@Hassun just get the golden fanta when it goes up for sale next month. It makes a huge difference changing the shaft and actuator. I find the new taeyoung stock to have very sloppy inputs due to the actuator.
Iām surpised to hear people having problems with the Crown buttons. I think they are awesome and they are the best button Iāve ever tried. They are my new fave. Hopefully mine donāt break any time soon.
I installed Crown SDB-201 30mm screw buttons on my te2+ not too long ago and only used them for about a week because I noticed the buttons would get stuck randomly. One game playing shaheen my lk button stopped working and I couldnāt slide so I had to switch to my etokki midgame.
I hear you on the tracking, I usually just order and hear nothing till it arrives. I just ordered a 3rd Fujin to give as a gift to a friend. Iām thinking about taking the Panasonic switches it comes with off and swapping for the Panasonic ones on my Helpme lever, just yo have a bit of a stock pile. Man I love the Fujin!
Kinda disappointing that to get these ābetterā (debatable) microswitches, theyāre can only be āharvestedā from a lever, instead of available for purchase separately. Maybe my Google-fu isnāt powerful enough, but I canāt seem to find any other outlets that stocks Gersung A3 switches or Panasonic AM5 switches other than FA or Makestick/IST. Or is that how it works? Coz I did a cursory search on these switches in Chinese online stores (folks in my country buy bulk through these Chinese online stores like Aliexpress, Alibaba, and Taobao, and reselling them locally for profit) and they do exists (purchase in MOQ in the 100s) but without the flat metal levers attached to them.
There are some panasonic AM5s at smallcab.net their number is a little bit different. Ordered some ill know if theyre the same with the ones fitted in crown levers on monday. Their number is AM51662C5N the ones from ls32
Yh their customer service aint too amazing compared to Etokki who sent the tracking number straight away and communicated every step of the way with questions I had. Still Rohan eventually sent me my tracking number and apologised for the delay. They only just dispatched my order on the 17th apparently because " it was delayed for a circumstance that Crownās product line was stopped." No idea what that means but my Fujin better come with those Panasonic switches!
@sinonick@stringfellow
this am5 issue has been adressed before in detail. No wonder when searching the web you found different switches that didnāt have the hinge lever blade, that is because the so called āthaiā switches seen in K-levers have a wrong digit in the ref (erroneous digit for pin plunger instead of correct digit for hinge lever) . Please dig the thread for details around page 30.
For one given operating force in the AM5 line (at 16A rating) , you can use both side com and bottom com in K-levers (seimitsu ls-32/40 can only use side com for practical reasons), as well as spdt type (all in .187 terminals) which means that there are 4 model variations of AM5 with exact same actuating specs available ( theyāre discontinued, but who knows if you find a reliable retailer). Operating forces are 120gf, 180gf and 240gf. Thatās 12 panasonic am5 switch models that can be used in K-levers if you need extra sensitivity compared to the same operating force models from Gersung GSM-V or Omron V.
Where exactly can we get our hands on 120gf panasonicās? Im not too fond of 180gf+ switches is why i currently favor the Gersung A2ās atm. As im looking up on google, im not sure if those sites are legit, or for buying in bulk, as they ask for u to submit a request.
These are the current panasonic switches im looking for that have an operating force of 120gf, if anyone has these, im willing to buy.
@ykd nice I just ordered 2 lol. 1 is a spare and the other is for my brother. I dunno what it is with the fujin v2 but itās so damn accurate and definitely my favorite lever atm. Gotta stock pile those switches since they are a rare commodity nowadays.
Need to pick your brains, guys. Please hear me out.
Iām happy with the Crown 309MJ with Gersung GSM-V0323A3 microswitches, that comes stock from Makestick. I also have the eTokki Omni with Taeyoung Fanta GSM-V1623A2 that comes stock from eTokki. Iāve had the Omni about two weeks longer than the Crown fitted into an Atrox, and I instantly feel more comfortable with the Atrox with 309MJ than the Omni. I 've given myself about two more weeks to adjust to the Omni with Taeyoung lever before I put it aside until I get the Golden Fanta mod from Wazwuz. After 2 weeks manhandling the Taeyoung (more like āfightingā the stick rather), I grew more frustrated and more aggressive in my inputs compared to what Iām used to with Sanwa levers and the 309MJ lever as well. Diagonals are missed a few times (although if I completely grind the shaft against the collar/gate, it does register, but Iām taken aback by how much force Iāve to exert to make sure the diagonals come out!), and even after reading up on the Taeyoung sporting a softer grommet (and getting confirmation from Matt of eTokki as well that being the case), I still can get used to how much force I had to exert to do common QCF and DP moves I could do effortlessly using old Sanwa sticks, as well as the 309MJ. Iām not āfightingā the levers so much with the 309MJ compared to the Taeyoung.
How to I alleviate this? Softer grommets? More sensitive microswitches? Different diameter actuators? If grommets and actuators are the solution, Iām praying that the Golden Fanta mod can help on this. If microswitches is the answer, would swapping the A3 switches from 309MJ to the Taeyoung works? Or any other recommended microswitches (the AM5 switches for example)? This is my first Korean stick experience, and my first attempt at modding anything related to a fight stick, and I donāt want to make the problem worse if swapping these around doesnāt really help.
What Iām looking for is the effortlessness of executing moves of the 309MJ with the smoothness of motion doing these execution of the Taeyoung.
Anybody with these parts and equipment Iāve mentioned, mind giving me your thoughts about this? Please help. :s Thanks guys.
Just by following this thread, taeyoung has one of the harder type grommets out of most sticks. Using the golden fanta mod or buying a fanta grommet soft version should help with this. Iāve also read that people find using a Fanta sized actuator in the taeyoung works well, but your problem should be solved with a softer grommet (maby try A3 switches too) in the tae if your not hitting the diagonals. Personally i have the 309MJ and i only used the hayabusa/sanwa before. I just went a little higher in stiffness (bought the grommett from makestick) for the return to neutral for tekken. Didnāt like it at the start but have grown towards it since my inputs arnāt messing up when i ālet goā of the stick. i used to get the opposite direction of what i was letting go from AND my grommet has broken in a little. The stock was 25 i have the 35.
I have A2 switches and find the diagonals not as consistant as i like and postage is too much for me to order again. Technically there should just be a actuation force difference as the A3 should require more force which i personally wouldnāt like, but if people are saying it fixes the issue then it might be worth a shot. Otherwise the stick is amazing and i can move much more freely.
I would think that the taeyoung with the right things on it may end up being superior (Waz mods to make it how your preference), i just havenāt got a korean panel yet.
Overall fanta and tae are still similar aside from the grommet stiffness (thickness of the actual gromett is a tad bigger) and possibly switch placement (most of the info is from this thread)
Heres the info i got if anyone is interested:
The microswitches used on the Taeyoung Fanta stick are Gersung A2 switches and the rubber
grommets are identical and fully compatible.
About the differences between Taeyoung and Myoungshin, the following is
the history and the difference of the two.
Taeyoung Fanta stick is the original brand that created the Fanta
stick back in the 90ās.
Taeyoung Fanta stick was the most popular stick among Korean arcade
players all types of games, but it was made famous to other countries by
the Korean Tekken Tag players from the legendary āFantasiaā arcade,
which is also where the clever moniker āFantaā stick came from. This is
why Fanta sticks are known for Tekken outside Korea, but Koreans play
all games on the same Fanta stick, just like Japanese players play all
games on the same Sanwa stick.
Myoungshin saw the success of Taeyoung Fanta sticks and made a product
closely following/mimicking the Taeyoung Fanta stick
Because itās a close copy of the Taeyoung, some parts from Myoungshin
sticks are directly compatible with the Taeyoung Fanta stick, such as
the rubber grommet, shaft, actuator, and metal mounting plate.
Taeyoung Fanta stick is produced by a large manufacturing company,
producing many different products. Myoungshin is a relatively smaller
company producing few products.
Possibly due to the difference in business scale, the mold quality and
precision is superior in Taeyoung Fanta stick. This is especially
noticeable in the handle and the joystick body.
During 2000s, when arcades were quickly dying and demand for sticks
were low, Taeyoung stopped producing the sticks and focused on their
other products, but Myoungshin continued to produce sticks and was the
only decent choice for a few years.
People created many modified Myoungshin Fanta sticks during this
period to mimic the original Taeyoung Fanta stick, and also because
Myoungshin Fanta sticks had a quality consistency issue.
Many people have asked us to bring back Taeyoung Fanta sticks over the
years, and we were able to finally bring them back recently.
@m_abdalla3 I suspect the grommet was the case too, your post kinda confirms that. I have Asian hands here, and Iām used to the effortlessness of moving Sanwa levers around, but I freaking hate the gating mechanism. Also didnāt prefer Sanwaās return to neutral speed.
Iām going to do this step by step: change the actuatorā¦see how the execution goes. Then change the shaftā¦see how the execution goes. Then change the grommet and see how the execution goes. I prefer not to change the microswitch out of fear if they misalign in some way, unless I have to, after going through the actuator/shaft/grommet in that order.
Donāt get me wrong, I love my Taeyoung Omni, itās just that after I got my 309MJ which uses the same principles as any other Korean levers (grommet return to neutral and no gates) shows how easy it is to perform moves compared to the Taeyoung, I rather want to have that same effortless capability in the Omni, without losing its smooth execution capability as well. Dunno if that makes sense. I love the 309MJ to bits, but it could be better with a slightly stiffer grommet or spring (@wazwuz I see a Golden Crown probably in my future ) , but not as stiff as the Taeyoung in the Omni. I feel thereās a middle ground here where I could settle in and be happy with.
@stringfellow the golden fanta kit will definitely alleviate all the problems you are describing. The main problem with the taeyoung is itās cone shaped actuator. I tried to install the myoungshin actuator inside the taeyoung but itās too long. After a few days I couldnāt take it anymore so I put my fujin v2 on the etokki and I havenāt taken it out since. Now that I have the golden fanta kit Iām using the taeyoung again in my te2+ and itās pretty good meow. As for tension in the fujin v2 it makes the new taeyoungs feel like a joke. In terms of precision none of my k-levers feel like the fujin. With the microswitches being closer together Iām able to wave/light dash with mishimas effortlessly.
