Would anyone happen to know when FocusAttack is gonna be getting 309 HelpMe with A3s ? any ETA ?

Golden Crown Update.

I just made the Crown 309 Grommet Prototype. I decide to make it have same profile on the diagonals, so it will have same resistance for every directions.

I will try it this weekend. and start production on next week.

I see that crown have unique feels due the spring+rubber combination compare to myoungshin, and I think it is not bad at all.
btw, do you want custom springs (with less tension and more tension) for the Golden Crown? it will increase the production cost

Was wondering how thick are the grommets. I think the main issue with them when I tried the first run was that even the hardest tension it still felt loose. I won’t mind paying more for the custom springs. Curious how these will turn out.

Ok that’s awesome to hear. I’ll def try it soon. Thanks again

Just like stock grommets, 309 model is 6.5mm. 303 model I sent you is is 5.5mm

I had no idea that Crown sticks got springs as well.
Unless adding custom springs increases costs by >30% I think adding those is a great idea. The more options the better.
I’ll definitely order a set.

Yeah I dropped in a grommet from my ol’ 303 into my 309 helpme. Felt a little stiffer but not by much (not too much at all really). I’d be willing to buy a grommet set from @wazwuz in the near future

Yeah, it’s quite weird to be honest. I can’t imagine how much different a hard spring with a soft grommet will play differently with a soft spring and a hard grommet but i’m interested in how different they feel. I’m also interested in how much of a difference the spring actually makes, I thought the spring was only to keep the shaft from wiggling in the dead-zone.

@wazwuz when you start production on the 309 grommet and springs I’m interested in purchasing off you. I don’t know how u do it if u have a list of consumers in order of intent to purchase, if so the case please put me on the list for your next batch production, thanks. If not no big deal just throwing this out there

Where can you buy the Infiltration lever if it supposedly released today ?

Infiltration linked the official Samducksa website but I don’t see it there.

In Korea.

is the SDL-301 DX not out yet?

Spring have nothing to do with shaft. It just add tension to the grommets when pivoting. I just trying 309 without spring, And it work good.

First off, I would like to thank Wazwuz for sending me a Golden Fanta Kit and apologize that it took me so long to write something up.

Did some testing with the following levers: Myoungshin Fanta, Fujin v2, Crown 309HelpmeK. For reasons concerning time and fear of breaking the receivers on my current case (screw posts are slightly misaligned). I did not test every possibility available in given to me in the kit. Here is what I received in my kit and the effect/value I felt it provided me.

Fanta
I personally like the Fanta more than the Crown, as the Diagonals and Cardinal Directions feel much less uniform providing me with better feedback and allowing me to adjust myself accordingly. In the Cardinal Directions I feel a ramping direct tension as I push towards them, where in the case of Diagonals, there is a feeling of being Guided into them. I notice when spinning the stick around in circles that going from a Cardinal Direction to a Diagonal has less resistance, then going from a Diagonal to a Cardinal Direction.

  • 35/45/55/65 Shore Grommets (Clear/Green/Blue/Red)
Had visual and visceral differences from the design of the stock Fanta Grommet; Specifically the placement, size and depth of the holes in the corner. This felt like it accentuated the guiding effect towards the corner, making it much easier to discern difference between each direction. The ability to discern this increased with the shore rating of the grommet.

  • 8/9/10 mm Shafts
Providing the ability to customize my lever top was a big win, not only visually, but if I wanted to experiment with different weight distribution later. Increased the amount of leverage I felt I had over the Grommets tension, but generally felt like swapping these out was akin to having more Shore options of Grommets. However, this also made me feel less of the guiding effect towards the corner when increasing the size of the shaft.

  • 15.5/16/16.5 mm Actuators
Decreased the amount of throw needed to activate any given switch. This I needed to play around with the most, as I do like short throw, it was also less forgiving in terms of accuracy when aiming at diagonals, as hitting a single switch could/would happen before engaging the second switch more often.

I ended up with 55 Shore Grommet + 8 mm Shaft + 16 mm Actuator as my preference. This was to focus on being able to feel bigger differences in each direction more, which I feel might let me manipulate muscle memory better.

Fujin
The feeling of Diagonal vs Cardinal Directions is heightened with this stick for me. Even testing outside the game, when removing actuators from both the Fanta and Fujin and using the same Shore Rating Grommet, the Fujin feels more accurate. The only thing I can think of is that the thinner Shaft and difference of leverage in the Fujin is causing this. With that being said, I prefer using the Fujin, but have since switched to the 45 Shore Grommet. The holes in the corner from the Kit made me feel I was retaining accuracy without having to maintain the fatigue from the original grommet.

Crown
I have a 309HelpmeK-JMS. All directions aren’t necessarily uniform, but hard to discern the differences making it hard to adjust myself to it and learn with.

  • 45/55/65 Shore Grommets (Green/Blue/Red)
I could tell the difference between the 3 grommets provided. However, though the Helpme stock grommet, felt similar to the 55 Shore Grommet provided before installation. Even the 65 Shore Grommet felt like it provided less resistance once installed. After examining the stock and 65 Shore Grommet side by side, it appears that the Helpme stock grommet is taller than all 3 of the others. The tension difference is likely coming from the shorter grommets lifting up while in the housing during play.

I ended up putting the original Grommet back in, but honestly am not going to use this lever over my other options.

Am I correct in saying that spring just acts as additional tension (i.e. Total Tension = Spring + Grommet)? Would this mean that if you make the grommet hard enough, you can remove the spring altogether?

My review of the Crown SDL-301-DX Infiltration lever is up. In short, I think it’s ok. Playable on 2D fighters if you have a stick that can accommodate the size of the large body.

Good job on the writeup. I do have a quick question, though I do remember you saying somewhere in this thread that you don’t prefer Japanese joysticks; correct me if I am wrong on that. Would it be possible to compare against a similar Japanese joystick in terms of tension, throw distance, and actuation? Does it feel the most like a Sanwa JLF or a Seimitsu joystick, or perhaps none of them?

I find myself having to swap between joysticks depending on the game that I am playing. The detachable joystick handle and the neck gate are attention grabbers for me, so I can customize it to my liking. If it compares to an LS-32 at the least, then I may find myself picking it up.

I might have said something like that but for real, I do like em. A Hayabusa with a normal Sanwa spring and an LS-32 are fun to use. I just don’t care enough to research on their own tech as much as Korean parts. In the review, I did mention that it can sometimes feel like a worn JLF, a really worn one. Probably with heavier grommets, it will feel like a more stable JLF but didn’t have much time to experiment. In ideal circumstances, the Infiltration lever feels like a looser JLF with Korean traits. Just got to grip it more than any other stock lever, Korean or Japanese.

Ehhh, sounds like I’ll be skipping out for now. Maybe I’ll demo it sometime if I get the chance. The joystick looks really unique, though, both inside and out.

The bat tops are cool looking, though. I’d love to get my hands on any of those colors, but over at the Focus Attack thread, it sounds like they’re going to be expensive to get ahold of, so it may not even be a feasible option.
