Korean arcade parts discussion

@sinonick the issue is the 309mj does not perform well with the panasonic switches causing the inconsistency as mentioned before people and myself prefer using gersung A3 switches with that lever as there a little harder that being said the panasonics are flawless in mostly all fanta setups
i gave up trying to improve my 309mj and just stuck with my fanta but if that’s not an option for you i would try getting gersung a3 switches

@sinonick imo, I think unless the metal hinge is bent (like how those new Seimitsu switches are) it won’t affect the how early or late the pin plunger gets actuated. I think someone attempting to do what omron is doing for seimitsu, attempting to physically mod the hinge that is, that’s when things could start to get sketchy. Omron probably has a machine with the perfect angle to do the bending, something I don’t think a person could physically do with a pair of needlenose pliers and get consistent results :D… just my 2¢

@Rokwho good to know, i’m waiting for the A3s to show up in the mailbox. I’ll see then whether the 309 is staying or not. The taeyoung is probably my most consistent lever, it’s still not perfect though. I’ll get to try the Fujin if makestick.com ever replies to my email or fixes their site so I can order from Greece. The thing I like about the 309s is the silicone, the feel is so much better than the black rubber that is stock with the taeyoung. Other than that taeyoung is my fav although my thumb disagrees.

@jey-are i’ve tried the omrons (the ones with the bent switches) on the 309MJ, I thought at first they’re better than the Panasonics, realised soon it was just placebo :stuck_out_tongue: Hoping the A3s fit the 309MJ as good as they say, after that i’m trying the Panasonics on the Taeyoung. As for the hinge levers, I wouldn’t try bending them anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh and btw, I’m hyped for the Golden Crown set, go wazwuz :stuck_out_tongue:

@sinonick wow, your case is the exact opposite of mine: I love my 309MJ with A3 switches and stock grommet, and I’m growing day by day, hating my Taeyoung with its A2 switches and stock grommet so much, I’m literally hoping I can do anything, anything to replace its stiff grommet with a softer one. If the 309MJ grommet works with the Taeyoung, I would’ve ripped it out by now, coz I like everything else about the eTokki Omni and want to treat the Omni as my primary stick, but it’s the opposite now instead!

Fujin V2 went out of stock a few days back. I’m intrigued by the claim that the Panasonic switches on this lever was flawless with a Fanta, but paying 60 dollars just to harvest the switches isn’t economical to me. And since the Fujin V2 is even more stiff than the Fantas, I’d probably end up hating it more than the Taeyoung I have now anyway.

I don’t know if it’s the stiff grommet or the A2 switches on the Taeyoung that’s affecting my diagonals. Unless I really ride the collar/gate (and I hate doing that, coz it feels like I’m fighting against the lever), moves like Paul’s QCF/QCB misses a lot of time, and I’d get a just a f+2 or b+1+2 instead, it’s frustrating. The 309MJ with A3 switches executes those perfectly, every time, at stock.

Does the way one grips the battop of the Fanta levers affects execution? I hold my Fanta open palmed (so that the pull of the stick and release back to neutral is seamless), and not as tightly squeezed as one usually advised to on a Sanwa JLF (two fingers around shaft and the rest wrapped around Sanwa balltop), but even when I was using Sanwa stick, I hold the ball top open-palmed as well, as opposed to the example in parentheses.

Fujin out of stock? damn i ordered one last thursday probably why i aint heard nothing from them yet . They dont actually say on website there out of stock which is annoying or im blind where you see that info @stringfellow ?

never mind i see you have to add to cart then it says out of stock so i guess i was in just in time

Looks great! I’m glad you decided to offer some different springs.

Looking good @wazwuz ! Definitely need to get on the list for the next batch.

@wazwuz damn those look good! Kind of regret not getting in on the golden crown when I was on the priority list haha. Stopped using my 309 awhile back so I didn’t want to try it

Looks great @wazwuz. You can count me in for the next batch.

@wazwuz I’m leaving for vacation in 48h, could you let me know the final price so I can PayPal you? I’d like to get it sorted before I head out.

really curious on how well the grommets will work

Sorry for the dumb question but pretty new to this. My fujin v2 just arrived and it doesn’t have a dust cover. I want to put the myoungshin dust cover onto it how do I do this? With my myoungshin I can just pull the bat top upwards and the actuator easily pops off but I can’t with the fujin. The fujin also has a little metal clip at the bottom?

Also noticed that the fujin bat top rotates with little resistance. Is this normal? My myoungshin also does this (infact that feels even looser which is why I don’t use it) but the taeyoung needs quite a bit of force till it rotates.

Edit: so ok figured out I need to take off the e-clip and watched a YT video on how to do it with a screwdriver. Now I can’t get it back on? The edge of it is exactly where the actuator is and I also have no fingernails so can’t really get the tension to push it back on.

edit again: Ok managed that guess it wasn’t so hard.

So is the bat top meant to rotate? Feels a bit weird being used to the taeyoung which had a stiffer bat top.

@kimjongskill it’s normal for it to rotate like that. The reason why the myoungshin rotates more freely is from the gap between the bushing on grommet, actuator and shaft. The tighter the fit the harder it is to move it and the bigger the gap results in more play between the parts mentioned. It’s no different from the sanwa jlf the balltop will spin very easily since the spring is what’s giving the tension from bottom to top.

@kimjongskill Pretty much all Japanese and Korean sticks follow the same overall design. The body houses whatever gives tension (spring or rubber grommet), the microswitches mount onto the body (either directly or via a PCB), the shaft goes through the body, actuator over the shaft between the switches, and held in place by a e-clip. Electrical connections are either made directly to each individual microswitch or to a PCB in the case of microswitches that are soldered onto one.

So yes, there’s nothing strange about the shaft rotating since there’s nothing that hold it in place aside from the spring/grommet and e-clip.

Thanks for the answers guys. Had a few hours to get used to it now and damn the Fujin feels absolutely godly. It’s stiff but I was already used to the taeyoung which was already quite stiff. It feels so much more responsive though. There’s not much deadzone so even small movements give inputs which I’m guessing is due to the switches being closer together. Diagonals feel amazing too. With the taeyoung it felt like I’d need to hit the gate for a diagonal most of the time but can easily get them with the Fujin. My backdashing feels a lot better due to the cleaner diagonals and what feels like a faster return to neutral as well.

Overall very happy. Kinda wished I’d ordered two of them now (although fingers crossed it lasts for a long time) as I don’t see myself ever going back to anything else and now they’re out of stock :s
