Korean arcade parts discussion

I’m intrigued and interested in the Fujin V2, but the news about its stiffness scares me even more, despite my attraction towards its accuracy. I tend not to ride the collar or gate too much unless I start losing diagonal registration, and that’s plainly what happens with the Taeyoung in the Omni IMO. I don’t know if the switches in your Fujin alone is the source of its accuracy, I’d like to think that it’s combination of how the lever is built with its components that contributes towards that.

Have you tried using this combo: your Taeyoung lever but with Golden Fanta shaft and actuator (please indicate which shaft and actuator) and together with the Fujin V2’s switches. Do you think the stock Taeyoung’s switches V1623A2 works well in tandem with the Golden Fanta parts (shaft, actuator), and if you do, can you recommend which shaft and actuator? I think I have a feeling that I’ll be comfortable with Clear 35 or Green 45 grommet from Golden Fanta kit once I got it.

When you say precision, can you elaborate further? Do you mean that your execution doesn’t stray, and does that in part referring to how the microswitches feel or work for you? Or something else? that you meant here?

@stringfellow with the fujin i never ever miss my diagonal. With the golden fanta kit it’s very similar in that aspect but I don’t have the same speed on it. Like I can wave dash consisetly with the taeyoung but the speed is nowhere near the fujin. With the switches being close together I believe that’s where the speed comes from. As for the stiffness since the fujin is stiff I mainly use the switches over riding the gate. The golden fanta kit grommets will fit the fujin if u need something lighter bit with that being said with a much lighter grommet I feel riding the gate is necessary. The golden fanta set up i ran in the taeyoung was 15.5mm actuator and 10mm shaft to try to immitate the fujin. Later on settled with 15.5mm actuator and 9mm shaft but every now and then switched to the 8mm shaft. The golden fanta grommets are ok and yes it is lighter but I feel like it’s not as responsive and the stock grommets. Its as if the rating for the grommets aren’t acurate because of the big holes drilled into them. Like doing instant run feels sluggish and I think it has something to do with the holes for diagonal being much bigger compared to the the stock ones. I don’t use any of those grommets at all anymore because of that. With the golden fanta kit I found my execution to be not as consistent as my fujin and that’s mainly with mishima electrics and korean back dash cancelling. From standstill the electrics are easy but when Im doing triple crouch dashes into them or dashing electrics that’s when I feel it gets sloppy. The a2s that came with the taeyoung worked perfectly fine with the golden fanta kit.

Thank you for your insights, @zero_requiem , now you got me interested with the Fujin. IF the stiffness can be counterbalanced with a tighter execution just by moving around the switches, I’m gonna see if I can adjust to that with the hardest grommet from Golden Fanta kit and see if it suits my playstyle.

My wavedashes and KBDs situation is reversed compared to yours: I can do those all day with the 309MJ with its softer grommet, but on the Taeyoung Omni, it’s a “tug-of-war”, and with me unable to reliably to hit diagonals with the Taeyoung, execution has been slower than what I’m used to. I can exert more force and see those KBDs and wavedashes happen (especially when I get angry at “fighting” the lever :stuck_out_tongue: ), but I don’t wanna play angry. Great news about the A2 switches being perfectly fine in concert with Golden Fanta with the lever, I don’t have to worry about sourcing out switches if that’s the case.

@stringfellow no worries man glad I could help. If you do decide to get the fujin you might as well order the soft grommets they have at makestick just to save on shipping costs. The fujin is not as heavy as ppl say it is as long as you don’t ride the gate. With that being said try it out first before changing it. I used the 309mj for a few weeks before getting my omni/fujin and I haven’t looked back since. Everything that was easy before on the mj is no longer easy because I’m now used to the wider dead zone. With the taeyoung and golden fanta kit don’t worry about not having switch support because the switches line up fine. Only the myoungshin has this problem. As for sourcing switches you can always throw on the Panasonic Thai switches on to the taeyoung if you ever get the fujin. I tried that set up before and it works very well and vice versa the fujin works well with A2’s.

Have you tried taking the bushing out of the fujin’s grommet and putting it in the golden fanta grommet? The bushing inside the Fujin’s grommet is what makes it stiff and you are able to take it out. I remember reading a couple pages back someone did this and put it in one of the stiffer golden grommets and they said it felt perfect, although im not sure if they use the stick the same way by just feeling out the microswitches instead of riding the gate. Because I don’t ride the gate at all either, so right now, i don’t think the golden fanta grommets will benefit my style, so i ordered the fujin instead.

wow, this is what Saint told me. but since we have language barrier I can’t understand completely, thank you for sharing the history of Fanta with us.

@FatalFRAME I won’t work man. The bottom part on the golden fanta shafts are bigger in diameter than the fujins so the white bushing wont fit it. When using the fujin i prefer using the smaller actuator that came with it over the golden fanta’s because the switches are closer together. When I used the golden fanta kit on the fujin i had to use the stock myoungshin bushing to make the golden fanta grommets work.

@wazwuz do you plan adding a golden dust cover to golden crown kit?

yes, Golden Crown will have the same parts like Golden Fanta + 2 custom ss spring (lighter and harder tension).

left is 0.6mm
middle is Crown 309 stock spring 0.8mm
right is 1mm

Does anyone find that the 60A rubber Crown grommet from FocusAttack feels uneven in their 309?

I’ve only heard good things about that grommet. I myself purchased the 55A grommet along with 309mj a few months ago from makestick. It works flawlessly so far and is made of the same material as the stock 309 grommets.

It’s probably just be my imagination but the resistance feels inconsistent. I was interested in the grommets from makestick as well but I didn’t want to pay $20 shipping on $2 parts. The grommet on Focus Attack is from ASI so I assume @wazwuz can vouch for it’s quality. Uneven or not, it definitely has helped me keep my motions tighter, almost like having a smaller gate that I can push past farther when I need to.

They feel really loose when I had it on my 309mj. On the 307 it helped a little bit but not much.

Looking forward to this mod. Keep us posted when orders are available.

FA grommets are indeed from ArcadeStick Indonesia (wazwuz) , but are not at all the same material as the silicone 303/307/309 grommets sold by Makestick, the latter not being produced at all by makestick as some may believe but simply Crown products sold by Makestick/IST. Hence these Crown grommets sold on makestick site are all “stock” although sold as spares since the 55A is stock for 307, 35A is stock in 309Helpme and 25A stock for 309MJ.

I did get the 60a silicone grommet late last year in addition to the 309mj. That thing really helped. Sucks they don’t offer that.

It was for 303 not for 309. 309 grommets is thicker. If you put 303 grommets in 309, there will be empty space which could lead to what you are experiencing

I had a feeling that was the case. Other people claimed to have it fit fine in their 309 so I assumed they were the same. Looks like I should order grommets off Makestick then.

Seem to be exactly the same to me !

Gersung GSM-V1623A3 .187" Long Straight Hinge Lever Microswitch (4-Pak) available on Focus Attack. I just ordered some for my 309MJ in hopes they perform like the Gersung GSM-V0323A3 that everyone have been favoring (over the A2). Perhaps this is an updated version of the A3?
