasonic switches. I also heard the A3 switches work as well.
After modifying a JLF every which way possible and never getting exactly the feel that I was looking for I started doing my homework in this thread and decided to give the Crown 309MJ with the A3 switches a shot.
Finally! The feel that I was looking for. Now I get the hype about the Korean levers. My movement in Tekken is way more fluid, and Iām hitting electrics at will. Iāll never go back to a Japanese stick.
I would like to get in on the next round of Golden Crown however, I could see some benefits in a bit stiffer grommet. This does feel really good as is though.
@Snubnoze thatās a great lever, the 25g grommet really is too soft imho. you should try the crown conversion shart + sanwa battop for some extra āspeedā (itās much lighter than the default crown battop). I also like the feel/size of it more.
as for the A3 switches⦠focusattack made a mistake sending them with first-class mail instead of priority mail and iāll have to wait a few more weeks for them to arrive. it went out of stock within a day or less, so I canāt even buy my way out of this :ā(
